Make sure to double fry your fries! What you did is about the equivalent of blanching the fries. Frying it again at a higher temperature will be able to make it very crispy.
I'm too lazy to double fry it so i prefer baking them! It doesn't taste the same probably but it's not bad!
yes- this is bc after the first fry the potatoes are still releasing a lot of moisture through steam, which makes them get soggy quickly. frying them again recrisps them after the moisture has gone, so they wont get soggy again
And soaking the cut potatoes in cold water before hand helps as well! And if you want to take it a step further you could put them in the freezer for an hour or two as well.
@@gardenx5574 they said it was the equivalent of blanching, not that it was blanching. its adorable how you feel confident enough to be so condescending when you lack reading comprehension skills.
Literally came here just to say this exact thing. 🤣
To make the fries crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside cut the potatoes and pour salted boiling water over them and let them sit for 5-7 minutes. After that let them cool a bit and fry on medium heat.
Yep thats how we do it in British chip shops 👍
@@HolyFreakinDragonSlayer you what were i am its mushy only
@@RiddlerEdits. up north Uk, best chippys ever. BLACKPOOL especially
Hi Lisa! I work with kids and we made these during our summer cooking camp. The chef that day actually used seaweed to wrap the banana blossoms before battering/frying. It helps add flavor and keeps everything from falling apart!
Thank you so much for the shout out it really means a lot!! so glad you enjoyed the batter and tartar sauce recipes this looks insanely good 😊🌱
Just watched the video. Trying to go plant based for 4 days a week so I'll look u up
OH MY GOD it does look like fish 😱
Hello po
Ikr
Ye
Ikr
Lol
Lisa if you don’t like deep frying you should try air frying! Love you
Yes! It really is a great alternative
You can air fry french fries but the vegan fish or even real fish must be deep fried.
The air fryer has limitations and cannot fry everything.
@@kvin9210 but great when I was 10 my mum lemme make chicken tenders in their all the time
agree
"Eww my nasty hands! Ewww!!!!" 🤣
Also, I'm not vegan but this looks pretty good and the banana blossoms kind of looked like chicken so that was interesting lol.
I thought the same thing
your chicken must be the driest chicken ever
Lol awww reminds me of my daughter
@@fatcat7960 it looks like chicken by the way it rips, like the fibers look like chicken meat. eg : 2:29
agreed
Enoki mushrooms also work extremely well as a substitute for crab cakes when fried. I didn’t believe it myself until I tried it and ohhh my goodness the texture, the pull is exactly like crab. It may also work well for fish and chips since it provides a fishy flavor without the addition of the kelp!! Good luck Lisa and love your videos 💕🙌🏽🙌🏽
This is an old comment so I don't know if you'll reply but you basically said enoki mushrooms work good for crabcakes do you know how to actually make them taste like crab like what seasoning and stuff to use for them?
@@Rebirth1-r3y cajun seasoning perhaps? And boiling it with kelp
Banana blossoms are called “jantung pisang” in Malay, which means “banana heart.” We usually use it in salads and curries.
The sentiment is the same in Tagalog. It's called puso ng saging in my province. The inflorescence does indeed look like a heart after all
Day 13 of asking Lisa to make indian style fried rice
Recipe: take a pan add 3/4 tbsp oil then add 1 TSP cumin and mustard seeds then add 3/4 cloves garlic( you can add more if you like.)then add curry leaves roast a little bit for 15/20 sec add finely chopped half onion (for 1 plate or take 1 onion for more than 1 plate ) and 1 tomato wait for 2/3 minutes then add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, everest biryani masala (optional) then add rice and salt mix and add coriander cover for 1/2 minutes mix in between and fried rice or masala rice ready
Pls try this 🙏😭 plssaa
You use cooked rice for this? Why would you add biryani masala.. kinda doesn't make it fried rice then
Ngl I wanna see her make it too-
So you make fried rice by steaming and covering it? And 3/4 tbsp oil. How is it fried rice anymore? Fried rice is made with super high heat and cooked super fast. You can't really cover it to steam it and call it fried rice, you gotta "fry" it. Although the recipe does sound pretty good though, I will try it next time I have left over rice.
