The theory was great and easy to understand as always but moving to the important part..."sigh" we have found it, the strongest weapon one and only DULL BLADE.
Remember the namecard obtainable after completing all 'Elemental specialist' achievements? it goes like this: "Light can refract into countless colors, but people stop at seven because they're lazy to count. Perhaps the elements are like that, too." With Marchosius (aka Guoba) lore we also got a 'new' elemental symbol: the fusion of Geo and Pyro (Geo as a base and the flame of Pyro), this new symbol represents Marchosius origin 'Marchosius, God of the Stove, born from a spark when stone struck stone'. If we relate light to 'Celestia' (we are constantly told that Gods descends upon the mortal realm), then the 7 elements are just oversimplifications of countless building blocks, and oversimplifications always tend to left something important behind.
What you said made me think of something. If there was really only seven elements AKA seven Archon and seven Gnosis, there shouldn't be other elements right? However, we know at least three other parties that showed powers that does not seemed related to those of the seven elements : 1- The sustainer of heavenly principles (We still don't know what power she was using) 2- The God of Time (In mondstat region theyre are ruins that relate his existence and Venti also knows him) 3- The Abyss Order / Dainsleif (Could the Abyss be an element in itself? Also I put Dainsleif with the Abyss Order since they came from the same contry but their power could be different)
I found out an interesting detail: In the fight with the Sustainer, Aether actually lost his weapon, so the light we see him use against her can take physical form.
@@slayemall6473 no they lost it if they just put it away they would not be using dull blade in cutscenes right now ig the sword will be used back later after snezhnaya in place of dull blade
@@slayemall6473 If you pay close attention to the cutscene at the start of the game, and focus on the one you chose (I'll use Aether as an example), Aether's sword got absorbed into the cubes. Aether manages to evade the cubes by abandoning his weapon, but Lumine, who never let go of her beloved sword, got absorbed by the cubes.
Wow, I thought I was the only one that noticed this. The game is almost to an obsessive point always points out how the Traveler doesn't have a Vision, even though he doesn't need one.
Because that world have vision as their main thing. If it was a world where magic as the main thing, then they will probably do the same thing. And isn't it the same irl? Technologies are our obsessive points for most of people
@@rizalsalasi4273 But the Traveler is essentially able to manipulate "magic" without a Vision, yet acts like he isn't special cause he doesn't have one.
I've found it especially strange when you realize that manipulating elements without a vision is actually fairly common despite it being treated as something non-existent. The archons, gods/adepti, various monsters, delusion holders, and slimes moreso than anything else are all able to manipulate the elements without a vision. Signora being shown able to manipulate pyro without a vision despite having roots as a human I think as a very intentional thing set up in the latest archon quest
Also it makes sense on why there are only 7 elements but 8 pieces for two sides. The king pieces may be related to the gnosis of those who wield those powers, the white king maybe resides in celestia right now but the MC may be able to ascend and steal the throne, while the sibling is the black king. The only little thing that I don't like and would have been really cool imo, would have been if somehow aether was the black king and lumine the white king. Since lumine moved first in teyvat and aether moved after her
@@Ironpecker tho for Lumine to be in the white makes total sense. As you said she was the first to move and she has a white outfit while aether has a black one. LOL, that's what I both love and hate about genshin. There is too room to theorize and debate rn.
@@orapoix6877 maybe Genshin Impact was inspired by Yin-Yang ☯️ You know like.....good in evil and evil in good Also maybe Ather is the black king because in the end of game their might be a plot twist where we find out what we consider doing right was wrong all along from the start....I think it would be really cool to find out we were the bad guys all along and we didn't even know about it
The game even says that before archons, there used to be many gods of many different elemenents. It all changed when Celeastia created gnosis. Also, Zhongli giving up his gnosis equals him not being allowed to rule over the land/nation of Liyue, even though before the Archon War a gnosis wasn't required. It all heavily implies that the current 7 Archon setup is very much by design of Celeastia.
