I'd like to buy two of these for my home game room. Would you recommend getting this one, or is there a better one you would prefer. Personally i dont play DDR. This is for my wife and kids.
I'm not looking for perfect attack, I just wanna jump on, get back in shape, play with my kids and knock out the harder songs that I use to 20 years ago (I turn 42 this year). 3rd mix was my favorite. You recommend this?
Very cool video. Gives me hope that I could replace my jcab pads if I need to sell my cab until I have more space. The first time I saw a Stepmaniax dedicab in a public arcade, there was a mid to larger guy playing on it. The stages were visibly flexing wherever he stepped. All the panels were loose and the arcade owner let me open them up to see if I could tighten anything. All of the welds were broken that hold the threads that let you secure the panels. He said it was less than a year old. I get that things get hammered in public arcades. But it was obvious to me that stepmaniax pads are not as well built as Japanese or Korean pads. I wouldn’t be surprised if these Chinese pads can be modded to play better and last longer than stepmaniax
With modding anything is possible. My experience is mostly with gen5 deluxe pads and the overall tech seems “nicer”. I’m sure this is a great base for any project.
Thanks for this review, very detailed! Do you have any lead on what is causing that squeaking noise in your playthrough at the end? Do you think that's a panel thing / could be resolved with replacement arcade panels, or is it something do do with the frame
How's it holding up? I was getting some pretty decent scores on my L-Tek with some copper tape modding, like 950K + on S14-15 on some DDR officials. This seems like it could hold up to long-term play while being cheaper than an SMX

I have a ColumbiaStep DDR pad but the sensor are hand made and some design flaws but its works really well! its made if wood instead of metal. Awesome video! Im considering getting this pad or keep mine! I started playing DDR Max 2 on ps2. got into ddr in 2013 on a supernova cab to now, DDR World! Ive been getting AAA on some songs but not so much anything higher than a 10. more so a casual player!
Can you talk more about the ColumbiaStep? Also was considering this - I can possibly get it from local without shipping fees for a bit over 1000. Not sure if it’s worth just to pay a bit more for B2L
@@Littleclam yea sure. its made out of wood. it has not the arcade kind of legs but a leg holder that you can just screw in. i found some on amazon. it works really well honestly. i dont really have any complaints besides it having a press instead of just stepping and it dont sink. other wise its pretty good. ive passed a 16 n 17 in ddr terms. been playing in the groove and passed a 10 on it. The sensor are questionable but they do work as intended. the disconnect easily and easy to clean. My led lights died but i found the lights to replace them. idc for the lights but most of what they used i found on amazon. the arrow panel they do use the bracketless kind. so its pretty much arcade product. Im currently trying to mod my pad to have actual sensors and maybe replace the arrows with the arcade arrows with the cut corner and have brackets on them.
Have you done any more modding to this since you got it? Are you any higher on it now than you were when you made this video, or do you still feel about the same?
stopped at 6:24 mark just to say, this would be on the same as smx for perfect attack and stamina/itg if modded correctly. i own 2 smx pads i removed the FSR sensors in my smx pads and replaced them with the ez2 sensors that are in these. Now they are far more consistent than before
As someone who only played 4 panel casually, what rly sets this apart from arcade pads? Ypu mentioned its ability for PA accuracy. Is it less responsivene, more prone to misfire, etc.?
Arcade pads are heavier and better built in every way. So far it’s been really great for everything I’ve thrown at it. I like SMX for a variety of reasons over this pad, mostly just a tougher build quality. As my video says, for casual play this thing is aces
yeah the Konami sensor option basically uses official DDR sensors, which are better (although imo the biggest upside is that then they'll use the original connectors, so you can buy official replacement sensors and have them work). However, if you're remotely serious about dance games, save the extra $200 and just put a FSR kit in your pad (either from mysticsteps or rhythmtechnologies, or just put one together yourself). They're much better than any arcade sensor will ever be, especially because you can configure the sensitivity in software.
Respect for being a pioneer so that others can learn from this!

Arcade pads do this too, just to a lesser extent.

My plan was to rip and replace the internals with stuff from pump pads if this didn’t work out, but it’s going fine so far!

On there website that day they have "Konami sensors" do you know what the difference is? Is it just a better more sensitive sensor?
yeah the Konami sensor option basically uses official DDR sensors, which are better (although imo the biggest upside is that then they'll use the original connectors, so you can buy official replacement sensors and have them work).
However, if you're remotely serious about dance games, save the extra $200 and just put a FSR kit in your pad (either from mysticsteps or rhythmtechnologies, or just put one together yourself).
