Ugly truth is that *ALL* of us were once like those mockers in the room, before God decided to save us from ourselves. Sometimes even as believers, we still can act like the mockers.
And many “believers” continue to ignore His commandments, focusing instead on the forgiveness He offers instead of the Spirit who enables us to obedience of His Instructions (Torah). Sin is Torahlessness. 1 John 3:4
@@rmp7400 This is not Biblical. The worship (veneration) of saints is Roman syncretism. Worship of anyone other than Yeshua is forbidden. Miryam (Mary) was born a sinner, and learned via the Spirit, to live righteously, that is keeping Torah. Come out of her My people.
watching this movie, Jim Caviezel's performance becomes much more meaningful knowing that while filming, he prayed to God to not let the audience see him but Jesus through him. I think thats why Passion of The Christ stands out among Jesus movies.
I always thought that when I look at pictures of the actor Jim, he literally appears to be a different man than the man in this movie. Quite interesting to think about that given what you’re saying.
Yes an atheist came to the faith thru this film, his name is Paul a missionary in England, his channel is called „closer to God“ here on this platform, just watch his testimony ,
@Moon Shoes Far from what it means, but at the same time, you made a perfect example of why it's better to not waste your time on some people which is the point of the parable
@@cowel8734 The point of the parable is to dehumanize people who don’t agree, and give you an out from critical thinking. You’re a perfect example of that. Notice I didn’t have to dehumanize you to express disagreement. Another likely difference between us….I just think you’re wrong. Where you probably believe I am deserving of eternal torment. Am I wrong? Do your beliefs include the idea that people who don’t believe will be judged and end up in a place like hell?
@@moonshoes11 The biggest flaw of Christianity: "If you dont believe what I believe, you will suffer your entire life, and then burn for all eternity after you die. Even if you never even heard of Christ". I know Catholics and many other denominations are little more lenient on this front, the Catholic concept of "pre - Christ righteous pagans" comes to mind, but still, most Christians believe that someone being tortured forever is an acceptable thing to do to someone. If you torture people, your evil, so if god is fine with "bad" (no such thing, people are a product of their environment, genetics and experiences) people going to hell, then he is by my standards, an evil god. But in reality, the very concept of omnipotence is a human creation. NO one really knows the truth, and claiming certainty is for con men and fools. Claiming certainty destroys discovery, imagination and the scientific processes that have led to our lives improving. Claiming certainty stunts growth and innovation. Why claim to be certain when you can live a life of intriguing and mind expanding thought experiments regarding the true nature of the universe? Christians are kings of claiming certainty, instead of maintaining an open mind that is open to skepticism and alternative theories. Im a big nerd, so being religious OR being an athiest seems like a boring existence, Im an agnostic athiest, I believe the "truth" will probably never be known, and that is a beautiful thing because it allows us to use out imagination. I like religion for its story telling i guess, but I look at it the same way I look at that show "Ancient Aliens": its just fun speculation based not on evidence but very human ideas.
Yes, i think The same, that was head hung in shame, because he couldn’t, or just decide to do nothing to help Jesus. So many sytuations, in our daily life, that we just hung our heads in shame. Jesus please, forgive us..
I also think that fellow was intended to be someone who understood who He was but refused to do anything but go along with the "cool kids" in the room. But he knew it was the Lord and was ashamed he wouldn't do anything to stand with him. And that describes pretty much all of us.
@@eddarby469 It wasn't because he wanted to go along to get along. It was because he was too weak to go against the crowd. He looked like a servant or someone lower in rank to the rest of them. If he had been wealthier or had more power, he might've been able to stand against them. And that is the reason why most people are willing to be sheep (incl. me).
Herod and others in this scene didn't frame, torture and kill Christ. It was the very godly - in fact, 'too godly'/judgmental type - who framed, tortured and killed him. We should be more like Jesus and not look down on and judge others. The most abominable, un-christlike actions today come from those who claim to act in the name of god.
Same, but we all have. I don't think we intend to cast pearls before swine, but to see the hard hearted come to the truth. That's our heart. We think we can win the mockers over with our many words and skills in debate. However we end up finding out the hard way it doesn't work. We regret it when it's too late - when the words have been spoken but resound back in our faces. Only God can soften our hearts to bring us to a place of repentance.