@@denebvegaaltair1146 I'd say the time god lore, a god barely talked about, and nearly forgotten, but stated to have existed at one point. Time doesn't fit into any other element but it's own.
maybe instead of light and dark we can look at as corruption and purity, corruption resembling the negative and dark energy and purity resembling the light and positive energy, we’ve seen the traveler purify dvalins tears that were corrupted by the abyss, perhaps when the other traveller was taken by the heavenly principals it corrupted them granting them the ability to manipulate the dark energy
@@drkufdrahrepus2868 Not always, a common trope in fantasy is how light and dark are just tools and can be used for good or evil in either hands, and its the misconception that light and dark are inherently good or evil that misleads the protagonist for fighting for light, only to discover they were fighting for evil all along.
The story line keeps getting darker and darker and I’m starting to get worried(the charecter death in story and blood in shouguns story quest feels like it’s only the start)
Well, there’s a lot of deaths in Genshin Impact, such as Crepus, Teppei, Signora and possibly Lumine. We don’t know for sure. But I’ll cry if Abyss Lumine dies
@@pearliichuu I cried like a rain when Himeko died. But she's back in the sequel of Honkai. She'll be the first one I'll get when Honkai StarRail is released.
i was a bit disappointed by the rushed archon quest but these videos really help me rethink and appreciate it more, thank you for your great work as usual! looking forward for more as usual
Do the world quests already. I'm a little tired of this when the world quests expand a lot more on the archon quest and we are still getting more of such content up until sumeru
@@vctmmhendra bro there was never gonna be a 1.7, 1.8 or 1.9 they already planned inazuma to release after 2.0. the only reason its "2.0" is because its a new region, so when sumeru comes (probably after 2.7 or 2.8 or something ), itll be 3.0
I'm pretty sure the blue and gold auras are a form of pure elemental energy, like the type of energy found in leylines. The color likely represents concentration with blue being the normal color and gold as the purest. The pure energy likely gets converted into one of the seven elements when being used by something like a Vision or an Adeptal seal, similar to how electricity gets converted into mechanical energy and heat when placed into a machine motor. Pure elemental energy and the supposed positive "Light" energy is probably the same thing. Also the Dark energy has a name, it's called Abyssal energy and we see it everywhere Abyss order-related from the Heralds to Dainsleaf. And it's been explicitly mentioned as a contrast to Celestia's power which is elemental energy.
I remember one of the cards in the recent theater mechanicus had an effect that mentioned "celestial thunder" which was golden or perhaps pure thunder. So it's likely that the canon names for light and dark are just celestial and abyssal, respectively
The travellers are stuck in an endless time loop at the moment and thier loops only started getting easier when they discovered the strongest element of all, plastic, specifically mom's 💳
I know you're memeing but when I heard the Abyss Sibling say "we've always had enough time" in the we will be reunited story quest, I went on a search for Pepe Silvia and developed a theory that they need to be together because only then they can be somewhere at the same time. Mihoyo says both travelers are canon. Through the Paimon menu, we can only skip time. My theory is that the Abyss Sibling can only rewind time. So they already lived through their journey, and, upon discovering the Truth of this world, they decided to go back in time to avenge Khaenri'ah, leaving their sibling behind until they could figure out how to free them from the Unknown God's prison. Unfortunately, that means they can't aid or join us (yet, I assume), but they're confident that we'll reach the same conclusion they did because they've literally been on our shoes before rewinding.
"The whaling has already begun. It is just a continuation of past purchases. The devs goad us on with the promise of their 5-star characters. Rewards for the worthy. The doorway to Gacha. Yet buried in the depths of this games lies smoldering remains, a warning to those that dare rolling. "That character on the banner is not reserved for you." But F2P arrogation never stops. None will escape the whaling . See for yourself."
