hey man i know i'm a few days late on commenting on this, but i just want to say how much respect i have for you and this channel. it's been a wild ride watching through the DIY FSR pad series' backlog over the course of 2021, and you being so happy about the finished product makes this such a satisfying finale. i know you expressed in the past that you don't really find it fun to make videos, and i understand that. it can be a tedious process for sure. for what it's worth, i feel that you've done nothing but improve. your presentation skills have noticably gotten a lot better since this series began (not to say that it was bad before!). in this video you seem so natural, like you're just talking to someone in the room with you, and that's not a skill that comes naturally to most people. this series was great. it was very personal, informational, entertaining, and i got to learn a lot about your opinions on dance games as a whole, and i'd love to see more stuff in this same vein. regardless of what i want to see, keep doing your thing man, i'll stick around for whatever you upload.
Nicely done dude! You stumbled upon what I started last year designing my DIY pad by cloning the frames, dimensions, and such. Hopefully others can use your stuff if they can find steel and do it your way! :D
6:42 read some shit about how direct-to-metal coatings have been getting a lot better recently. very very good to know. I’ve always thought any ol oil enamel would be good enough but that premium finish is something else
Thanks for the series! I just finished refurbishing a DDR pad and sold it because I believe I can do a better one just like you did :) I'm gonna use your videos as reference for sure.
I made mine modeled off some of the existing parts using 3d printing and cnc. Works a lot better than the soft pads and wasnt that bad of a price (even though lumber costs are stupid atm) Even made my own fsr's though not sure of the reliability
would it be possible to have these FSR pads to support a wide range of consoles too? because i don't want them to collet dust and i refuse to use emulators especially when tha DDR Ultramix series DLCs are only accessible through a Softmod XBOX and won't work with not even Original XBOX Emulation yes i know PDP pads are not tha best in tha world but i'd like to have pads to support all my existing consoles besides PDP pads also Original XBOX, XBOX 360 and even Dreamcast DDR pads are very hard to get especially tha Dreamcast pads
$6 a piece for the brackets? That sounds crazy cheap to me, def worth the cost. I work in metal fabrication and making an arcade accurate pad has been a dream since I was a kid and between all of my skills now, I started looking into this as a viable project.
The switch frames? I didn't have them manufactured for that price. I would love it if I did! They were used arcade parts I bought second hand. I think that was a really good deal. This part is worth about 40-50$ to me. So if someone could actually make a new one for that price I would buy them all day without hesitation.
@Dom ITG Haha, yeah thats what I figured. I can definitely make them for my own build, but it will be time consuming. Are the notches on the frames there to run wires through or do they serve another purpose?
I already had the bar. I've had these extra bars for a few years, so it didn't cost me anything extra to slap them on. I do like the way it looks with the bar and of course, if I ever want to use the bar in the future, I have that option. Plus, it's nice to have something to hang my towel on!
If you find a dual focus flyback for the dedicab monitor, let me know. Im in the market and cant find them anywhere online. Should have known these are rare parts and bought 2 or 3 when I got my initial replacement :/
Hello Dom, If I could trouble for just a quick opinion. I'm trying to build my own dance platform on a budget made mostly from wood boards and studs, with the intent of casually playing like its the "good ol' days" with no regard to advanced technique and generally having a good time. Is using FSRs still a viable option for that purpose? I have arcade sensors in a big bulky one I made and want to dismantle it in favor of one with a lower profile that's easier to move around, as that one is too heavy for me to reliably move on my own.
Yeah FSRs will be fine for any skill level. But most people prefer a bulky setup. For your use case, you might want to consider an LTEK too. They are pretty slim and work well.
I love your videos! Do you by any chance have a good source for getting your hands on an arcade single pad? I am having health issues and need a good way to lose weight and have fun. Any advice would be amazing!
My advice for getting an arcade pad would be to join the official buy sell trade group on facebook, start scanning craigslist with search tempest, or call any local arcades with old/aging setups that might want to sell their machines. It takes a while to find a deal that isnt overpriced but it can be done.

Wow, what a nice comment. Thanks man, that means a lot.

i would trade my smx pad for this sexy pad
Absolutely loved this series Dom! Can't wait to see your next project :)
I’m happy to see that the flatness on that steel plate was sufficient! Awesome project. Thanks for the video series

Bet you'll buy Lara's pad when they launch them, you're growing up your Pad Empire. Good work and thank you for sharing I enjoyed so much.
Oh yeah i really want an impulse pad too!
Let's fucking go, this is a part in of DDR history.
0:57 one of the greatest minds to ever grace 4-panel

I'd love to see a video about repairing your other monitor chassis.

I love the clips of you playing. Reminds me of someone who really has to pee and is waiting for the bathroom 😂 (not meant as an insult 😅)
Amazing job my dude

so you add the bar just for aesthetics?

just had this stupid idea does anyone make mechanical pad before?
Don't give up on the build
Your meme game is choice, fren.
I've seen your face like a dozen times and every time I still feel some shock and confusion that it's not the same dude you use in all your thumbnails
not that he probably cares but did you show the metal fab guy the end product , its pretty cool
Wait how much did this cost? Did I miss it?
Wait I realized its literally the last 5 seconds
I'm really hoping I can find those brackets, because I have basically an unlimited supply of scrap steel, Lexan, and paint completely free.
Hi Dom, do you have spare switch frames? If so, how much you would be selling those?
If you find a dual focus flyback for the dedicab monitor, let me know. Im in the market and cant find them anywhere online. Should have known these are rare parts and bought 2 or 3 when I got my initial replacement :/
Yeah man. Apparently they get made in batches, my friend said he is confident they will come back.
All so he could do those little wiggle steps LMAO
jk :)
