Been building rustic birdboxes of found materials and wood for years. Thanks for the idea of the brad nailer, which I now have and love - mine a little bigger and heavier, but wonderful device. Have to confess the music almost made me quit a couple times. Muzak x 2. Bird boxes are wonderful creative outlets when you live in the country and have lots of material!
Birdhouse was really clever. I’m going to try to make one. Liked your freehand drawing of the house. Great idea!! as for the music, yeah it was a little annoying, but anybody working with saws and blades, and moving machines, also know how to mute the sound.
Awesome, like u said actually not to hard and the nice thing is just draw the house front and back the way u want it and do the same thing with other designs.
Thanks for the video. I did make a “hinged” bottom by fitting a single angled piece inside of the bottom. The “hinges” are a single brad nail either side of one end and a bent finish nail as a latch at the other end of the bottom piece. Pull and twist the nail and the bottom becomes a trap door to clean out the previous year’s nest. Cheers.

So easy! All you need is a bandsaw, a table saw, a miter saw, and a nail gun (plus compressor). Around $1,000 in tools and voila! You can build a birdhouse! (Cool looking birdhouse I must admit)
There are many components to doing a pro job. One plan I found which successfully combines these is the Aviary magic method (google it if you're interested) definately the most helpful course that I've heard of. look at this interesting resource.

If it is an "antiqued" house, I will use an old, shortened, rusty nail for a pull tab. But I still have another means for locking the either the floor or a side from opening. You need a pull tab because sometimes with age and moisture, the wood expands and doesn't swing open as easily. ALWAYS use spar urethane on exterior but never on the inside. Sara thank u.. we have a lot of bigger birds in the area that for some reason really enjoy harassing the birdhouses I have made for smaller birds so without having something to stand on the bigger birds don’t bother the houses.. the little birds grab right onto the rough cedar and go right in no problems ...
great job man just couple of things from a builder's point of view when u cut that little piece for the back that should be put in the middle like 2 big pieces up 2 down and small piece in the middle it balances the design second the last piece put on the roof (or top) should be 2 pieces of probably an inch each cut at 10/12 angle and then put it on like a ridge cap. why did i say 10/12 cause of your design this birdhouse looks like those old houses with 12/12 roof pitch
Syed thanks for watching the video ... I actually had thought about doing that, but then thought someone wanting to try it may feel uncomfortable ripping those small pieces with an angle. Thanks again for watching and the input.
Really sharp hole saw if it had done a lot of tear out when cutting I probably would have .. it’s a rough cedar and has slivers all over it.. it’s funny watching them sometimes I’ll have 2-3 on the face of the birdhouse just holding on
Oh my god, who ever cleans out a bird house once it's up? They are functional ornamentation. The dozen bird houses we have in our yard get used every year and we never clean them out. Look at how many nests get used year after year. Case closed.

+Hassan Al-Mosawi Al-Mosawi thanks for watching and subscribing.. this Friday I’m going to build an outhouse birdhouse and video it.. I think it’s really cool looking .. again thanks for watching
Like , ottima idea.
Nice house...can’t take the music...🤪
I know, it was one of the very first video's I ever made and trust me it will never happen again...LOL but thanks for watching it.
Super
Thank u.
Why do you have the music so loud while you're speaking? It drowns out your voice.
So cute!!! Omg!👌🏽❤️
Thank u... it was a fun build .... I'm boing to do another cute one soon for this season.... I think you'll like it a lot... Have an awesome day.
Hello! Thank you for posting this video! What kind of nail gun did you use to make this birdhouse?
Andrew,
Good morning and thanks for watching my channel... I used a brad nailer with 1 1/4” brads... the boards are 1/2 thick, which gave me a little more than 3/4” into the main body of the bird house... if u should have any other questions please let me know ... again thanks for watching
I froze the frame once and it was a craftsman.
Ficou parecendo uma casinha de duende
Muito bonita
Parabéns.
Beautiful! What about something for them to stand on?
Shouldnt you sand that hole so the birds dont get slivers on the way in???
Really sharp hole saw if it had done a lot of tear out when cutting I probably would have .. it’s a rough cedar and has slivers all over it.. it’s funny watching them sometimes I’ll have 2-3 on the face of the birdhouse just holding on
need to make a cleanout door.
+Coletta Hughes did that at the end of the season.. took off bottom and drilled holes for screws.. now
The bottom comes off for cleaning ..
Oh my god, who ever cleans out a bird house once it's up? They are functional ornamentation. The dozen bird houses we have in our yard get used every year and we never clean them out. Look at how many nests get used year after year. Case closed.
pins or brads?
William first off thanks for watching the video .. I used my brad nailer with 1 1/4” brads ... the picket thickness are right around 1/2”, it varies .
Nice video with great information but I can't see the pencil lines during layout. Suggest maybe using a thin line Sharpie.
Good, very good.......
Thank u... just a quick little house out of fence pickets...
ficou top de mais parabens
I liked the video...thank you.
One Question: why does every video seemed to have annoying music playing in the background...distracting and I end up turning the volume off.
First off thanks for watching the video and the kind comments and I agree, sorry about the music. It was one of my first video's posted and I'm afraid to go in and try and change the music. I have improved on videos since then... Have an awesome day.
@@MarksWorld-GetOutdoors its okay...great that you read the comments. Sometimes its nice to hear comments from the maker and to hear about any special issues or tips they have...but thanks again for the wonderful video
@@MarksWorld-GetOutdoors The music was fine, this guy sounds like he needs some Ex Lax, but I'm sure he'll be OK once he finds relief.
roof and sides how wide and front size wide and high
Maybe be a little more descriptive. But I love your vids man. Y'all keep it up
+ConquerRealmz thank u for watching them
@@MarksWorld-GetOutdoors oh I will
Yep if you have all that expensive saws
If that is all the music you have for the background, it is too monotonous and too loud, best to leave it off. Nice birdhouse.
I know, one of the very first videos I did, was new to posting. I have gotten much better, lol. Thanks for watching

Wooooooow
Gracias
Thank u
Background music was distracting - left video 1:26
Bob,
Thanks for the comment... that was one of the first video I posted to youtube and was new to this... Since this has over 46K views I'm afraid to go in and try and change it ... do you think it would be better without any back ground music at all... Let me know your thoughts... Thank you again.
Yes in my experience handy diy people don’t like music in theses types of video you can either talk as you’re doing it or just quiet and the sound of the machines is enough thanks very much for sharing Great birdhouse 👍🏼
Mark Peacock thank u

needs a perch
a
I didn't put a perch to keep the bigger birds like the BlueJays in our yard from having a place to sit and try and bother the babies... Those birds are so mean.... Thanks for watching the video...
TheBuckness - perches are not recommended on small bird boxes as it encourages larger birds to land on them
Except for that annoying racket AKA music, this was pretty cool. The racket degraded the entire presentation.
I agree completely...it was one of my first videos...I'm much better now... but thanks for watching.