I just also wanna point out that it’s possible the attack the traveler did to the unknown god ruined the sword they were using which would explain why they still use the dull blade in cutscenes; it’s what was left of the weapon after that explosion. We know that the traveler didn’t want to change clothing during Ayakas story quest because it has sentimental value for them, so that’s probably why they kept on using the dull blade; it’s a reminder of their former power. Just my thoughts. Idk.
I am sorry to be that guy but in the scene after you chose and named your traveler you can see he lets his sword losse and that it gets absorbed by the sustainer making that big attack before the traveler gets absorbed more like the anemo elemental burst (don’t know how else to make a clear picture how the attack looked)
The missing elements that support all other elements, are time and space. Together, they give all elements the power to exist. Once separated, elements would cease to exist, and so is life. The siblings are Gods of Time and Space. That's the reason why the unknown God had to separate them from each other: to weaken the power they share when together. And that's the reason why they can resonate with all the elements. Lumine, created a portal in the quest, which means she has control of space. Same goes for Aether who can freely travel through teleport waypoints. And as we know so far, the traveler is the only one using those waypoints, as we are the one who's unlocking it across the map. Since Lumine completed her journey first, she might have created those space waypoints knowing that her brother's power after he wakes up would not be as strong, and would find it useful. It is possible that Aether is the forgotten God of Time in the secret island, since he was trapped for another 500 years after Lumine woke up. That is enough time for people to forget. This is my theory. It also makes sense that they can travel from one world to another, another proof that they have control over time and space. Check out Greek Mythology, they have 9 elements there, 7 of which what we have in the game. The other 2 being time and space.
That might make sense "In Greek mythology, Aether, or Aither (/ˈiːθər/; Ancient Greek: Αἰθήρ, romanized: Aithḗr, pronounced [ai̯tʰɛ̌ːr]) is one of the primordial deities. Aether is the personification of the "upper sky".[1] He embodies the pure upper air that the gods breathe, as opposed to the normal air (Ancient Greek: ἀήρ, Latin: aer) breathed by mortals.[citation needed] Like Tartarus and Erebus, Aether may have had shrines in ancient Greece, but he had no temples and is unlikely to have had a cult." Aether's name in JP is 空 (Sora) which means sky. So in a way it makes sense. Though the god of time greek is chronos
@@orionchevalier7398 in science Aether is the element that supports and amplifies all elements, hence supporting my previous statement. That, being the reason why he can resonate with all of them.
With a bit of emphasis on alchemy, I’m surprised you didn’t come to the conclusion that “Aether” was the fifth element constructing the human body. Lumine being stars. The purest of elements vs. the incomprehensible alchemical prosy of creating a star. Basically “simplicity vs. incoherence”
Because she has lost her honkai power, her main goal in this universe is to just revive her Honkai stability and return to Honkai. The traveller's sword resembles the blade Durandal from Honkai which is a powerful honkai source.
The main point everyone seems to be missing is that Sustainer actually made the twins STAY. They were leaving anyways but she appeared for no specific reason, seperated them and basically forced them to be locked up in Teyvat. It has always felt weird tbh but no one is talking about it
Makes me think that Pierro, the First of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers, quite possibly uses the dark element as his main ability instead of one of the seven natural elements of Teyvat. He more than likely still uses a Delusion of one, but he seems like a very obvious user of the Shadow element to me. He has a relatively noble cause, but one born of negative, dark ambition of vengeance and anger, the desire to bring ruin to those who destroyed his nation and people. That's what I'm thinking anyway.