Well, in order to have ALL power and ALL glory, he had to be the most humble man to EVER walk the face of the earth. God didn't give him everything for no reason.....
This is, you know, an actor. In a movie. Based on the writings of men, that only used those writings to gain power and commit massive atrocities in their name.. So uh.. yeah, okay.
I love how in this scene Jesus was knowing to trust the will of the father when he was surrounded by chaos and abandonment you can see how calm he is when he’s questioned and is silent
Think of all the righteous men that God chose to lead the Isrealites throughout the ages, and then here you have God in the flesh faced with this thing, seeing for himself how far his chosen people fell.
The first Christians did not believe that Jesus was God; in fact, they did not believe that he existed before his conception and they did not believe that he was born of a virgin. The first Christians believed that he was just a man who was destined to be a messiah in the way that David and all other previous kings of Israel were; they believed that he would restore the independence of Israel from the Romans, reestablish its status as a kingdom, and usher in an era in which all peoples would worship Yahweh, the god of Israel.
it's very funny that most of the people says that Luca De Dominicis (the name of the italian actor who play Herod), was a great actor, because he's never be an actor, he's a founder of a videogame magazine in italy. He never played in another movie. Never anymore.

An interesting subtext to this scene is that there are two sets of villains in the room: Herod and the pharisees. Neither likes the other. The pharisees are rightly disgusted by Herod's hedonism, while Herod sees through their pretensions.
I know this movie is anointed by God. I cry every time I watch it. It's such a beautiful depiction of the life of the Lord Jesus. To this day, I think it's still the best movie about the Lord Jesus that I've ever seen.
This scene is just unbelievably good. So many amazing nuances, like the part where Herod asks Jesus “How about me. Will you work a little miracle for me?” And the woman quickly sits up, genuinely shocked and curious about what could possibly happen. Just an incredible combination of simplicity and high drama, well done!
I disagree, it was a caricature of what likely happened. It reminded me of Star Wars where the whole bar is looking at Luke. It just paints them as an entirely "other" so that we feel a more clear sense of right and wrong and who to apply it to. Mel Gibson makes very black and white movies, he rarely displays nuance.
There are parlor tricks in the bible. The fleece is bone dry with dew all around it, and the next day the fleece is soaked with water, with no dew anywhere. - Judges 6:37
The power of silence. Jesus completely disregards Herod by not answering his questions. “Answer me” Herod says. The Christ ignores Herod and without saying a single word, Christ says “I don’t answer to you”
Well, Jesus didn't look like a God, he was just a human, maybe that's your answer. I doubt it if you recognized a God in him if you met him face to face.
@@EQOAnostalgia youre actually wrong about that. Jesus lived this life as a man, so it was discernment. He put off his God abilities and put on corruptible flesh. If he had not lived this life as a man then he could not have been the sacrifice for mankind. The Bible says that he received his instructions from the Father, he did not act on his own accord.
This movie is awesome Mel did an awesome job. His direction shows me that he understood the Gospel and the meaning of the story. Can't wait for the resurrection
Sometimes it's like this between a follower of Christ and a non-believer. I had someone recently mock my beliefs and ask me to provide proof that God exists. I asked them to specify the type of proof that would transform them from a non-believer to a believer. This caught them by surprise, because they did not desire to believe, but simply debate and defend their position. Someone who is not ready to believe will not no matter what you put before them. Jesus said "He who has an ear let him hear what the Spirit is saying." But many don't, and we have to be willing to move on rather than toiling in unproductive soil.
I have finally learned the power of the right to remain silent! When no matter what you say it will be used against you! Wish that I would have understood this principal from a young age - it would have saved a lot of needless pain.
Its "Do NOT throw your pearls BEFORE swine" NOT "Give pearls to swine" basically "Do NOT Place words of wisdom in the Ears of Fools"! As Fools will NOT understand and will react aggressively towards you, because you have shown them up for the Fools that they are! Very common today!
@@LukeLovesRose yes I have seen that before there are a few other similar ways too. God knows the intentions of our hearts and that we are confessing and praising his name.
I love this scene because it’s a message for us all. Jesus was so humble and silent that he would not look Herod in the eye because he knew he was swine. They spat on him and mocked him. This is what Hell looks like. Whether you’re a believer or not, there’s going to be a day when you’re going to be judged. Jesus will be your only ticket out of Hell. Totally agree with you. That was another amazingly brilliant scene. So much conveyed without a single word. Dedicate that 5 to 20 minutes to God. I only read 1 chapter anymore. Don't watch things that make you doubt too often. Amass as much non-doubt as you can. Watch good sermons from reliable preachers. Spend time in His presence. Cleaner television. Etc... F. Pray with authority of who you truly are. You're a child of God. He is infinite and has given us authority over many things. G. I say "I place a demand and I decree in Jesus name, amen It's not like a spoiled brat making demands. It's like a demand being placed on a package you ordered. With authority. H. Fasting can give you a very powerful edge. Even a meal a day or only eating veggies. I don't ever do this anymore, because I don't doubt. I. Praying from under the Shadow of of His wings, that it speaks about in Psalms 91. It gives you an edge and much more. You can speak from that place too. I don't have to do this anymore either unless I want to or it's a harder prayer. J. The more you pray the stronger they get. It goes up and down though as it developes. K. A prayer closet gives you an edge and is a great place to spend time with Him. L. Don't let pride get a hold of you once you do get answered prayers, because it leads to shame, and can destroy your life until you deal with it.

