This is a project based apartment where rent is based on low income. I was on the waiting list for 2 years and I when I got the call I was given a 4 bedroom 1 1/2 bath apartment in the projects.
I know it's not where you live but how you live so I do my best to make it like I would if I had my own house. I am so grateful have a home to live in that is enough space for my family and I but this is what it's REALLY like to live in the projects!

My mom and grandma were very clean and most of all we had love. We were really poor growing up but had lots of love. I miss mom and grandma so much. I pray I get to see them again some day.
The old furniture is a better quality than a lot of the new furniture.

I was a single mom at 23. I was poor. My home was always clean and my son was always fed even if i wasn't. It was rough, but we made it. We are both better people for it. I am 70 years old now. I was a single mom when that was frowned upon by society. You are amazing and keep on doing what you're doing. Your children are lucky that you are a good and caring momma.

I’m in the same position! Single mama of 3 in the projects! I moved here in 2020 while pregnant with my third child!! I had to put my pride away and do what was best for me & my babies!! Combat roach gel is awesome. my old neighbor bombed and they came to my house, i used it and literally days later, i didn't see one. Please try it
I use essential oils and water to spray my house (an older 1960's house). It makes my home smell like Christmas or flowers or herbs all the time. But, it works.
No they are not inevitable, their are poisons out now to keep them away from your home completely, look it up!
Idk how well it works but I saw on an Instagram account that getting Irish spring soap and shredding it and throw it or smudge it in places where there might be bugs and it repels it.
Looks really nice!! I’m a firm believer.. the living space we provide our children… helps them perform better in school. Protects their mental health. Also trains and prepares them for when they branch off into the ADULT WORLD 🌎. I love this sweetheart..

Big roaches are tree roaches, they come from outside, lil roaches is the ones I hate, !!!

I grew up in the projects in the South Bronx back in the 70s and 80s. It was nice back then, but I wish it had been like this, this is more like a house.

Hiiii Baby Girl!!? YOU ARE A GOOD WOMAN!!! Doesn’t matter where you live, YOUR HOUSE IS YOUR HOME. It’s nice and clean and beautiful decor!!!! Buy some wet and forget or outside bleach and clean the patio off. Put you some chairs and a few Dollar Tree pots with a few plants from Walmart. I looooove DT too! You might start a trend in your neighborhood of fixing up the patios. I lived in a lil 650 square foot home with 2 kids. Kept working hard, being faithful to Jesus and moving up. I went from a lil house that the drunks sat on our front porch at night to a 6,0000 square foot home. Now in my late 50’s I’m in a 1300 sq ft home that is paid for. Enjoy where you are and keep looking forward to. God will do AMAZING things for YOU. You will look back like I have and say “wow, look where I came from’ You have a good Spirit and YOU WILL BE BLESSED!Hugs- Rebecca 🩷😘😘🩷
Thank you Rebecca!!! I really appreciate you for saying that! I am so hesitant to decorate that area because I just know somebody is going to come around and mess it up. People already randomly just leave trash there like nobody lives here and I have to clean it up I would be so mad if I spent my money and then somebody came and messed it up. I noticed NOBODY has a cute patio so I just take it as a sign not to even try. It’s ok though, ONE DAY I’ll have a home where I can do stuff like that and actually sit out in it and be at peace 🥰🥰🥰
Would the property managers allow you to put up a temporary type privacy screen? Something you could use to secure your patio decor, while being able to remove easily when you move?? I’ve never lived in an apt., but our oldest does & I understand there isn’t a lot of things they’ll allow, but 🤞🏻maybe if it’s not something permanent-permanent?? If not, maybe you can find one of those Rubbermaid storage sheds to store your patio stuff in that can be padlocked?? That patio & view is to nice to not be enjoyed whenever you want!! The green grass, the birds chirping & the rain was just perfect!! I love the outside & those sounds!!! ❤️☺️

I just moved to the projects, 2 bedroom. I waited 7 years. It's quiet, clean. I love it. Only 2 bathroom. My mom always, "You can live anywhere, As long as you keep it clean.

