- On 8 January, far-right Jair Bolsonaro supporters stormed three government buildings in an attempt to overthrow democratically-elected Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

Protesters broke into congress, the presidential palace and the supreme court, smashing windows and vandalising all three properties. Bolsonaro lost to Lula in a tightly-fought election in October but his supporters have refused to accept the result. The security forces are under criticism as rioters faced little resistance once they breached police lines and stormed onto the congressional lawn. After approximately four hours of chaos, the military retook all three buildings and made hundreds of arrests.

Everyone angrily storming the government, and then there is that one dude using the podium as a slide
Lula is the leader of a criminal organization. He is NOT the cute combination of Santa Claus and Mandela the media is trying to sell to you!!!
funfact: An extradition treaty between the United States and Brazil was signed on January 13, 1961 and implemented on February 11, 1965. The treaty allows both countries to request the return of individuals if the offense(s) committed are considered crimes by both countries.
Additional funfact: Bolsonaro is in the US
They should send over Tropical Putin. Justice has unfinished business with him.
He is currently not being charged with any crimes, so he cannot be extradited
That's some passive-aggressive wishful thinking if I haven't seen any.

Self satisfaction
These people are known for such stupidity, they wanted to be a hero and only made their situation worse, it harms those who have no involvement with such ignorance
i guess they didnt at the George flyod protests either, or is that different?
they are fanatical Bolsonaristas and believe in flat earth.
Or maybe they wanted to be seen because they've been protesting peacefully for 2 months and a half? Oh right, nobody knows about that... how convenient... Plus, even if they have to pay for it, so does the other half that voted Lula, still worth it.
Brazilian people want the world to know that they cannot accept Lula, the biggest thief in Brazilian history.
He needs to at least apologise for any wrongdoings under his government by whomever and assure the population this will not happen again. Also, no public money should be diverted to dictationship nations but to be used in schools, hospitals, etc, in Brazil.
Absolutely shameful. What a bunch of goons.
It didn't go as we wanted, it should have been a peaceful demonstration like all the other manifestations of the Brazilian right, we shouldn't have lowered ourselves to that level but the people are desperate, you don't understand, these people are desperate for the future of their country that was handed over to an extreme left government that will persecute any and all opposition, a government that will violate civil and human rights and cling to power and become an authentic dictatorship extremely corrupt like other leftist dictatorships in Latin America, such as Nicolas Maduro in Venezuela and by Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua, both allies of Lula
Invited in by security, no doubt.

It's crazy that the Congress, Presidential Palace, Supreme Court were all located at the same place. Making it way easy for a coup to happen.
See US backed coup of 1964. (Operation Brother Sam)
@@kevinjenner9502 Why called brother Sam
@@ebrimajallow9631Operation Brother Sam by the US Navy and Air Force was aimed at supporting the military coup in Brazil in 1964 as the US government and a large part of the Brazilian population and military feared that Brazil would ally with the Soviet Union, and now, 58 years later, the USA, in a hypocritical and ironic way, supported the Brazilian left, the same one that wanted Brazil to ally itself with the Soviet Union

I understand the irony
You're supposed to be a conscious individual. You're supposed to find out yourself what "democracy" is.

WTH is going on down there?
A bloke that once was the president got re-elected, during and after his government the federal police discovered a ton of corruption made during and after his mandate.
He got arrested, and after that his muppet Dilma got impeached.
In 2018 due to a national level anger people chose not to vote to the labor party, his party. Then a Conservative bloke stood out in the crowd of politicians (Bolsonaro) he gained strength, and if any sort of manipulation happened during the elections of 2018 this country would be under utter chaos. To sum up, Bolsonaro made people angry, but instead of the people electing someone else they voted for Lula or the votes were manipulate, either way a mass protests across the country broke out because of the elections results and after the government (supreme court) started silencing people on social media and blocking their bank accounts.
And after waiting for around 70 days the decided to lash out again the government building.
@@guirricoful ah, okay, got it. Thanks 👍
Far-right supporters of ex-president Jair Bolsonaro invaded Congress, the Supreme Court and Planalto Palace (the main buildings of our Legislative, Judiciary and Executive Powers in a federal level), asking for a military coup under claims of a fraudulent election - of which doesn't exist any evidence -, much like Jan. 6 in the U.S two years ago
The buildings were empty of people, since neither Congress nor the Supreme Court were in session and the president was in another state resolving matters regarding to destruction caused by heavy summer rains
So the invaders proceded to loot and destroy the interiors of the three buildings, ruining beautiful pieces more than 100 years old (both national and international, which were sent as gifts)
The stormers were eventually routed arrested when the military and police arrived, who contained the remaining masses through use of non-lethal force

@@merickclare there is currently open suspicion (all but confirmed) that the person who was responsible for the security of the Federal District - an ex-minister of Jair Bolsonaro - was in on it, purposefully ignoring the warning signs (bolsonaristas were pretty open about their plans, and had been mobilizing near military bases for 70 days) and lowering security so the attackers could have easy access to the buildings