Speaking of this dark and light theory ; brings to notice; that the corruption on dvalin was "purified" by just coming in contact with the traveller Maybe these powers are inherently counteractive just like qua and Img in honkai Maybe our traveller will have to fight this dark energy head on to truly awaken his light energy Tho it'll be years before that happens
This might be something un-essential but i think the traveler we chose still has their original power My only clue is that only mona and aether can summons stars from their palms in their idle animation
these theories are so wonderful but i must admit I’m so afraid of mihoyo wasting the potential of their stories and going for something extremely basic and predictable. I was wondering how mihoyo would do Inazuma’s quest since the initial potential of it was amazing- epic storyline, great characters and narrative. But then they wrapped it up with one ugly, wonky ribbon in the form of bland solutions (the power of friendship at the end with Ei), and wasted character potentials (basically nullified any “bad” things the electro archon did by giving her a soft sweet side to make the fandom love her and .. kokomi…). They really ended that chapter badly and you can tell that, as the game gains popularity, the difficulties are dumbed down, they become more pushed to release chapters and meet the fandoms expectations (selectively though, as they seem not to care about the fandom when it comes to rewards >_>). Anyways, my main point is that this storyline has massive potential, enough so to be maybe a ground braking game that could honestly leave its own legacy in mobile and gacha history. But, mihoyo seems extremely prone to wasting potential in order to meet deadlines, or satisfying the “money” side of the fandom by dulling down characters. I only hope the ending conclusions are as intricate, detailed and magnificent as these theories you come up with!!
While I don’t really look at much of the recent developments through the same lens as you do, I’m really grateful that you appreciate my insight and if nothing else hopefully my theories and lore highlights will help you maintain a certain level of enjoyment from the story overall. Thanks for the great comment!
Theres also an important factor that many end up forgetting. The fact that MC purifies Dvalin's Tears from the corruption they once had, something that not even archons could get rid of and those corrupted tears originating from the poison left in Dvalin's body after the fight against Durin.
Original "light" power is indicated by white colour in siblings costumes. The thing is, that by using dark power Lumine still has white light emanating from her dress, only her sword changes (like a cursed weapon). I think This power is corrupted light or corrupted Celestial energy. That would explain why they needed distorted statue of the seven.
"Abyss Herald uses dark power to create a portal." Umm how about those portals created by the fatui to assault the jade chamber back in 1.1? Are they the same thing?
I would love to play the other sibling's path before we get to the end of the story. Like a flashback or as its own chapter with its own set of characters. That would be dope.
I guess for my theory here is collecting all elements allows you to ascend to celestia More edit: yes "collection" why im saying this? Remember that teyvat trailer said "seven treasures" which is represent elements and "doorway to divinity" also kazuha proved us that you can wield more than one vision. So my theory here is if you have all seven elements you will be able to ascend to celestia
What about Vanessa ascending to Celestia without a single vision? The traveller could’ve just ascend there in some archon quests before getting all 7 elements maybe
@@dipsimply183 i think Vanessa's "ascending" is just an early rephrase of her death of age. She was human all along. And as we say XYZ is a legend or god and never will forgotten after the death, people of tevat may something like this in their context as well.
That makes sense, but why then would lumine have been stuck on teyvat? She has reached the end of her journey so she should have been able to ascend at this point. Maybe dainsleif had a hand in stopping her, but I'm not sure the motivations would line up, and especially I'm not sure why lumine hasn't remedied yet. Maybe there is a ritual to ascend to celestia, and dainsleif ruined her only chance, so now she patiently waits for her sibling to complete his own journey and travels, while tending to the abyss order
At the start of the game when the traveler is speaking with paimon, he says something "after i woke up....my powers were gone", stating that he knew about his powers already and wasn't just an ambition of a second when lumine was being taken away. So I think aether wielded the light element but his powers were locked within him and currently his powers only resurface when his ambition reaches its peak (like you said). I may be wrong, feel free to correct me or share your ideas.
