I love how when Po looked at the scroll, he said "it's empty". He saw a container waiting to be filled up. When TaiLung looked at the scroll, he said "it's nothing". He saw something that had no value.
The symbolism was insane too. All he had to do was accept and believe Po is the dragon warrior and train him into who he needed to be. Similar to the peach tree, he cant change the fact it is a peach seed but it will never grow into a peach tree unless he takes care of it
I like how everyone was so mean to Po, but looking back at the furious five’s stories they should remember from where they came from and how they started. Oogway was so chill with Po explaining him to not worry, it will only get better later. He was right. “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it’s called the present.”
@@CLDJ227 Idk that bouncing joke seemed more like bullying. If this movie came out like 2 months ago then it would be panned for fat phobia, I can see it written in stars.
The Shifu vs. Tai Lung fight honestly goes so hard. The sense of finality and emotional weight. The amazing shots, choreography and colors, along with great deliveries by the VAs. And that brief moment when Tai Lung is genuinely touched by Shifu's apology always gets me teary-eyed. Tai Lung is a great and tragic character who honestly deserved better. Some people have speculated that the 4th movie is going to be Tai Lung's redemption arc and I really hope that's true. The 3rd movie felt like a really good place to end the franchise, so when I heard that they were making a 4th one I feared that it would just be a cash grab that didn't add anything to the series. But exploring more of Tai Lung's character could honestly be a really good addition to the series, so I hope the rumors are right.
"All I ever did, I did to make you proud." Still pokes my heart man. Tai Lung worked so hard, for so many years, to be good enough for the one person he could call a father, with the promise he'd be the dragon warrior. But in the end, when Oogway decided against it, and despite all of those years of painful training and hope, Shifu easily accepted the outcome. He did not stick up for his own son despite all the time put into training Tai Lung to be someone great. I cant exactly blame Tai Lung for his anger. Destroying the valley was not good, but he clearly was put through a LOT of stuff because he was led to believe he could be something he was never going to be. And then during that moment of helplessness, when he was told he _couldnt_ be that something, Shifu did not make any effort to reason with Oogway even though Tai Lung was his adopted child....
Right. That line told me that in that moment it was more of Shifu not expressing how proud he was of TaiLung even if he wasn't the dragon warrior, instead of the fact that TaiLung was not the dragon warrior. I don't think it was something Shifu should have talked to Oogway about. Oogway can sort of tell the future so that was destined. What TaiLung really needed was Shifu to acknowledge him even if he didn't become what he was raised for. Tell him he was good enough and that all those years still mean something even if it wasn't what they intended. I wrote this in another comment but this is why TaiLung says "it's nothing" when he sees himself in the scroll. He didn't see value in himself cause he believes Shifu didn't either.
Fun fact about Tigress regarding her teaching from Shifu: She was dangerously powerful, could splinter wood just by tapping on it. Shifu, having dealt with Tai Lung, showed her less affection because he felt she would become like him if Shifu raised her like his own child and not just a student.

Fwiw, Shifu didn’t know what, specifically, to apologize _for_ . Yes, it’s on Shifu that Tai Lung though he’d be ‘somebody specific,’ but Shifu didn’t know where he went wrong (and likely _didn’t_ blame Tai Lung for not meeting the gold standard). And then, Tai Lung does something unforgivable, which retroactively _justifies_ Oogway saying no, and Shifu is left to stew in wondering whether it was something innate to Tai Lung he failed to see (because he saw him as a son), or if it was something he caused (by _seeing_ him as a son and making him dangerous). this movie is a masterpiece, and Tai lung is a perfect antogonist. An orphan abandoned, who was taken in by shifu and raised as his son. Kung Fu gave his life meaning. it gave him a reason to live even when his own parents didn't want him. His whole life he perfected his art in the jade palace, alone with Shifu. he learnt only how to destroy, how to become a weapon. So of course he's proud of his reason to exist! the reason he's alive and the reason he's loved by shifu. the problem was, unlike Po who learned unconditional love from his father before learning how to destroy, so unconditional that he doesn't even realize he's adopted. Tai lung knew only pride and destruction, his love from shifu was granted only when he showed progress in kung fu. that's shown by how he shatters his training dummies' rather then, simply train with then like po and the 5 do. He has no balance, no Ying and yang. that power is misunderstood as worthiness by Tai. so when Oogway denies him his destiny, his whole fucking reason to persist and train till "his bones cracked" every single day! he reasonably goes ape shit. especially since with just one word from Oogway, shifu, his father, idol and savior turns his back on him, his own son. man lost everything in ONE moment. And it absolutely was not his fault. he "laid waste" to the valley of peace ( let's assume that means kills a bunch of people) probably in a rage educed desperate attempt to show off his kung fu prowess, to prove he is the dragon warrior, maybe even only to himself to not go insane. to only then be sent to the bottom of a mountain, in solitary confinement, alone again for 20 FUCKING YEARS!!!! and on top all that he's considered a monster? nah son, Shifu's the monster! he's an immensely empathetic unloved victim of expectation. Unlike Shen and Kai who are just power hungry villains. i really hope KFP 4 gives tai his much deserved redemption, and shifu has to properly atone for his sins.