@@miss42310 yes cooked rice. actually my mom uses biryani masala for more flavour cause biryani masala has different spices in it (eg. Pepper,Clove .ect ) but it's upto u the rice tastes nice without masala too
“Everything is fine remember” in your voice was genuinely such a calming moment (which I have little of lol) thank you for your simple but enjoyable content💜💜
As a vegetarian I really appreciate this🥺, thank you so much Lisa!!🤗❤
Try boiling your potatoes first for about 10 minutes before frying, Lisa! It helps release the starch from the potatoes, allowing them to be fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside 😄
Tip for deep frying food that can't stay together quite well: freeze em first! Then double batter them and they should come out great out of the fryer
YAAAAAAY💖💓💗
Thanks again for the rec!
The amount of work n effort you put up in your cooking and to go out of your way to make it fully vegan is fantastic ✨
I really love how much Lisa loves her niece. I also have nieces who live far away from me and it breaks my heart knowing that I can't watch them grow as closely as I would like to.
As someone who loved fish but is now allergic I appreciate this attempt
“This will be fun, everything is fine” is me before making any questionable life choices😭
I’m vegan and This was really nice to watch 😊 💜
Unlucky 🤣
That’s sad, sorry to hear you’re a vegan 🤣

Why is everyone in the comments acting kind of sarcastic/mean it’s only a joke I know I m not funny at all 😐😐😭😭 I got no comment to type in my brain sorry if I disappointed anyone
@@santoshmohanty4890 bhai chinta nahi mazak hi kar rahe the ..kisi ka bura manne ka irada nahi tha 😊
So if you boil the fire kinda like blanching for a few minutes before firing it really helps them crispy up so well. Recently learned this tip. I can tell you personal it's awesome
Want more vegan recipes like this 😃.
This is interesting!!! I've never actually heard of banana blossoms before. I'm curious to know how it tastes. Reminds me of Jackfruit
I will also say as a tip on the fries, I rinse then soak mine in a mix of a few cups water and a splash of vinegar. Double frying makes them super crispy and they don't go as dark brown as fast helping them keep from overcooking or being dark on the outside and raw in the center
Banana blossom is actually is a favourable thing in India....some people call it a *chicken on a tree* and u know why...I love these
I wasn’t the only one who thought banana blossom looked like chicken
An entire country does
Lisa and her adorable niece🖤
As a fish n chip purist... This looks really great! V.tempted to give banana blossom a go, cheers Lisa!
If this looks great. then you're definitely not a fish and chip purist.
*You always make everything looks so delicious smh 😭*
The person that asked “who even asked you to fry foods” is HILARIOUS
Partly because of the question and partly because of the way you said it haha
Making fried banana blossoms and chips. Sounds good 👌
I'm not vegan but this looks amazing and I want to make it sometime 💕
More vegan recipes please 🥺 so i can make these for my vegan gf
Wow look so delicious
OOO THAT LOOKS SOO GOOD!!
Try making it with cod and potatoes, it's way better.
I recommend you try canned jackfruit! It a good vegan substitute for most meat!
First and that looks delicious
I don’t think ur first sorry!

Boil water and add your fries , salt and a very small amount of vinegar to the water for 4-8 min let stand and then fry. I think that might help. (Double frying is a trick some use to make them extra crispy)
Attention fellow ramen lovers:
Here is a recipe for a bussin bussin meal.
Make chicken Marichan ramen from the pack like normal and drain almost all the water and leave a little bit left. Add in packet of seasonings and mix.
Next add a little bit of butter and some Chile red pepper flakes. I don’t like spicy stuff but this is bussin
The vegan teacher would be proud
It's awesome you kept the soundbite of your niece roasting them hands. 😂😂😂
To help with fries you should soak them in cold water before you dry them and pat dry and then double dry.
never fill your shallow pan that high with oil, its a health hazard
Day 138 of asking
Can you instead of just eating the level 7 spicy noodles right away do it step-by-step? so by the time you get to 7 you’ll be ready!!😁
Lisa is making me so hungry rn 😋😋😁😁 *screams mom can you make some food from upstairs* lol
I love banana blossom. It’s my favorite veg dish

@@santoshkumarmohanty1098 I’m sorry but you said,’That Vegan Teacher:Finally a worthy opponent’,and l said ‘That vegan teacher:Ah yes a worthy opponent, out battle will be legendary!’. I got inspired by the meme not copy yours!
Why do so many vegans try to simulate meat? There's many many delicious vegetable recipes where vegetables act like vegetables. It kinda seems like you're ignoring what your body wants. If you crave meat, you probably need some meat.
This is the explanation that you need ruclips.net/user/shortsHiHZS6LsIBM?feature=share
They want to eat something they ate before without killing animals for that taste. Isn't that easy to understand
@@RandomVidsforthought you are mentally ill. There should be no moral objections to consuming animals, something humanoids we have been doing for millions of years.