your videos are so ridiculously well made, I love how the music synchs with the tone at certain moments and all the footage that really sends what you're saying home, quality stuff
Thanks! I work very hard to produce my videos with careful consideration of each layered track whether it’s Audio or Visual for the best story telling experience. I’m glad you liked it ^__^
I would say that this the game has introduced the concept of someone having an affinity to positive/negative energy other than the traveler before, with Chongyun, who has a an abundance of yang (positive) energy, and in the lore he never reveals what goal/ambition led to him receiving a vision. He also claims to have personality changes when the yang energy takes over...somewhat similar to the traveler acting differently when confronting Scaramouche or at Tenshukaku (and yes dw I know that yin/yang and Chongyun's story tropes are not only a genshin thing, it just struck me as interesting that the game incorporated this concept which initially appeared to only affect one character)
my guess is that we might get these elements after we get all the 7 ones. nice video! I hope we so more details about the light and dark elements soon in the story ^^
I’m thinking that the light element may be a combination of all the other 7 elements, and the dark element is like the anti-element or absence of an element. This would make sense because white light is a combination of every color of light, while darkness is the absence of light.
I think something like this will happen We could be able to intract with the upside down statue from 1.4 and from there we might be able to wield that unknown element
I imagine that most of the plot's mysteries about Celestia will be revealed in Snezhnaya. It seems like Her Majesty The Tsaritsa would be the only Archon who will give us straight answers as she defies the Heavenly Principles. I think mysteries about our sister will be revealed in Khaenri'ah, possibly including these elements.
Indeed. I’m sure that’s an intended correlation with their whole ability to resonate with all elements. Possibly setting us up to become the true god of Teyvat. Who knows?
This is actually a really nice theory. Makes a lot of sense, just to clarify there are the know 7 elements which has their own gnosis. But what about the light and dark elements? Do they have a gnosis? What do you think?
Perhaps light and dark act as a sort of vessel instead, the outer layer of the Gnosis. The tension between the two keeps the essence of the element in question "trapped" within so to speak. Probably not. But maybe...
The gnosis represent chess pieces, but not the two kings pieces, maybe the two elements represent the white king and the black king. Maybe celestia has the white king right now, but aether could possibly overtake them, while lumine has been destined to just oppose the white king (celestia no matter what)
I also noticed that the parts of aethers clothes that glow in game were dark in the beginning, but lumines are white. This may also be hinting that there is some kind of power she possess that aether doesn't anymore, since when they fight the unknown God these parts glow white on both of their clothes
I will always wonder why theorists have those soothing talk show podcast voices and they really just make you understand everything 😌 it’s just really nice 👍🏽
I think the evil siblings (Let's go with Lunine) journey was the same as Aethers in terms of order...she visited each kingdom in Tyvat and helped them with their problems much like her brother did and befriended people and The Archons as well. From what we know from the treiler the last kingdom that will unlock for us would be Khanriah...I think that was the last kingdom for Lumine as well, where unlike everywhere else they helped her look for her brother actively as well. But when "the incident" happened and Khanriah was demolished by the Archons she once saw as friends it may have triggered her Dark Ambition...now why doesn't anyone remember her? Well besides Venti and Zhongli all the archons are new and after that war. Alsk Dainslief was cursed to Immortality...so the magics here are powerful. Perhaps Lumine was forcefully removed from the remaining archond memory as a symbolic way to "burn" the friendship they once had?
Assuming that rewinding of the explosion was Time magic, she could very well be Venti's lost friend, the God of Time (coincidentally, in the Paimon menu as it is called, we have the option to fast-forward time but that might just be a game mechanic)
yeah maybe aethers attack really damaged her but she rewinded time and was shocked because of the power of element and using her powers to seal the travellers she ended up turning herself back in to a child paimon
There seems like 4 to 5 different energies imo. 1.: White light is only seen on twins clothes and maybe their wings and sustainer when she blocks the 2 swords. 1.1: Golden light you can see on sustainers feet when she walks in the air and her star shaped gates before they turn dark red, all over both travelers, on sigils of permission when Childe calls Osial, on the jade chamber scene and in Ei's purified realm. 2.: Cosmic blue-black is on Dain and Paimon. 3.: Purple smoke is in abyss and Khaenr'ah, also coating sibling's sword. 4.: Dark red you can see on sustainer cubes and Ei's realm expansion. P.S.: If I had to guess what each of those is: White: actual divine (god) power Gold: divine creations Cosmic: time Purple: honkai Dark red: space/void Also I don't think travelers will ever have a vision or a gnosis. World is dying the actual creator is gone the sustainer yeets the 2 siblings down and puts their power into the land so if they want it back they have to cleanse it. Sustainer guards actual heavenly kingdom while celestia pretends to be god and honkai is here to f everyone. Khaenri'ah let it out into the world accidentally so sustainer went to plug the hole and fkd it up. Bottom like I feel like it's not enough clear info to really understand anything rn.