i guess your idea of a good villain is a shallow irredeemable punching bag then? god forbid an antagonist makes you question your morality.@@happythoughts8291
I agree that Shifu handled this terribly. He actually called him "Dragon", told him he was destined for greatness, never actually telling him the details of what a dragon warrior is/how this all works. That it's mainly destiny, and it doesn't matter how good at kung fu you are (probably Shifu himself didn't know this), as we've seen Tigress being the best of the 5 and still not becoming dragon warrior. And that frankly, it's only a title. Like, Tai Lung would have been amazing at defending the valley. Basically from everything. Instead he was raised with so little info that when he goes for the scroll he completely ignores Oogway. The current dragon warrior. He didn't even know he could fight.
The thing about tai lung is that he was essentially in solitary with only clearly abusive guards for company, as evidenced by the stomping on his tail and "1,000 guards, and ONE prisoner". Im pretty sure shifu didnt come and visit him ,his son, ONCE , in TWENTY FUCKING YEARS . The unlocking sequence showing him taking a deep breath also implies he was locked up tight enough/king fu nerve restricted or whatever that he couldn't even breathe right. a lot of people say that tail ling isnt a villain or whatever. I disagree. Laying waste to the valley and possibly killing people was wrong. But we should acknowledge that at every step of his life, adults seem to have failed him. Training intil your bones crack is likely not a good thing. When oogway said no, he couldve offered the wise advice he was so known for. Shifu couldve tried comforting him. Tai lungs actions immediately post dragon scroll are something he needed to take responsibility for, and he was, wether he liked it or not. Oogway and shifu didnt think . At all. They locked him up and threw away the key. legitimately would not hold anything tai lung did against him if it was after THAT prison. Again, essentially solitary, not one visit from your parents, you cant move a muscle, and the guards can apparently just freely beat you. Thats grounds for an insanity defense.
I went to see this twice in the cinema when it came out. Fucking amazing movie! Every bit of it is epic. Plot, characters, soundtrack everything! The second one is even better and I personally don't think the third one is as much as the first two, but it's still great 😁
Fax I might have to watch the third one cause I was a kid when I watched it. Hated the fight so I thought the movie was trash but I gotta give it a rewatch now that I am much older
It's a great movie. I remember watching it as a kid, I had watched Dragon Ball Z so that made me like fighting but this movie might have made me like Martial Arts more growing up.
This is one of the best franchises in Dreamworks animated history. What happened to the other guy, I like seeing all five of them together when every they react to every show and movie 🎥
Some bit of symbolism I think is missed is after tai lung declares that the dragon scroll is nothing he throws it down and it shows po’s face. Po then explains that there isn’t any secret ingredient and “it’s just you”. Then it cuts back to the scroll showing po’s face in the reflection on the ground from tai lung’s perspective. It’s not you, it’s po. While the scroll showed po that the power was in himself, the scroll showed tai lung that he wasn’t the dragon warrior.
Tai Lung is a warrior who didn't deserve the treatment he got, he grew up thinking he'd become this legendary warrior if he only trained hard enough, and was disciplined enough, to learn everything he could, plus Shifu filled his head with dreams, pushed him in training, promising him that they would all come true if he hones his skills and abilities to the very limits, but when Oogway said NO, Tai Lung's world crumbled because it turns out that he had been struggling for so many years for nothing. He was furious and must have walked to the village because he was completely lost, or else he was telling everyone before how he was going to become a Dragon Warrior, and when he didn't become what he said he would become, maybe someone in the village angered him very easily, he was on the edge of snapping out of anger when he was rejected without an explanation, he just knew he wasn't good enough in Oogway's opinion. Later he spends twenty years in prison, immobilized, he finds out that someone is good enough, and then later he finds out that someone is good enough but is not trained, and disciplined nowhere near his level, Tai Lung is even more disappointed by seeing what was chosen instead of him. Now we don't know if Tai Lung rested at all on the way to the valley, but it seemed that he didn't, and at the end of the fight when he took the scroll and found out that what he was looking for was not written on some paper as he was led to believe, his tiredness finally caught up with him, and Po used his fat to win literally, and used this crazy move which he did not deserve, what's worse, there is no explanation or hint as to why he would know how to do this, he just realized how the move works (That's what I dislike most about the movie of all things). So Po kills this tortured warrior in the end, and if you ask me, Tai Lung did not deserve such treatment, and I believe he could of gone in a better direction if anyone cared, and gave him an actual chance, but NO everything revolves around Po.
