    I wish I would’ve found your channel 3 years ago. I’m obsessed with birdhouses. I don’t know how to make them because I’m scared of power tools. Will subscribe and be watching your channel from now on.

      Linda thanks for watching and subscribing. I plan I building more on the channel because of all the comments. Some power tools I own I am very careful using, like my router/shaper, every time I start that thing up I think to myself is there another way to do this, lol. Again thanks for watching and have an awesome day.

    Hi, What a great idea for a birdhouse. Also the varnish made the wood pop like you said.
    Keep up the great videos.

    You shouldn’t put screw to close to edge need at least 1” to 1 1/8 from edge

    • @MarksWorld-GetOutdoors
      @MarksWorld-GetOutdoors  Год назад

      Thanks for watching and commenting, it would be a little tough seeing that the board it’s going into is only 3/4” wide, that only split because there was a knot right there. I used thin cabinet screws which worked perfect. I gave that one away and built myself one and that one hasn’t split and is just like the day I built it except for the weathering

      @@MarksWorld-GetOutdoors what is your word on painting or not the birdhouse, and do the boards on pallets have arsenic in them? Thank you..... JoAnn

    • @MarksWorld-GetOutdoors
      @MarksWorld-GetOutdoors  4 года назад

      Jo Anne I have not painted any houses yet...I like the way wood ages out in the elements .. but I have one i'm going to do soon that will have some paint on it but then I will sand some of it off to give it an aged look..As for pallet boards having arsenic that I do not know... but I know that new pallet are suppose to be stamped on the side to indicate what type of wood or treatment was used. Below is a copy of an article on some of the stamping on a pallet.
      More companies are starting to build one-time-use pallets or using heat treatment rather than Methyl Bromide fumigation.
      Pallets now require an IPPC logo which certifies that the pallet was heat-treated or fumigated with Methyl Bromide.
      The standard is a 2 letter country code (xx), a unique number (000) assigned by the National Plant Protection Organization (NPPO), HT for Heat Treatment or MB for Methyl Bromide, and DB to signify debarked.
      The logo in the first image shows that it was produced in the U.S., the material was provided by 11187 (Unique number assigned to the producer), it was heat treated (HT) and was verified by PRL (Package Research Laboratory)
      Heres a link to that article with pictures:

      A lot of the birdhouses I build I use cedar fence pickets ...I actually bought about a 3/4 full pallet of pickets that had sat out in the sun and aged so we didn't want to sell them at work, so I got a great deal on them...Perks of working at Lowes...

      Mark Dohring my son and I made wooden frames for someone who stretched a canvas picture of a tree over them and sold them for people to sign at weddings. We made thousands. Ben also did finish carpentry, and artwork, and built kitchens. I don’t want to upset you but he died of cancer this May. I am looking at the beautiful tools and machines and the left over wood. I can’t build kitchens but I know how to do a lot of simple things. Before we are forced to sell everything I might take a year to do some fun things. I really enjoy all aspects of woodworking when I am the helper.