@@bertalovejoy5877 Sure bertie, Whatever makes you feel good in life. I don't care if you want to call people crazy/mentally ill because they have different lifestyle choices than you. You do you Berta Lovejoy. Goodbye and have a good day
I’m a vegetarian (not a vegan). However, I am thinking about going vegan one day. I wish you would make this again but with some improvements. It looks delish. I may try making my own vegetarian fish and chips.
Lisa you should definitely try vegetarian Indian food it's awesome the curries and the spices are breathtaking when you eat the first bite of the food you will think that the paradise on the earth the food product that you cannot stop eating even if you don't like it you can try many things with Palak Paneer ,Pulao ,aloo sabji, Dam Aalu sabji ,veg biryani, aloo paratha etc
There's no such thing as a vegan fish. If you want to eat fish eat a fish for crying out loud. I've never seen a group of people who whine about eating meat and animal life who try so pathetically hard to make everything taste like meat and animal life.
Stop appropriating names, vegans. There isn't such thing as vegan fish.
Thank you for this vegan recipe!
Yum. This is a video for me here but I still watch all your recipes
Lisa why would you do that smh
If u don't eat meat, why do you give meat names and shape what u use like meat?
cuz they are so nutritionally deficient they are starting to lose touch with reality. this is make believe
Everything is fine!!!! I love it
Omg this looks awesome I love fish and chips
This is disrespect
LMFAO
It’s food. It’s still edible
If it has a meat in the name of the dish, why just why. I'll never understand these crazy vegans
Cry about it
We have people with fish allergies that need alternatives.
So it's banana blossom and chips not FISH AND CHIPS @@xwrtk
I really LOVE these longer videos!
Love watching all your videos. They're really enjoyable.. the potatoes look good btw. Stay safe
Stop it damnit...
I recommend getting an air fryer it is easy to use and it much healthier. I have a mooso air fryer, it is so easy to use and it has a basket and chicken turner. I recommend getting one.
Still doesn't beat a fresh Cod fillet and chips from your local chippy!
No such thing as vegan fish-and-chips that's fries and fruit Calling that fish-and-chips is like calling molasses chocolate
Banana blossoms are easy to find here. So I think I'm gonna try this Banana Blossom and Chips
Lisa, soak your fries next time for a couple hours or overnight to wash out the starch. That’ll make them crunchy.
That looks nasty ass hell.
Double fry fries and thermometer is perfect
It looks delicious.
Great firs attempt. 🥳🥳🥳🥳
Looks really good
Bonus points for getting those crispy batter bits out of the oil. 👍
Edit: When making homemade french fries, aka chips, drop them in the oil twice. After you fried them the first time, you needed to do them again after letting them rest or to the point where you said "I thought they were done". Fry them again till they get even more golden. Then season.
I’m vegan but I always enjoy watching your videos
Lisa, I don’t know if you tried this before but how about try using the instant kimichi bowl noodles, drain the water. Add the kimichi powder packet with some olive oil and soy sauce( if you want taste). It’s taste pretty good ! Love your videos !✨
"eew my hand... Eww my nasty handdd! " i love ur niece
When she whipped out the banana blossoms I'm not kidding I legit thought it was chicken 🤦♀️
Thank you i tryed it and it was delicious thank you so much
Have to agree proper chips (not fries) need double or triple cooking, a lower temperature first to blanch them, they can actually be precooked and left in the fridge in fact this gives the best results, salt and vinegar is essential
A good thing to do is refry it. First fry it, let it dry, then freeze it. When frozen take it out and fry it again. Promise it comes out good every time.
It looks soooooooo good
Looks good Lisa❤❤
That looks really good actually
I have watched this like 5000 times no kidding I love it and can you try roast potato crunch it’s like a potato veggie thing inside and crunchie batter on the outside
Just a small tip boiling a potato than frying it will make it crispy on the outside soft on the inside this is how i make my fries and wedges 😄
THAT ACTUALLY LOOKS LEGIT
Once you cut the chips leave them in ice cold water ❄️❄️❄️ for a few hours before, this helps make them more crunchy once you fry them!
Your voice is a stress reliever 😂
Hi Lisa! Try soaking the potatoes in water for an hour (overnight better) so it’s crispy when fried. :)
Looks really good actually
As a pescatarian and I love fish and chips such a good item
That looks super delicious! 🤤🤤🤤
That looks soooo gooood
Of ngl the banana blossoms looks kinda good like I would take a bite of that