I get what you mean. Most of the villains in the KFP universe could've had a better path. (Maybe the peacock even less so). But it was also explained that there was a darkness in Tai Lung that he would never have been the dragon warrior. He was prideful and he let anger cause his own destruction as well. Tai Lung's inability to accept that he can't be the Dragon Warrior was proof that he won't understand what the scroll meant. Shifu DID care, it's just that he didn't know what to do when Oogway himself said no. Instead of understanding that, he fully blamed Shifu when it was also partly the fault of something in him, if that makes sense. And the trilogy is about reclaiming what was once lost so Po being a panda makes sense. In this universe, pandas have always had natural affinity to kung fu. Sure, it wasn't explained how tf Po figured the finger hold out but that really wasn't the main point of the movie. I also would've preferred Tai Lung was kept alive but maybe his anger wouldn't have let him calm down. He couldn't even calm down when Shifu was apologizing so
@@also_Caati I see your point, but everyone has the potential to change and Tai Lung was definitely hard to communicate or reason with, but in his defense being locked up and immobilized in a place for 20 years and plus betrayed, that will keep hate in your heart for a long time. Tai Lung finally found out what he wanted to know for the past 20 years, but he couldn't understand it just like Shifu couldn't because in the scroll was not what is usually found in the martial arts scroll, and that would leave anyone speechless and confused, Tai Lung is not an unreasonable person he could change with time if he was given a chance and not life imprisonment, or death at the hands of some guy who recently entered the waters of kung fu. Tai Lung couldn't be a dragon warrior but he could stay alive as a martial arts master just as the members of the Furious Five, because Tai Lung is the same as Tigress, the difference being that Shifu didn't give his love and dreams the same way as he gave to Tai Lung, and that's why Tigress got time to accept her fate and was more self-controlled better because it wasn't put in her head that she would definitely be chosen, unlike with Tai Lung. And Shifu couldn't reach him even with an apology because it's not easy to forgive 20 years in prison in the moment just like that, and as far as Tai Lung knows he was sentenced to life in prison, and Shifu would never have tried to apologize before this moment in the movie.
My brother and i are most proud of the fact that we got into karate/jujitsu lessons because of Jackie Chan. To this day we watch his classic stuff like Shanghai Noon and Around the World in 80 Days with Steve Coogan, both must-sees. I still wanna get a tiger mask, the 10 Tigers looked AWESOME :D
If you look carefully at Po vs Tailung, Po almost always uses counter style. Tai Lung is basically hitting himself the entire fight. At the end Po ads his strength and uses Wushi finger to crush him mortal Kombat style.
My favorite villain in the series is Shen (Gary Oldman) from KFP2. At one point someone asks him if he'll be happy once he's subjugated the whole world and he says, "It's a start. I might also convert the basement into a dungeon." I hope you guys get around to watching that one.

Unlike Shen and Kai who are just power hungry villains. i really hope KFP 4 gives tai his much deserved redemption, and shifu has to properly atone for his sins.
Wrote all this just to prove why he’s not the best villain
i guess your idea of a good villain is a shallow irredeemable punching bag then? god forbid an antagonist makes you question your morality.@@happythoughts8291
@@happythoughts8291who is then 🤷🏿♂️

The fact somebody learned that you can banish people to another realm by flexing your pinky
Tai lung prison break is honestly the most badass prison break i've ever seen
For real! They made him as powerful and fearsome as possible, so that the stakes raised high.
Y'all are gonna love the next two Kung fu movies
“It’s blank”
“It’s nothing”
Po seeing himself versus Tai Lung seeing himself
It's a great movie. I remember watching it as a kid, I had watched Dragon Ball Z so that made me like fighting but this movie might have made me like Martial Arts more growing up.
Love Master Viper played by the lovely Lucy Liu and she reprised her voice for the animated series!
This was one of my childhood favorites just like HTTYD
Im so thankful for this reaction. One of my top five favorite movies of all time, no bull.
This is one of the best franchises in Dreamworks animated history.
