Listen and watch the live version of Triumph Fight The Good Fight. Great Canadian Band. His relative had cancer and it was for her he gave the live performance. Enjoy the Ride
Triumph did not have a song with a negative vibe to it. Every song was positive by design. Gil Moore and Rik Emmett the two principle writers felt there was enought negative in the world and their music should be an escape from that, and to be something that lifts a person up. Magic Power is a song about just that. "She climbs into bed, She pull the covers overhead And she turns her little radio on She's has a rotten day So she hopes the DJ's gonna play her favorite song It makes her feel much better, Brings her closer to her dreams A little magic power makes it better that it seems"
Until you have done the US Festival version of this, you will truly never understand the gloriousness of Triumph in its finest moment. 11 Minutes of Unadulterated Superior Musical Talent, who that day blew away, Ozzy, Scorpions, Judas Priest, Van Halen etc. who were all at their peaks.
I love the "Halifax Live" version of Lay it on the Line above just about anything else from Triumph but maybe that's just because it puts a bit of a new spin on something very familiar.
Triumph is one of the most positive bands ever. Check out Follow Your Heart, Lay It On The Line, Magic Power, Rock Out Roll On, Somebodies Out There, Hold On.....these guys are the most underrated band ever and they have tons of awesome tunes!
Another great Canadian band from my home town, Toronto. Rik Emmet is the lead singer. Lay It On The Line is another of theirs that you would really enjoy, I think. Sending these vibes and good wishes out to Ukraine.
Really nice reaction guys! "The Good Fight" is life. This song is so inspirational - lyrically and musically. The drums have so much drive. "Lay it On the Line" is probably their most famous song. Thank you so much!
This song has the potential to (if you let it) bring you to your feet and find your inner strength, motivate you, fill you with inspiration and determination to carry on and keep pushing on ever forward. I was 20, married and had 1 child, when this song came out and it was songs like this one that helped me through a really rough patch. I honestly don't know what I would've done without music in my life, at times, it's all I had. Thanks for this awesome reaction, it truly is a great song!
I've never heard of this band, but really like this song, great vibe and great melody, nothing like a bit of hard rock! I'm surprised I haven't heard of them, I see from Google that they're a Canadian hard rock band formed in 1975 and this song is from the early 80s. I think I will check them out on RUclips. It's a great title and yes, you're right, guys, it is motivational and does make you feel good, which is just what we need just now. Thanks so much for your reaction, enjoyed it as I always do. Take care and keep safe.
They are a great band, very positive and uplifting lyrics in a lot of their songs. They also had a song in the 80's called 'Somebody's Out There', which was played a lot on the radio in the US. Also 'Lay It On The Line' is probably the most popular of theirs.
@@allisterfiend_2112 Thanks for that, I'm from the UK, and as I said, I'm surprised I've not heard of them so I will certainly check out the songs you mentioned. Love discovering new bands, well, new to me!
Triumph was actually quite popular in the 80s. Lots of their songs, including this one, were played a lot on rock radio. They always drew comparison to Rush. Triumphs music is more straight ahead rock, as opposed to Rush, but Rik Emmett, singer and very underrated guitarist sounded a bit like Geddy Lee. Moreover, Triumph and Rush were both trios and both from the Toronto area of Canada. Always seemed like Triumph were living a bit in Rush’s shadow. But Triumph rocks.
If you really listen to Rik and Geddy you'll find that they don't really sound alike, I've never known any vocalist that divides opinion like Geddy Lee, Rik is far superior in my opinion.
@@garytate3075 I agree. I’m more of a Rush fan (early Rush) but Rik has a better voice IMO. But bc of the high register of both singers, the unfair comparisons between Rush and Triumph were inevitable- both being Toronto based trios.
I can't say enough the impact Triumph had on my life in a positive direction. Absolutely fantastic band both on record and THE best band I've seen live. Rik Emmit is a once in a generation talent both vocally and as a guitar player. Gil Moore is also a fantastic vocalist and great drummer, and ML holds down the bass and keys. You could pick any song of the first five albums and play it and be like YES!
