    Wow that looks so good I can actually smell it ! Was wondering if you can use a sugar substitute ? I’m diabetic and with 7 cups of sugar that’s an e.r. visit in itself :( Thank you for this video I’m going to try it and others I love the crockpot and want to try your Mexican cream cheese chicken soon !! Strawberries have a natural sugar Too right ?

    This syrup is on my canning list for this year, but I really need to reduce the amount of sugar.

    Great video. I came right over after i watched your tractor fixin video. You said something about a "Dill" or "pickled" potatoes? I believe? Would like to know how to make that one. If you could share that recipe?

    Thank you for sharing, and does the syrup thicken on its own, and if it doesn't, can I add a slurry of cornstarch? Looks delicious 😋 and just subbed ☺️

    • @Sandy8Candy
      @Sandy8Candy Год назад +1

      You can't can food with cornstarch but you can add it if you just plan to eat it without processing. It should have a maple syrup type of consistency regularly though.

    • @GM-gy4ck
      @GM-gy4ck Год назад +1

      Cook it longer to thicken more.

    Awesome. Was thinking though would the syrup be better in bottles rather than jars with it being a liquid? Great video. 🙂

    • @acresofclaykitchen
      @acresofclaykitchen  3 года назад +1

      Yes, you can put them in bottles, but I don't have any...

    • @Saskue78
      @Saskue78 3 года назад

      @@acresofclaykitchen If you do not have bottles you cannot use them then. Also hope the fruit leather came out good never had fruit leathers before but knew your could make them with the dehydrater.

    If you would have added pectin or sure jel, would this have made jam? If so could you have put some of the strawberry pieces back in at the beginning like you said, to kinda make it a perserve?

    Do you ever decrease sugar and use clear corn syrup as in the Ball recipe? Or, do you when you open a canned jar and add cornstarch to thicken the liquid?

    • @GM-gy4ck
      @GM-gy4ck Год назад

      You are supposedly not supposed to use cornstarch when canning anything. If you want it to thicken more cook it longer. But not too long or you will have jelly.

    Whew.....
    That was a lot of sugar... 7 cups for 6 cups of strawberry puree.
    I think my wife will definitely cut back on it.

    • @acresofclaykitchen
      @acresofclaykitchen  3 года назад +1

      Yes, it is a lot of sugar!! I would normally cut it back also, but wanted to follow the recipe for the video.
