- Walk through my first cat photo session in the new studio space. I cover equipment and settings and behind the scenes of the session and how we adapted to the kitty.
Special thanks to Michael of Fresh Flow Aquatics for permission to share his session.

What a handsome fellow. Henry did great!
Such a good kitty. He did do great!
OMG Henry is such a cutie!! 🥰🥰🥰
Isn't he? So cute he kept walking up to me for loves.
Thanks for sharing the video, Monique. Those photos turned out great! I had fun getting Henry out of the house for a non-vet visit and I know he enjoyed it too!
Thanks for letting me film! Love you channel!
Monique the cat whisperer! It may not be what the client was looking for, but I really like the one of Henry yawning. What a precious photo. Also, the ones with Henry and his human (we belong to cats not the other way around, at least as far as the cat thinks about it). Excellent work under difficult conditions. Getting a kitty to pose seems about like trying to get a deer to pose. :)
He was so friendly too! I had a cat a bit younger in the studio today and the whole session took only 15 min! They each have their own thresholds and likes.
@@ProPetPhotog Yep. Cats are unique for sure. Our neighbor's cat comes over to our house every day. Leslie lets it in and it usually takes a nap on our couch before wanting to go back home. It is one "chill" cat.
What a great houseguest!
It honestly felt refreshing seeing how photographing cats is tricky for you too 😅. I havent started professionally but I've been worried what clients might think if i have trouble with their pets
Yes cats are tough! I always prep clients that I will do everything I can at a cat session as long as the cat is ok.
Oh, I loved this video! You got such great photos of Henry and his person. Photographing cats is right up there with herding them :)
For sure! I've had sessions where I've done both! 4-5 cats at a time. Def need Frank at those!
Great video thanku!!! Always love seeing cat shoots, you did brilliantly, Henry is gorgeous and the final image perfection ❤
Thanks! He was so friendly and would walk toward me if I called him. Too cute.
Reminds me of the photoshoots at the shelter. I had one cat who jumped off the table and decided to camp out under the sink. Next time I did a photoshoot I put up a barrier so a cat couldn't go under the sink. Nice shots and thanks for sharing!!! Thank you Michael for letting us see your cat!!!
Yes it's like that! I am trying to devise a way to block behind the backdrop but the legs are in the way. To the drawing board.
@@ProPetPhotog Funny thing about cats is when I think I've got everything blocked off they tend to find something I didn't, LOL. They are smart!
@@pattymattes7124 so true!
You and Henry both did well with this photoshoot. Cats are an extra challenge with their independent nature. It took my cat years to get comfortable in the studio. Now at 23 years old, she thinks she is a supermodel.
So true! Wow your kitty is rocking the runway at 23!
@@ProPetPhotog Indeed. Better late than never.
Great video and photos, I enjoyed it. Thank you
Thanks!
Thanks Monique. Do you think that continuous light is essential for pet photography? I've only shot my own cats so far, and had no issue - but am worried about having to cancel a shoot if an animal has a bad reaction to flash.
It's best to have several plans. I have this big continuous but a large window or glass door could work. There are smaller led panels but they really do t put out much light. I have a small Speedlite and a larger strobe I take with me to on location shoots too.
Your video is great
Thanks!
