Immediately you are so friendly, generous if heart and informative, with the useful techie info that I cannot wait go and let rip with the paint and paper.
Hi Bob. Thanks for the video. Just want to say I loved it when you put down that gorgeous yellow against the black and white patterns. Love it. ❤️ And found it very inspiring.
Thanks Bob, so glad to have found you and your channel - I'm an abstract artist and I've started to dip my toe into adding collaging techniques, especially printed out quotes in different fonts. Your video has given me the courage to be MORE free and experimental! I'll invite you to my next solo show! :)
I took a Collage Workshop through my local Art Guild here in the hill country of Texas...and had a great time!!! It was a lot of fun not having to worry about any rules or getting perspective correct....just having fun!! I made a collage featuring my favorite golfer of all time, Jack Nicklaus. I took a picture of him that was in a golf magazine, tore out some pages from an old "Rules of Golf" and raided my wife's scrapbooking supplies for some chip board and then cut out individual letters that spelled out his nickname, Golden Bear!! I loved how it turned out and it now hangs in my "Man Cave" along with other golf memorabilia of mine!!! I am currently doing another one right now and am using some new paints by Pebeo...man are they fun to use!!!
Ohh thank you wholeheartedly for teaching us your amazing working technique. I am starting in this incredible art and any teaching from a master is welcome. Thank you from Brazil.
I bought myself some bigger brushes to join the challenge. I usually get easy in details.... I really want to get into abstract style. Thank you for all the inspiration.
I found your link today as I was looking for ideas to take my usual mediums of charcoal/oils or charcoal/pastel/ acrylic work in a new direction. I had already drawn out the images on watercolor paper with charcoal and pencil and cut them out and was trying to come up with something unusual for me. I appreciate your input and I'm gonna go put it to use right now lol. Cheers
Thank you. I'm inspired to try collage. For year's now I do those complicated quixotic paintings and mocking myself with careful never ending work which is sometimes going nowhere (some of my paintings are dated like 15-18 which means years - and they not even that good) and I'm pretty tired of it. I feel like I deserve some playfulness in my life :D thanks again, I can't remember last time when I was on "artistic rush" like this :)
So Bob- do you NAME these types of paintings before you start like you taught us in class or are these just for fun? I was curious. Thanks for the videos- I love your Bob Blasts. Mo
Hello Bob! Just found ur channel....fantastic! Can you please tell me if u have a video where u created the darkish blue with American flag in the background?
Hi - Thanks for writing, and welcome aboard! There is no video of me painting the blue one - the American flag is a piece of collage paper. I have since worked on this piece and it has entirely changed!
Thank you for this video! I guess I wasn't looking up the right kinds of videos because I've been creating collages and paintings for a year and never found your videos until today! I've been cutting out faces (some recognizable as famous people) and text from magazines but I wonder about the copyright issue...maybe I should distort the faces in Photoshop? Anyway, thanks for this video...now I have to take time away from painting to watch more videos from you! Ha ha!
Bob dear Bob! I have 2 questions on your collage process. !. do you make copies of commercial designs or do you create your own. 2. When you have them copied, does the ink smear when you apply gel medium or paint?
Did you ever try it? He has another video saying how he makes his own papers. You're not really using the paper for it's design properties, but to have a little something to show thru when you do the next layer over the top. It doesn't smear enough to ruin the painting. You could always put a thin layer of gel medium over the collage paper and see what you get but it's not really necessary. You're working back and forth in layers. Most of the paper is going to be covered up. You probably tried it by now since it's years later but I'm stuck in a snow storm and binge watching his videos and hoping to start some collage later today. Most of my supplies are at my regular studio so I have to make do.
Hi Sean - You asked this question a few days ago - sorry it has taken me longer than anticipated to respond. I don't roll up a canvas with collage. I use pre-stretched canvas at the beginning. I do not recommend rolling and shipping collage.
Hi Allen - My first questions are - Mounting on what? and What kind of protection? My quick answer is to mount/glue your collage on a stiffer board or 1-inch thick gator board - which is like foamboard, only more durable, and will not warp. Use any strong, water-based glue from the hardware store, not the art store.
Bob plz reply me I hv a event coming up and thy give me on spot topic nd ask me to do collage so tech me the basic techniques to do collage like Abraham Lincoln in ur wall
Bob you are a terrific teacher and artist. Thank you!!😊

I came to find out what to use to stick an acrylic painting (on cartridge paper) onto board and ended up subscribing
The new Bob Ross??? :)
New album coming out soon...
would you recommend to use wallpaint as gesso, that you could buy at the hardwarestore?
The yellow paint you applied looks like you watered it down a bit for more transparency. Is that done with water or acrylic medium?
Bob dear Bob! I have 2 questions on your collage process. !. do you make copies of commercial designs or do you create your own. 2. When you have them copied, does the ink smear when you apply gel medium or paint?
Did you ever get an answer, I wonder myself what type of copy would not smear.

Would you be able to roll a large canvas with collage to ship without damaging the painting? Thank you!
Hi Sean - You asked this question a few days ago - sorry it has taken me longer than anticipated to respond. I don't roll up a canvas with collage. I use pre-stretched canvas at the beginning. I do not recommend rolling and shipping collage.
@@RobertBurridge appreciate the response. Thank you
Is the Elmers glue which is a PVA glue safe for artworks that you wish to conserve and will it yellow the paper?
I use acrylic gel medium as my "glue" - I do not recommend using Elmer's Glue.
@@RobertBurridge thanks for the response and the videos
Bob, how do I mount a foam core board collage for protection
Hi Allen - My first questions are - Mounting on what? and What kind of protection? What brand is the acrylic glue?