It wasn't really a trial, more like an informal examination. The formal trial was before the Sanhedrin, but they lacked the authority to pass a death sentence on their own, so they went to Pilate, and he in turn sent Jesus to Herod hoping Herod would take the problem off his hands, but Herod sent him back mostly because he feared a backlash from the people if he was the one who had Jesus executed. None of them really cared whether Jesus was innocent or guilty, what to do with him was a political decision, and Pilate's waffling was because he needed the cooperation of the Temple priests to rule Judea but was also afraid of popular unrest if he killed a popular religious leader. Don't think any of them had the slightest qualms about executing a man they knew to be innocent.
such a crucial period of history, what no one realizes is these events had to happen just at this speciific period of time so when christianity spread it would reach the maximum number of humanity when they spoke the same language and under a regime so brutal that people just thirsted for hope. His mother, the Most Holy Virgin, was preserved from all original sin....just as Adam & Eve were.
Only Holy Mary did not betray our Creator+

Sometimes it's like this between a follower of Christ and a non-believer. I had someone recently mock my beliefs and ask me to provide proof that God exists. I asked them to specify the type of proof that would transform them from a non-believer to a believer. Sure, that happened. I'm unconvinced, to say the least.
@@macavalli2619 Here are some tips. God can still answer your prayers without all this kind of, but if you really want to pull things down and make it happen...
A. Keep the commandments best you can. John 15 for reference.
B. Forgive everyone. It's obeying God. I forgive as soon as I feel unforgivness. This doesn't mean not getting some people out of your life. It's good for your soul and one of the most important things to do for yourself too.
C. Be an actual believer Christian who has the Holy Spirit and wants to serve Him where it counts at least.
D. Pray to the Father in Jesus name. I do talk to Jesus a ton though. Either way though, He hears us really.
E. Pray without doubting. To get rid of doubt I recommend reading the Word when you wake up.
@@nonprogrediestregredi1711 Well I am telling the truth. It is written that there are 7 things God especially detests. Two of them are "hands that shed innocent blood" and another is a "false witness." If I was lying about these things, it would be as evil to God as murdering an innocent. satan is the father of all lies.
Other people have been a part of my prayers many times.
There have been 3 people at my church who had stage 4 cancer and the church prays for them and they've been healed over night.
I had a woman call me not too long ago and she told me she was healed from schizophrenia after I prayed for her a long time ago. Which according to scientists is impossible to heal from, I hear.
We had a deaf woman at my other church who was healed by church prayer and can hear.
Not too long ago, I told a co-worker 2 stories and asked if I could pray for him and he said yeah. I grabbed his hands and prayed for his family, finances, and things. I came to work 4 days later. He said he had gotten promoted to GM Manager over a bunch of different stores. Getting paid from 900 to 1600, max tips on reg, and his wife was getting insane overtime money. I mentioned that we prayed and he looked at me like he saw a ghost.
@@dc_latername9064 i appreciate you taking the time to write this out. See GOD answered one of my prayers instantly--this was the 1st time I prayed in over 2 decades... I then got arrogant/prideful and he immediately took away what He gave...
I was shook as it was a substantial sum of money
I don't care too much about what I lost because now I know GOD is real and He loves us and I can make do with less when He's by my side
Stay blessed brother 🙏
This movie, as good as it was, didn't even approach the level of suffering Jesus endured. I feel so unworthy and humbled of what he did for me centuries before I was even born. I couldn't even begin to know how to repay Him. Thank you, Lord, for thinking about an insignificant soul like myself.
This where the Bible told you that being silent doesn't mean your weak or coward. You just have the capacity to restraining yourself from all the negativity and foolishness of this world. That's being wise and humble at the same time.
the silence of Christ teaches us so much...
I TRULY weep for those who mocked him that day!
They were raising their middle finger to the DOOR to Heaven!
Same
Not just the mere door to Heaven, but raised their finger to the King of Heaven. Heaven is about being with Christ, not Christ is about being in heaven.
Ephesians 6:12
12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