Just watched this vid and I have a theory. Light element could possibly be the presence of all elements while dark element can be the complete lack of elements.
By the wy, in the first trailer Traces of Teyvat, at the end you see the traveler with black color on jewels of it's armor, who is usually colored depending of the element you resonate with
very interesting idea Toward the end you say that the sustainer capture lumine and she witness the destruction of kaenriah after that but during the dainsleif quest the traveler stat that lumine wake him up and told him they should leave because she already assist the cataclysm
So Chongyun positive energy or yang energy is maybe a key of the story. If chongyun able to control his yang energy. A cryo and light ice boy. hmm I like it.
Don't sure if anybody has said this but Lumine - Luminance basically Light Aether - Ether, the unusual 5th element of the 4 basic alchemy elements (Fire,Water,Air,Earth) and sometimes referred as, guess what, Void
That’s a very interesting idea, the twins being more adept at absorbing these supposed elements like conduits. Makes me wonder what Dain was using, something more blueish but with a galaxy theme
What if, it's more like space and time? Dain seemed to phase shift to enter the abyss portal as if using some sort of power to manipulate space which can be attributed to dark theme. Also after exiting Tenshukaku it's more like the space around us is disturbed which cause the heavy atmosphere and not to mention most portal aka abyss/warp points are represented in darker colour variation. Remember the upside down statue? It was teleported there by the abyss mages or how most of them have teleportation powers(aka heralds)? As for time/light, remember the time god quests? We can only find the lost light at night and being able to control night and day(despite being a game mechanic), may also shows either we somehow have the remnants of light energy or confirming the theory where Paimon's the time god. During the beginning cutscene, Lumine has already traveled the world once while Aether is trapped in the meteorite(spaceship), so how can he still be healthy if not for Lumine's time/light energy that protected him that whole time. This also brings a point where, we did not actually resurrected during Baal's fight but revert back to when we're actually full health, which corresponded to why the sustainer was only able to seal us instead of finishing us off. Also, our sibling once said "We have always..had enough time" showing that they once have the light/time attributed powers? But it's just a theory tho.
The chess theory starts making more and more sense, it explains why there are only 7 elements but 8 pieces for two sides. The king pieces may be related to the gnosis of those who wield those special powers, the white king maybe resides in celestia right now but the MC may be able to ascend and steal the throne, while the sibling is the black king. The only little thing that I don't like and would have been really cool imo, would have been if somehow aether was the black king and lumine the white king. Since lumine moved first in teyvat and aether moved after her. It could still make sense if like lumine tried to ascend as black king but failed, and now aether has the chance to either become the white king himself and overtake celestia, or become the dark king and slaughter all the white pieces in his way until he can capture the white king
That would be an interesting twist. In fact I was considering. A plot line in this video discussing something similar. But decided to cut it for time. That said Consider this: When the travelers are properly awarded an elemental resonance their clothing lights up to match the respective color. So if they are resonating with the power of light and dark then they have not done so completely yet as neither appears to show a light which matches one of the two elements. Atm lumine does have the same bright white glow both travelers had at the game’s start. This may suggest she’s completely regained her natural powers, but Aether has not yet. So it’s possible that Lumine isn’t too far gone yet. The dark ambitions are trusted to her, but she’s not completely resonating with darkness…. Yet…. And even our own traveler has shown the capacity to resonate with both.
