"Robert.. This is supposed to be non-violent".
Robert: "hmmm mmmh." Freaking love Robert
Robert Freeman before The Freedom Ride was one of the Tuskegee Airmen during WWII, and comes from a place of experience that there are moments where you absolutely need to fight back to preserve your rights as he was willing to go into the skies and stick it to Nazi Germany.
😂 Yeah that was funny af
Right
Robert said: well imma bout to get NON-nonviolent on they azz
You know, it's easy to follow the no violence rule when you're literally invincible.
Would you rather someone invincible NOT follow a no-violence rule? Seems like you're asking for trouble there.
I noticed the SS in your name

It das not really matter what age he was Robert knew how to use those hands
The moment his sperm found the ovum Grandad shot up from bed eyes wide open and said "I know kung fu."
@Jerrius Tate I doubt he was even dad at this point. Though it is unclear when he met his now late wife.
Now we know where Huey gets it from. Robert was mastering the ancient art of belt fu for ages.
Bushido Brown would have known the backstory of how Robert was whooping ass back in the civil rights era then it could have been interesting. Bushido Brown vs Robert Freeman
Legend has it that Robert buys his belts from Pigly Wigly.

I love how the big guy is not only tanking everything like its nothing.
But also taking everyone down in such a fluid non-harmful way.
What a beast.
Same as me
Yeah it's pretty interesting how he is defending himself but at the same time isn't trying to hurt his opponents. Especially that bit where he caused that one guy to fall but broke it by using his shoe to catch his head before it hit the pavement
That's pure Akido
Kinda looks like how Luke Cage would fight.
Dude using some Aikido ass shit like he’s Steven Segal’s imagination lol

Season 4 might have been the weakest, but this was my favorite episode.
the disappointed koala agreed
the disappointed koala I dunno, grandad was a bit out of character. in stuff like the Martin Luther king episode he's all down for the struggle, here he wants no part of it.
Really, I saw Grandad as always someone who primarily wanted the fame of being call a hero without actually doing heroic things which I though fit his character. It been a long time since I seen the show so my memory might be a little blurry.
[Ids5621-Retro] Naw it’s pretty in character, in that same episode he stated that he doesn’t like Rosa Parks because she stole his thunder and got famous instead of him, he even prank called her before she died. In the first episode he also brought a raincoat to a protest.
The original writer didn't write it I think they got rid of him or something

Roberts stand is his belt lol
Sounds more interesting
"Robert! We're supposed to be non-violent!" "Mm-mm"
😭😂💀
the subtle difference between Robert and Sturdy at work: Sturdy was built like a mountain and was a Football Team Player who became a Reverend, Robert was a WWII Vet who fought against Nazi Germany as one of the Tuskegee Airmen and was decorated for his bravery and valor (though Moe ended up stealing one of his medals). Sturdy was arguably younger than Robert, and likely never had to experience War like what Robert went through and how it had shaped his perception to approaching conflict. Sturdy played defensively, while Robert had to point out that there can be moments where fighting is necessary to survive as _"Kill or Be Killed."_
@@0hvist great analysis.

I know it'll never happen, but I want just ONE season of The Boondocks that's just a serialized high octane action comedy because this show does fight choreography so goddamn good
I'd settle for a movie where the whole freeman family and some the side leads have to fight there way out of a big situation. Each each getting a fairly big win on their belt
That would be awesome, lil'nigga 😆
Rosa Parks: "But what about the strategy of non-violent direct action?"
Robert: *Being choked* "Fuck that bullshit."
LMFAO
Wasn't Rosa Parks
yeah Robert hated rosa for stealing his thunder
Bruh yes killed me
Rosa Parks was in the episode and she wasn't that woman
That wasn't Rosa Parks , that was Diane Nash
It's easy to be non violent when you're black superman. That reverend was definitely blessed.
This whole vid was just a black presentation of Batman and Superman's fighting styles.
Body of Steel.
It’s so funny how she said Robert is frail and yet he’s so fast and uses a belt like an extended limb.
He's a glass canon, highly skilled and deals decent damage. But, can't take alot of punishment
So much like his grandsons.
@@depravedsouls9975before he participated in the Civil Rights movement, Robert was also a Tuskegee Air Force pilot during World War II and given how the military intensely trains their Soldiers, pilots, sailors, SEALs and Marines during times of war, that may also be how Granddad became such as skilled and formidable opponent in his prime and what also would be the trait that both Huey and Riley (sometimes) would inherit as the Freeman family were all exceptional fighters in their own right.
Holy I love how that tall guy is a gentle giant but a beast!
That's MLKs way of begging for acceptance from the white man lol That's why Malcom X didn't fuck with that shit. Said man was too forgiving.
@David Edosomwan
Given how the current BLM is seen, violence wasn’t really the best route. Everyone looked bad.
@David Edosomwan he literally said that in his interviews. And I'm not your boy. Learn some respect.
@David Edosomwan Lmaoo it wasn't disrespect though. It was the truth. The man was begging for it...how tf he going to tell us to not fight fire with fire when they're literally setting us on fire. He wanted us to play peaceful while they beat our asses. Then when he finally realized that bull shit didn't work he apologized in his end speeches and the same men he told us to sit at the table with shot hit in the fucking head in broad day light in front of our own damn people. Again why tf should we allow them to sit with us? Their would be a lot more rich black people if we had our own establishments like we did back then
@David Edosomwan i would have rather been eradicated than integrated in this cesspool of shit we call a “society” today. integration castrated the black livelihood. if you don’t fight for what you want, you’ll settle for what you get. and that’s what we did, settle.