What happened to the other guy, I like seeing all five of them together when every they react to every show and movie 🎥
Now I’m excited for u guys to react to kung fu Banda 2 that is my personal favorite one out of the trilogy
Kung fu panda is a lit fight movie series lowkey🔥 combos be crazy
Man they need to show that kung fu panda 4 trailer
One of the best animated movies
ive been dreaming of this reaction thank you guys😭
So Po kills this tortured warrior in the end, and if you ask me, Tai Lung did not deserve such treatment, and I believe he could of gone in a better direction if anyone cared, and gave him an actual chance, but NO everything revolves around Po.
broooo you perfectly described how i feel
Po figured out the move because he is a Kung Fu head.
@@williamdean4775 No he's not, it’s because the villain always has to die at the end of these movies.
And Shifu couldn't reach him even with an apology because it's not easy to forgive 20 years in prison in the moment just like that, and as far as Tai Lung knows he was sentenced to life in prison, and Shifu would never have tried to apologize before this moment in the movie.
one of my favs as a kid! holds up so well, the second is even better, the villain is voiced by THE GOAT Gary Oldman
I still quote Oogway’s yesterday and tomorrow and today proverb.
all this time i thought ti lung vanished somewhere he was in da spirit realm
the blue guy going "told you"and stuff and saying things that havent even happened on screen yet like hes clearly seen the movie 💀
LOOKING FORWARD TO YOUR REACTION TO THE WHOLE TRILOGY❤
The reaction to the wuxi finger hold from every reaction never fails to make me laugh lolol
Bro, Po didnt have to wuxi finger hold him, Tai Lung was already defeated.
I love this movie!! So much 🤩😍💖 thanks for your reaction
13:21 Patrick had me so weak right here 😂😂
Y’all gotta do all the kung fu pandas now how the story builds is crazy 😊
13:16 the time when oogway enter the cheat code 😂
no probably shut down sequence/code😂
"wingardium chadiosa"👀😂
We all need a Oogway in our lives😢
Just saw a theory that the Titan dog was actually foreshadowing for the kid and dog during the after credits
I mean technically Tai Lung won against him until he saw the scroll, he is def a top 5 villain out there
I like how Oogway doesn't say that Tai Lung escaping is bad news he says, "That is bad news, if you believe the dragon warrior can not stop him."
good thing they releasing a 4th movie next year and he’s coming back with the other villains 😁
i just realised the foreshadowing that's shown after po beating tai lung
Po was the first Hakai user before we got DBS and the reveal of Beerus. Think about it.
(At 23:25) Oh shit! I just realized something, Snow Leopards *eat* both Red AND Giant Pandas.
16:30 Do you mean he looks like Flaco from Mexican Martial Arts?
Po’s dad thought he had the noodle dream but he had the dragon warrior dream instead.
Yo I hope your leg gets better soon Rob! Great reaction I’m glad you guys liked it as much as I do
If you look carefully at Po vs Tailung, Po almost always uses counter style. Tai Lung is basically hitting himself the entire fight. At the end Po ads his strength and uses Wushi finger to crush him mortal Kombat style.
Did Po imagine Tai lung as noodle because the way he was fighting it feels he was making noodles
Dope reaction! You guys should watch 2 and 3 they're both fire too.
I have to admit this is one of Ian McShane's best characters (an evil snow leopard) he's played
Now we need to see them reacting to How to train your Dragon trilogy
Finally, the best animation I've ever watched in my life 🔥 KUNG FU PANDA 🐼
😂 Rob said "can't w8 to kickbox", he? With bad knees and legs like a straw? He will broke his legs 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thank you for saying who hasn't seen it :)
lol that daydreaming bar at the start, that song goes so fckin hard
9:02 Referencing my favourite Jackie Chan movie, Snake in the Eagles shadow. Awesome
I like how they act like they never seen this lol
His dad is also the voice of the old man on the movie Turning Red.
Yall GOTTA watch the whole trilogy
This is the kind of film to watch during Chinese New Year! :)
Make sure to watch the whole trilogy of movies guys! It's worth it
This franchise is honestly the best I've ever watched, better than any other movie this triliogy is goated 🔥
8:09 There's no way he's actually asleep. Bruh, don't do a video if you're so tired, you're gonna fall asleep in said video
Such an amazing trilogy
Rob falling asleep was hilarious
My favorite villain in the series is Shen (Gary Oldman) from KFP2. At one point someone asks him if he'll be happy once he's subjugated the whole world and he says, "It's a start. I might also convert the basement into a dungeon." I hope you guys get around to watching that one.
Oogway to shifu before passing away: Whoever holds this long stick... is gay.
Yeah... Y'all NEED to go ahead and watch KFP2 and 3. Banger franchise!
