Allison Janney really is the most smartest.
I would think that “The West Wing” inspired many people - both male and female - to pursue a career in public service. A great strength of the character of C.J. was that her sex was pretty much irrelevant. She was just a skilled professional doing a good job.
I think you've really missed the point if you think that CJ never faced different treatment because of her sex. Think of all the times CJ had her authority questioned after she was "promoted", and how hard she had to fight to establish that she was in charge. CJ's character was compelling precisely because of her ability to navigate a male-dominated environment.
@@Aracnapack What makes CJ such a fantastically written character is that they balanced her universal qualities (professionalism, wit, humor etc.) with a specifially female perspective (the challenges of dating as a career woman, not wanting to appear weak when needing secret service protection, a more involved perspective on women's issues etc.). Same with the hurdles she had to overcome. Yes, she has to deal with sexism. But she is not defined by that as a person.
E.g. compare the way CJ is facing obstacles when she becoms CoS to the hate Josh Malina's character is receiving from others who resented him being promoted over them (because they felt they were more deserving). CJ's experience there is clearly specific to a woman, but it's not a caricature or a black-and-white morality play. Why does everybody hate Disney's "stong woman" stereotypes? Because they're written by morons, who are not able to make competent female characters and their challenges feel real. CJ is the exact opposite.
And look what we ended up with. smh
Hopefully it will go more blue this Nov.
Her outfit is inexplicable.
CJ was the BEEEEEEEEEST character!
God msJ the lord bless you and the cast of The West Wing
We need a WW reunion please!!!!🤞🤞🤞
❤❤❤
I studied Communication because of Cj! It's who I wanted to be.
I cannot think of another actor who could have played that role. In fact, every featured member of that original cast--with the possible exception of Lowe--was virtually indispensable.
CJ -- excuse me, Alison -- you free for dinner on Friday?
Loved the show… other than the LARPing for the fantasy of what they believed the Clinton years represented.
