I did this for my 4 yr old grandson last year. I only used screws for the bottom, in case of cleaning. I predrilled for nails and gave him a hammer to drive the nails. He painted one and it hangs in their front yard. He really enjoyed using the hammer. It is his favorite tool.
Thank you for this video - I can now use it to talk my future wife into getting a saw mill. Cannot in any way build the bird house she wants without one...
We just built a birdhouse as a family too! My kids loved the process. Love to see y’all having fun together. Been following along since you built Morgan’s table, keep up the good work!
This was a cool little project and I loved watching you work with your daughter. She is a doll. I love the idea of putting together the parts together as a kit and giving the kit away to kids to put together. I think that I will do that for my grand kids. Thanks for the idea and for another great project.
My daughter and I have been watching your videos for the past year and a half. We absolutely love this idea. We are going to try it out tomorrow and make a few extras for our neighbors too. Thanks for the idea!
We did this project today. I really enjoy putting them together with my kids, but it hurt me a little when they decided to paint the cherry that I spent almost 2 hours dimensioning and preparing for assembly... If they learn nothing from my covid home school, they’ll learn to appreciate natural wood beauty haha
Tuned in to see what Mellissa Hill had to say. How cruel of you to put the large knot just below the opening. How many near sighted birds will bump their heads trying to get in.
Am I see wrong? Where the bottom of this birdhouse? On packages I see also the top and only 4 walls. The hight is also not good. Definitely should see some ornithological projects. You can do more harm than good.
love projects that get kids involved. excellent.
Awesome. Great to spend time with the kid in the shop.

Made two with my kids a couple weeks ago. It’s been fun to watch our new friend. Used ply scraps and they both designed their own roof pitches.
I did a project with my son last weekend and it is great to get them in the shop when you can. Looks like she really enjoyed it!
Well it looks like a masterpiece to me. I’m sure the birds will think it’s an awesome place to live.
A+ tks
Great project & your daughter did a terrific job assembling the birdhouse....👍👍🐦🐦
Such a great way for her to become involved with building something. And of course, patience.

doesn't the right side blade guide slide closer to the log being slabbed? Thought your blade was wandering...
3:20 ...30 years later ruins blade on mill.....
Great projects to do with the kids. If you don’t mind I ask , were do you live ? Mr Mike
I'm in Central VA. I've got 10 acres just North of Charlottesville
Looks great 😃