Pretty Boy Flizzy did too
Man, I wish they'd make a Boondocks movie or something just so I can see this choreography again. Great show with excellent social commentary and comedy, but the action pieces were the gravy on top.
Imagine the fights in this show with a movie budget

I'm with Grandad. Non-violence can only get you so far before you need to open a can of whoop ass on the offenders.
The pacifist guy is doing aikido lol
Thads what Aikido is all about you aren't supposed to cause the person harm
Not cause the person harm? Fuck that bullshit
Mario U also helps that he is Superman
Yeah but it seems more elequoent it's really hard not to injury someone and take them out also the arm lock sturdy uses is effective but only if the opponent is not hopped up on adrenaline so they could still break an arm if they resist
Now I see where Huey gets it from. One thing I noticed about the two is they use their speed and surroundings to their advantage when fighting people, Robert was a master at using the belt, if only he kept training, he’d be unstoppable against the Hateocracy
Best episode in the season. Sturdy was my favourite character. Love his fighting style.
Granddad had them hands
Sturdy Harris the Civil Rights Luke Cage lol
You can already tell it's Robert when he killing it with the belt
cant believe you cut out the last fight with the bald guy, sturdy putting him to rest was the funniest part.
I'm not supposed to reveal too much of the video. Otherwise I'd get a copyright strike and taken down.
I'll say this much, Robert really knew how to kick ass with a belt.
Yeah why do you think riley hated it
I just can't seem to find the name of the kung fu Sturdy Harris uses. The way he gently cradles the head so it doesn't hit the ground.
+MadManAz Its beautiful. Best fighting style in the series.
Not sure, but I think they got their inspiration from one of the Ip Man movies
Seems to be Aikido possibly
lol its tai chi, how did u not know or hear of this style :D, other is similar to it qigong but its more for healing practices, btw ip man uses wing chun and wing chun is for taking out opponents asap and usually it will damage opponent really badly or even kill
The practice is called akido
You know...for all we know...robert could be a belmont. His mastery of the whip, well in this modern times, belt, was in expert level, nonetheless...

Young Robert is like a mixture of Huey and Riley. He was in the Air Force and huge in the civil rights movement, a militant revolutionary like Huey. Then he’s talkin shit and using weapons when they’re supposed to be non-violent, that’s like Riley 😂

I loved season 4. The hate is ridiculous
Cuz this episode was actually written by McGruder
@@Gabriel-G. you have no proof of this
@@joshuawillis602 The Season 4 DVD and other sources reveal that some of the work that has gone uncredited was actually written by McGruder (he's credited in rough scripts). Sony executives have also discussed how he was, in fact, involved in the writing process of Season 4 before being fired. He actually got fired VERY late into production, so..
That being said, I don't have any proof that it's this particular episode that has had the most involvement from McGruder's end as of now.

I'd be the first to start fighting anyways because I want to survive lol oh who am I kidding!? XD I'd run for the hills
Most people would start fighting or running. Even Malcolm X and other civil rights activists thought it made no sense to let themselves get abused by cruel men and advocated for more of a self defense approach. Though that’s probably why it was considered miraculous and brave when non violent protesters like Martin Luther King Jr or Rosa Parks decided to make a stand non violently.
If you didn’t fight you could end up dead or jail. If you did fight your probably would end up dead or in jail.
You also have to remember that half of the time the motherfucker running up to you with a metal bat was a cop

Given how Robert is always straight CAP about every story he tells, it's hard to believe he could fight this well. Then again, Huey had to get it from somewhere
I lost it when he bent that crowbar 🤣
If Robert knew martial arts back then why did he have to train to fight Stinkmeaner when he was older?
That's what I'm saying.
Cause Robert was old and stinkmesner trained in hell. Plus, he inhabited a young body so he had the edge in physicality while Robert, while as fast as he is, is old and has a gut.
@@vaquero2322 nah that’s after the first time they fought in the first stinkmeaner episode stinkmeaner kicked his ass but it was by luck then grandad trained into akuma and killed him the second time that’s why stinkmeaner went to hell trained with satan then came back by posessing Tom lmao typing it out makes the whole situation even more hilarious
@@nuera9086
I think it was cause Robert was just going for a straight punch since it looks like he waits for his opponent to strike first most of the time. As his offensive capabilities are lacking.
Robert also underestimated stinkmeaner due to him being blind so that gave Robert a false sense of security.
Robert’s training definitely helped him get better at fighting but it probably loosened him up too. Since most older folks who practice some form of martial arts do it on a semi-regular basis and it seems Robert had slacked off.
But yeah, the whole situation was funny as hell.

Nonviolence is the personal practice of not causing harm to others under any condition.
It may come from the belief that hurting people, animals and/or the environment is unnecessary to achieve an outcome - and it may refer to a general philosophy of abstention from violence.
It may be based on moral, religious or spiritual principles, or the reasons for it may be strategic or pragmatic.
Failure to distinguish between the two types of nonviolent approaches can lead to distortion in the concept's meaning and effectiveness, which can subsequently result in confusion among the audience.
Although both principled and pragmatic nonviolent approaches preach for nonviolence, they may have distinct motives, goals, philosophies, and techniques.
However, rather than debating the best practice between the two approaches, both can indicate alternative paths for those who do not want to use violence.
Who the hell was that? Superman? Terminator? Hancock???