The greatest Way to win arguments is to say nothing
Silence Is Golden
The fact that Jesus is standing there being hated by so many and he doesn't say a word when he too was being judged makes this scene all too powerful Slience can say alot more... Jesus was no fool he knew the whole story from day 1 and he told his followers he would die and be rejected and hated. "Remember if the world hates you they hated me first!" Jesus died for me I will die for him. Jesus can sense a believer in the room he was in too. He was alpha male and he spoke the truth. Some people got it and some didn't Yeshua is the KING.
*The only man who felt SHAME for the company that was around him and could not look Christ in the eye because of it. Perhaps the only man there who knew the trial for the sham that it was!* (O:44)
@Christus Veritas. Just like Simon of Cyrene......
This scene always reminds me of Jabba's palace in Return of the Jedi.
Thats not as stupid as it sounds. It does give indeed the flair of some kind of whorehouse.

Orientalism
Just as true & historical.
such a crucial period of history, what no one realizes is these events had to happen just at this speciific period of time so when christianity spread it would reach the maximum number of humanity when they spoke the same language and under a regime so brutal that people just thirsted for hope. It was inevitable this event would be remembered(factual or not) and the proof we are still discussing it today. If I were a divine being I dont think I could have picked a more perfect time to introduce a belief structure that would have such an impact as christianity.
Beautiful scene, the young man speaking and everyone watching was hoping to see him perform a miracle so that they can be healed from whatever..The young lady sat up with hope in her eyes and heart..today in 2024 believers all around the world are looked at like this because people dont understand why we praise or act the way that we do..😊
His silence was Golden✨️

0:48 Jesus always identifies himself with the lowest classes... the poor, oppressed, outcasts and sinners. Its beautiful that God does that. I think that was a moment of recognition and camaraderie between the two "least of these".

Glory to God. John 10:27-28-"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand."
The ugly truth is that so many people hated Jesus for what he stood for and what he was all about. Yeshua was his real name which means he who helps. Jesus was slient when he was being mocked and hated. That's basically smart b/c slience can say alot more. Nobody knew or understood what he was saying and trying to do. He was the messiah and he came to save the world. Jesus died for me I will die for him! He was hated and Jesus knew what he was up against and in the end he won.
It's a hard lesson to learn. Make it clear to yourself that there are people not worthy of your time nor questions to be answered especially if they're ready to spit on it.
Its difficult keeping your Peace whilst the world around you goes crazy, how Yeshua over came what was thrown at Him just totally blows my mind, deep Respect and Love, the first reaction is to answer a fool but it's your foolishness in you that grows if you think you can reason with the crazy.
Thank You Heavenly Father for Your Beloved Son
What he endured for us is so humbling how could I not submit my life to him and live to glorify him he gave everything and did it willingly thank God Jesus was the savior who saved the world

Jesus said, “Whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” If you have done these things, God sees you as a lying, thieving, blasphemous, adulterer at heart, and the Bible warns that one day God will punish you in a terrible place called Hell. But God is not willing that any should perish. Sinners broke God’s Law and Jesus paid their fine. This means that God can legally dismiss their case: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Then Jesus rose from the dead, defeating death.