Also from Canada like Rush,3 guys. Love the vocal: as a tenor in soprano territory- Rik Emmitt is so comfortable singing up there while playing live… that’s when I knew how good they were- live on stage. ❤️🎼❤️🔥🔥🔥🤘😎
They gave one helluva LIVE performance. The 80’s concert light show/pyrotechnics along with the outstanding music, gave the most PERFECT rock concert experience one could ever imagine! 💯🎶🎶🤘😣🤘❤️Great memories!✨✨✨
The amazing thing about this band it's a 3 piece but the singer is the guitarist and he does both to extreme , each band member is greatest at their instrument and backing vocals
Hold On (with the instrumental intro), Magic Power, Lay it on the Line are some of their best tunes. I love the hard rockin song Just Another Day of Rock n Roll off their debut album.
Patrik hit the nail on the head- Triumph gives off the RUSH vibe bigtime. Between the vocals and the song structure and sound quality. Not to mention they’re both Canadian bands and there’s just something deliciously special about Canadian bands.. they truly have a knack for great music. I’ve been a huge RUSH fan for 40+yrs and Ive also been a Triumph fan for the bulk of those years. They are just GOOOOOOOD!!!!!😄👏🏻 I’m SO pleased you gave them a try. I was really surprised when I saw you had reacted to them. I don’t know what made you choose them but I am SOOO glad (for you, and others) that you did. I hope you check out some other songs if not on the channel, in your personal time. I’d recommend: “Lay It On The Line” “A World Of Fantasy” Rock on!👋😘 Julie in Texas
I discovered Led Zeppelin in July of 1979 and since then, I’ve had a TON of SECOND favorite bands; Purple, Doors, Eagles, Stones, Beatles, The Who, U2, Rush, Petty, Scorpions, UFO, Floyd, Crue, Sabbath just to name a few. Most of which I’ve seen in concert and so, in 1981, I bought this album on vinyl - it is a GREAT album! Preceding this album was “The Game” and following it was “Never Surrender”. Three excellent albums. In May of 1983, Steve Wozniak, the inventor and co-founder of Apple Computers had a 4 day festival in San Bernardino near Los Angeles called “The US Festival”. The lineup was; Quiet Riot, Motley Crue, Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest, Triumph, Scorpions and Van Halen. Going to the Heavy Metal night, Triumph WAS my second favorite band because of the passion in their music and Rik Emmet’s guitar playing and voice. They were a Canadien trio who was always being compared to Rush who used be compared to Led Zeppelin. I strongly suggest you preview, Triumph’s “Ordinary Man”, “Magic Power”, “Lay it on the Line”, “Hold On” and “Never Surrender”. The Scorpions took the show and then became my new second favorite band…ruclips.net/video/q0Ei-tZTDr0/видео.html
As a teenager in the 70s and 80s this is one of the most underappreciated bands of our generation. People gave them crap because they thought they were rush lite. Great uplifting lyrics, solid musicianship from all members, Rick emmets, guitar, playing and vocals should put him on the podium of rock performers. They might not have the deepest epic catalog, but their best songs are some of the best songs ever composed.
This song, and others by a triumph and Rik Emmett when he went solo, got me thru so much. Helped me stay positive and afloat during many tough/ heavy times. So glad you found the same inspiration
Liked and and subbed. This song has made so many people make it through the next day. Your reactions are heart warming. If you follow these words there's no way you could fail in life
Dire Straits a song for you Romeo and Juliet life. Mark is left-handed and yet he plays a right-handed guitar what a genius. I have seen them live and it was a pure adventure. Your reactions to them are the best as I can see you totally feel the music just like I do. Thank you
A very, very dear friend off mine died in a motorcycle crash. She was 23 and had two little girls at the time. That very night before her and her husband took that fateful ride we were listening to this song and she told me to pay attention to the lyrics because I was having issues with my husband at the time (we are divorced now and he was emotionally and verbally abusive). Now all I can do is cry when I hear this song.
Since the both of you enjoyed this song, I'd suggest "Hold On" or "Magic Power" next. It is wholesomely gratifying to see the younger generation enjoy the music from Triumph, the soundtrack to my youth.
"This is exactly what a song should be", yes. In case it's not mentioned, This song written by singer Rik Emmett, was a reflection on the lessons taught to him by his Aunt's life as she fought and eventually succumbed to cancer.