Hello there from California! Thank you for giving us a tour of your home. I myself was a single mom of 3 kids, 5 and under at the time and I also lived in an income based townhouse in a very rough, ghetto neighborhood. But let me tell you I kept to myself minded my own business and asked the Lord for protection and He kept me and my children safe!! The inside of my home was not a reflection of the outside, it was clean and I made it home! Just cause you live in the hood doesn’t mean your house has to look like you do. I worked hard and saved and the Lord helped me to be able to buy a home in a safe quiet neighborhood, with good schools, just as my son got in Jr high, away from the nonsense. I know things can happen anywhere but God has truly been good!! Watching this brings back so many memories, down to the stairwell closet. What you have done with your home is amazing! It’s clean and cozy!

I love your upstairs bathroom decor. Thank you for this tour. I grew up in the PJ’s as well NYC. I always wondered why the projects like you live in consider it apartments when you have an upstairs and downstairs. I always considered it a title town house. In NYC out PJs look nothing like these with upstairs and private entrance. I wish they were. However you made your space very nice. When you started to explain how you stay to yourself, you gained a thumbs up and a subscriber. Those concrete block walls remind me of the projects I grew up in back in the 70s. Your place is lovely. We never had enough money to make our place look nice. I remember once my mom took me to a neighbor's apartment (which was extremely rare because my stepfather didn't allow us to socialize with neighbors), I could not believe how nice their apartment was furnished compared to ours. It was very nice to see your little son safe and happy in his room.

You're doing a great job, Mama!! I was 20yo and pregnant with my second when I got out of the family shelter and moved to my first apt in the PJs. That was 21 years ago next month! All my furniture was free donations from a group that helped homeless families. I mean from the mattress to the silverware they gaveme EVERY. THING.- I had NADA. Slowly but surely I replaced things and over time built a home for my babies. When I finally got Sec-8 we moved to another place, I started my career and next year we're planning to buy a house of our own! I feel like I'm starting late sometimes, but I'm grateful for the journey and those crazy days in the projects lol makes today that much sweeter. I hope you enjoy the journey and keep making videos. I was born and raised in the projects. Then we moved. When I became an adult I moved back for 10 long years. I signed up for section 8 (yes you can do that in some states) I received section 8 and moved into a new construction apartment. ❤ it! After 12 mo, I got in the section 8 homeowners program and now I own my own home. I only make about 38k and section contribute to my mortgage for 15 years or until I make over 45k good luck on your journey

Very nice apartment tour. I love it. I like what you said about your bedroom furniture. I like the fact that you have your own style and it’s not the typical modern glam that a lot of people are doing. It shows character and individuality. For the bugs get you some Boric Acid and sprinkle it behind everything including the stove, fridge, your washer and dryer. Behind your couch and in all cabinets and drawers. They will take it back to the nest. I promise it will work. Also put outside yours doors if its the big Palmetto bugs that try to come in. I’m like you. I don’t sleep in no dark house.

When I was in my 20’s (I’m 49 now) I lived in low income housing with my 2 kids at that time. I was proud of my 3 bedroom townhome, I always kept it clean. I got a lot of compliments on my decor. I worked full time and it was a good feeling ❤

We have a lot of the same Dollar General vases, rocks, flowers, and other household goods and decorations. 11 years ago, I moved to a different state to start over with nothing and had to outfit my entire studio apartment. There was a Dollar General across the street from my job and i looked forward every lunch break for months shopping at Dollar General to pick up needed items to make my place homey as each paycheck came in. I got everything from rugs, lamps, dishes, art, candles, hangers, storage, cleaning items, and more.
Eventually I bought favorite décor pieces and furniture from catalogues and other stores as I could save up to afford them but a large percentage of my décor was initially just from Dollar General. I still have it all over a decade later. Visitors couldn't believe this and were shocked that you really don't have to spend a fortune to make your place look stylish and homey.
Thanks for taking us along to dispel stereotypes about Project living. I love your style and design eye. As someone STILL in a studio, your place seems super spacious and not low income at all. When we take pride in what we have no matter how much less it is compared to others, this always shines through. I also recommend finding unique pieces at thrift shops, free to take curbside items, and yard sales. I have some of it all!
