That double sided square drive socket that’s 3/4”x13/16” is a budd wheel socket, it’s not retarded, it’s actually super handy to have if you’re really working on big trucks and not just collecting tools to look cool on RUclips.
You will come to find out that LoadPro isn’t all it’s made out to be. A regular test light at the right spot on a circuit and you’ll figure out real quick where the problem is.
The square 3/4 socket is for the old Budd nut wheel lug nuts. The inner is the the square the outer is a 1 1/2. The Budd system was famous for the wheel studs breaking and your drive axle wheels passing you on freeway.
You are off to a good start It looks like you didnt go nuts and get over your head in debt. I wish there was some videos with older mechanics telling tools they would and wouldnt buy agin.
I worked in the mechanic field for 23 years & I never had a tool payment. I have 90% Snap On Tools, I got a lot of my tools over my career from prior mechanics who left the field they knew I could buy their whole box out with cash.
Unfortunately these techs today are $k in debt. Nuts. Well, at least the snap-on guy can relax in his water front property and cruise around in his Lamborghini. 😲😯
17:02, it's for Bud wheel's. The left side -i think, the lug nuts go left hand tight in the rear for the duley for the outer nut which rides on a Lug-Stud with a sqaure end. That is why that socket is Sqaure. My Harbor freight Pittsburgh set is the same. And is why i got it. Also the price point.
You have the setup I plan on getting you’re just a couple months ahead of me, I have the us general same color and plan on getting the slide top roll cart, I also have a lot of similar tools but a few less. Good to see someone with a similar set up to me
Back in the day we only had mainly Snap-on n Craftsman. Never went in tool debit. Now we have many choices. I own Snap-on, Craftsman, Gear Wrench, HF(Icon, Pittsburgh), DeWalt, Proton etc. Tools make money not boxes. I now have a US General 56", 2 smaller Craftsman n I just purchased the larger side locker. Down the road I will purchase an other 56 or 42 US General. No tool debt ever.
The square socket is for Budd lug nuts (showing my age I guess lol) one side is regular thread and the other side is left hand thread. Don't see them much anymore tho
I agree with the ratchet comment I had a bunch of gear wrench ratchets first starting out and they didn’t fail me at all but when we finally go a snap on truck and got a hold of a few 3/8 snap on ratchets and a 1/2 ratchet yeah night and day difference but BUT I will say the gear wrench ratchets served me well can’t complain
Starting an apprenticeship with CAT as a heavy duty diesel tech soon, any tips for a beginner? Ive worked on tons of light and medium duty vehicles but never heavy equipment. I have basic hand tools besides a huge variety in wrenches. what should i invest in at first? or invest in the very beginning? I have my own tools of course ive collected working on light and medium duty (heavy duty pickup trucks) vehicles, but their supposed to give me either a cart or a box with 3K equivalent of starter tools (not specified). Thanks for the video.
Nothing special, like anything work hard and put in your time you’ll be just fine. All nuts and bolts. For tooling I think asking around the shop seeing what everybody has to say about specifics.
Kinda regret not buying a box with my student discount I went with a hf box but almost 1k off for a roll cart and my school dealer was gonna add and extra 15% for 1000 flat on the box never took the deal
Never worked automotive but at the end of the day it’s still nuts and bolts! Depends what avenue in the industry you take but generally I’d say same shit, larger sizes. If you make the jump you’ll figure out quick what you need to pick up. If you’re interested in making the jump go for it and see what you think!
You need some bigger tools 3/4 inch gun and sockets and then 1 inch gun for things like cutting edges bigger prybars and breaker bars.feld work can suck in the cold and when you and your tools are getting rained on.its hard and dirty but pays a bit better.
My hat is off to you for not going into debt on the tool trucks. I wished they had the Internet when I started turning wrenches over 40 years ago all we had was Craftsman tools and very few second hand tool store. I enjoyed the video keep up the good work.🧰🧰👍👍👍😊😊

You are so wise, I bow down to you. 🙏
Yoo dope tool box setups man. We're honoured to have those stickers on your box, we appreciate the support bro! Keep the videos coming
Tryna be like Cam and Tylor one day👌🏼

Good to know!👍🏼
That style comes in the shop every now and again but not too often.
Or both spin together
That analog volt meter is cool as hell, I would keep it around too. Thanks for sharing your tool box and good luck with your new career
Thanks!

You got a strong start at this. I think you’ll do great and enjoy it for a lifetime.
Thanks, I hope so!

That is the best time to buy quality tools 💯

That looks like an old KR557 top box, and it's in great shape. That was my first Snap-on box.
Great set up. Like the old snapoer
The 13/16 square is for budd wheels on semi trucks. Not to often used on equipment other than some wheeled excavators.

Your Harbor Freight, Gen, III Box looks like it’s the perfect size to complement your slide Snap on tool cart.
I’m guessing 56”?

Also wanted to know where you got the wrench organizers, love them they look great
The ones in the black box are all Toolbox Widget, Alien Space Saver has comparable for a little cheaper I believe.

You could always try looking on marketplace or eBay for somebody selling one. Lots of good deals second hand!
I wanna go into diesel from Automotive any advice?

It’s from the 80s, bought it off Facebook marketplace.

Why do almost all these tool box videos all the guys keep sniffing
I said the same thing. Their breathing in all the toxic chemicals in the shop. 😮
Williams screw drivers
