Thanks, Monique! We really are good friends and not competitors. It has been so great getting to know you and working with you!
I was a photographer at a rescue in Missouri and 100% believe the photos I took really helped the rescue grow to what it is. I unfortunatly didn't get the strong relationship with a new volunteer photographer that I thought I would. I was always the more the merrier. Either way it all worked out. Its about the animals, not our egos.
Thank you so much for this video! My husband and I are fostering for a local rescue and we want to take photos of our sweet foster babies to help them get adopted.
Oh wonderful!
Great process! I've been working the bunnies and the dogs at the shelter because I have good relationships with the volunteers who work with them, but as a cat dad of seven, I feel a bit guilty that I never get to them. Love the speedy edit at the end too, that was so fast!
Thanks Monique! Just the tips I needed for planning my first volunteer shoot.
Oh wonderful!
This is so good. When I go to my shelter photographing cats is nightmare as they are in a very cramped space 18:59 so I will make this posing table and set up a similar system. The volunteers are a great help.
Fantastic!
Perfect Timing! I'm doing my first volunteer photoshoot at a local shelter Wednesday. These tips were helpful and I didn't consider them before. Thanks a bunch!
You are welcome! Let me know how it goes!🐾
@@ProPetPhotog I will! Thank You!
Thanks for making it much easier for me to start doing this for the shelter in my town :)
It is very valuable. The shelter I volunteer with has the staff handle the animals. I couldn't do what I do without them. I probably take more pictures than I should especially if it's only one or two because I like to try different poses etc. Your workflow in LR is more efficient than mine so I need to do that. Only thing is, since I got Photoshop, I love, just love, using Photoshop's spot healing, clone, content aware etc. for removing things. It's so so much easier than using LR's spot healing (which as you said can do strange things) and clone. Thank you so much for this. It will help me with my workflow!
Yay Patty. So nice that a staff can help, it can be difficult to coordinate volunteers or friends. This workflow in LR works well but cloning and healing is exponentially better in Photoshop! 🐾
Terrific process and wonderful photos!
Thank you!🐾
Thanks for the tips! I love the table. My problem is that, because of cleanliness issues, I take photos in one of 3 viewing rooms. Once I finish a kitty, I have to move to another room, so the previous room can be cleaned. So I take a picture of a gray card before each cat, so I can set white balance for that set when I get home. I'm also afraid to use flash, I don't want to spook them. So I use an LED panel.
Oh that's a lot of cleaning! So far I've been able to set up in one room and stay put. Also I have never had a problem with dogs or cats with flashes (except my dog) and that's having photographed 1000s at the shelters. But if you can get enough power from LED then great! If you want to know how I built the table I have 2 vids here on the channel. Thanks! 🐾
Yay!! Kitty cuteness.
You edit sooooo fast
These are pretty fast edits. If I know they will use images on marketing or printed I will do extra touch ups too. Gotta stay efficient every week though! 🐾
@@ProPetPhotog I hear that
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Thank you so much for your info. I want to go to my local shelter and ask if they would like some pictures done. I need to make a set-up with a table. Thanks for the inspiration.👍🌞
You're welcome! Here's the table build too. ruclips.net/video/dVeXJEIUtKg/видео.html
That was such a great video!
Thank you! Anything you can apply or do differently?🐾
@@ProPetPhotog I would LOVE to have a Frank to help out! Of the 4-5 times I photographed the kitties at our local spca, I had my daughter helping out once, and it was SO much easier. Holding a camera in one hand, a toy for attentions in the other and trying to keep the kitty from jumping off the table is quite a juggling act, as I am sure you know LOL Staff are very busy and have helped with a few kitties when they have time. For the past few months, there have been few to no kitties up for adoption anywhere around this area. Seems like covid has increased the number of people looking for a pet.
Do the kitties get play time each day? Like a special closed off area to stretch their legs and play with toys?
Yes! Volunteers come in during the day and get them out to play. And throughout the day kitties just roam the room. They have a cool walkway shelf system above all the kennels.
