Sorry, Emmaus is not in the Gaza strip. Either it is the abandoned Palestinian village, Amwas (near Latrun) at a distance of 160 stadia from Jerusalem or it is Abu Ghosh, where i live, at a distance of about 60 stadia from Jerusalem. I believe it is the latter. But Gaza is much much too far. With all respect.

I am very glad that the Bishop had the experience he did, but as the Palestinian bus driver and tour guide warned him that is not normal. Sorry, Emmaus is not in the Gaza strip. Either it is the abandoned Palestinian village, Amwas (near Latrun) at a distance of 160 stadia from Jerusalem or it is Abu Ghosh, where i live, at a distance of about 60 stadia from Jerusalem. I believe it is the latter. But Gaza is much much too far. With all respect.

I am very glad that the Bishop had the experience he did, but as the Palestinian bus driver and tour guide warned him that is not normal. Why are people really starving in Gaza? The truth is that Israel is letting in all the aid it possibly can but what is supposed to be free to the people of Gaza, is taken by Hamas and other Islamists and sold to the people of Gaza.

In the Gospel of Luke 24 v 13, Dr. Luke tells us that Emmaus was threescore furlongs from Jerusalem. Threescore = sixty furlongs; and there is eight furlongs in one mile, therefor, the distance from Jerusalem to Emmaus is seven and one half miles, i.e. 7.5 miles which would take less than two hours to walk. Emmaus is nowhere near Gaza . Gaza city is around 52 miles from Jerusalem. Listen to Mar Mari's talk again, and read Dr. Luke's account which is greatly at variance to Mar Mari's. Dr. Luke was a person who got his information from eyewitnesses of the actual events probably from the two who were on the road to Emmaus, I think his account of the distances are more accurate than Mar Mari's. He needs to rethink his facts because they are wrong.
