I followed your steps and made one for my parents for Christmas. They finally hung it on their garage this summer and within a month they had wrens nesting!
You did a great job on the birdhouse; it’s very creative! A great way to recycle a product that would probably just end up in a landfill. I’m sure ppl would purchase license plate birdhouses from you - super cute & on trend. Thanks for sharing!
Very nice. I checked our blue bird house yesterday and the 3 babies have gotten big enough to fly away. I also caught a humming bird eating from our feeders. So far we have 12 purple martins. Should be more coming this month. Im like an old man sitting on the porch watching birds. LOL Have a blessed week!!!
I had blue bird houses at my place up north but havent made any for down here yet. I need to! Those little devils grow fastdon't they? Thanks for watching and you have a blessed week also! /Jim
I love that bender, and I so enjoy everyone of yalls videos!!! Thank Yall for always sharing much knowledge, and welcoming all of us into your journey of homesteading. Many Blessings Yalls Way
Thank you so much for watching, it is handy. I had to set up the camera and do it myself. Josie was not up to it, her mom had passed so I thought I would stick something together.vShe is much better at filming than I. It's so good to have friends like you guys out there. Hope all is well with the two of you and have a wonderful blessed week. /Jim

Just found your site. Making a license plate bird house and went looking for a nice video. Thanks for the tips! Love the bender. Nothing like working smarter, not harder. Thanks again! Bobbi
Hey Dean good to hear from ya. Hope all is well and your staying safe. They are simple to make make for sure. Josie painte the two I make and I put them out on trees already. Thanks buddy for watching the video. God bless!
Like the design. I would suggest cutting both ends of your mounting board into 45 degree points. It would then fit flush under the license plate roof and the bottom end would mimic the diamond shape of the bird house. I really like the bender you made also.
Wonder Why Farm & Homestead - thank you so much for the nice feedback! It comes in handy now and then and was perfect for this project. Have a great day!
Looks like a fun project. I've used newish and old, rusty license plates segments to make address plaques and name plates. Those and my barn wood birdhouses always sold fast at craft shows and consignment shops, long ago. I'm getting back to some woodworking, since "farmhouse" decor is trending.
K Fogarty - license plates are handy for a lot of projects. I’ve always enjoyed woodworking and need to get some bluebird and Martin houses built. You are definitely right about farmhouse decor being the latest trend! Good luck with your woodworking projects!
@@OzarkMountainGoats It's been enjoyable crafting and gifting various bird abodes and feeders. Especially, the customized ones, ie, a firetruck for my dad, a barn for my mom, an ambulance for my brother, a golf cart for another brother, a dive diner for a sister, a crank wall phone for the other sister, and for friends= bait shops, general stores, a dairy cow, dogs, cats, sunflowers, a lighthouse, an Irish cottage, an outhouse, and an Airstream. Some were more detailed, and some a tad rustic. They were made for utility and whimsy. I may get ambitious enough someday to tackle a martin mansion, if you share a tutorial 👍.
@@kayfabe591 Sounds like your pretty handy in a work shop also. I use to make a few things years ago and sell at craft shows. Things like wooden toys, clocks and potato boxes. Tried to make a living at it but it was hard and a lot of traveling. I would like to try and my some cool bird houses like your talking about. I may do that at some point. I would also like to try to make some whirligigs. My uncle use to make them all the time. Funny I was looking at Martin Houses yesterday thinking I need to build one. Anyway, sounds like we both have enough to keep us busy for a while. Best of luck on any project you do. /Jim
Hello Zac. The boards are 2 at 5-1/2" x5 -1/2 " the other 2 are both 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" each. But remember that what ever thickness the 3.5 boards are you have to cut that thickness off one side off those 2 boards. Because one overlaps the other on bottom so it can be nailed. Hope this helps. So if your board thickness is 1/2" remove 1/2" from one side of the 3 1/2" boards. If 3/4 remove 3/4 and so on.
I followed your steps and made one for my parents for Christmas. They finally hung it on their garage this summer and within a month they had wrens nesting!

Are the board measurements (2) 5.5” and (2) 3.5” ?