i feel like the sustainer is just doing her job (judging how one arm is seemingly the corrupt one and one being a cleaaner one with a 4 spiked star, it is kinda clear how neutral she is to me personally), she saw the siblings as a threat to the heavenly principles that was intended for teyvat but after witnessing how it was a mistake to try and stop aether and their powers reacted abnormally, she made a quick decision to send them back to teyvat as she might've seen them now as the balance that teyvat needed to permanently abide by the heavenly principles and thus sent lumine in a journey through darkness, possibly assisted by the sustainer's corrupt side and aether with paimon as the sustainer's light side.
have u seen Ashikai’s theory about the siblings being stars? looking at this and that together, it’s making sense out of a lot of things and also confusing me
Luma/light elemental reaction ideas: Radiate: pyro luma reaction: the enemy hit with this glows a bright aura that hurts enemy’s near it. Glimmer: hydro luma reaction: acts like melt/evaporate but for luma and hydro Overgrown: Dendro luma reaction: grows vines near the feet of the effected, acts like mage hilichurl vines Empowered: electro luma reaction: doesn’t cause an effect Cause two subtractions, 1: release: if attacked by a light attack, explodes into blinding light, acts like overload 2: channeled: basically electric charge but faster
Things that almost all theories fail to acknowledge. Before the Archon wars there was more than 7 elements. Havria was the God of Salt. She controlled salt and only salt. Knowing this, how many other elements could have existed in the past and what caused the main 7 to be chosen? Nor main character nor the sibling was sealed for 500 years. Its not know for how long either have being awake. All we know is that they awoke sometime between 2 months to 500 years ago and the main character was wandering alone from that moment until he meet Paimon. Were the they woke could be a very significant piece of information. Did they woke In a cave, a ancient ruin, in the Mondstadt region, in the middle of no were or in the region were khaenri'ah was located? The location could contain a lot of information about the how they where sealed and the unknow god.
Guys you should take a look at constellation ether you will see that the sword is curved like the moon and the constellation lumeen is not curved like the moon. This is the theory of the sword that appeared in the video
[Long post warning] I've been wondering if maybe the twins could in a sense function the same way that visions do. How visions are powered by one's ambition, they too have shown to be powered in some way by other people's ambitions such as in Liyue with the adeptal energies and in Inazuma with the people's ambitions. Also (possibly unrelated) at the very beginning of the game when the Traveler first gains Anemo, Paimon says "Did you just feel the elements of the world?" Then she goes on to say how no one else in the world can gain power as easily as the Traveler can so maybe that was all foreshadowing everything to come in more ways than one. I think the personality and emotions of each vision wielder probably has some effect on their manifestation of their vision (cryo-wielders being lonely, pyro-wielders being passionate). If that's the case, I think a big distinction between these two light and dark energies is that the light seems to be powered by desire to protect (Aether in Liyue and Inazuma) while the dark seems to be powered by vengeance (Lumine's vengeance for Khaenri'ah). However, those are two very similar desires that there can be a lot of moral ambiguity between the two so that could be easily swayed either way. Also I think the corrupting power that Xiao and the other Yakshas deal/dealt with as well as the Tatarigami in Inazuma may be connected in some way to this dark negative form of energy since they both seem to be powered by vengeance or some similar negative emotion. Durin's remains on Dragonspine and the corruption of the sacred sakura might also be connected to that negative energy. Collei in the manga also has some sort of dark power that didn't seem to be connected to the other elements or a vision but she seemed to be powered by her negative emotions and desire for vengeance but also the archon residue forcibly injected into her. I think we might get a lot more information about these positive and negative energies in Sumeru since that's where Collei and Cyno were headed at the end of the manga and Cyno seemed to be pretty knowledgeable about Collei's powers. Maybe the reason why the abyss twin wants us to reach the end of our journey is so we can see the true nature of the world as being horrible and unjust and see what they saw. In the We Will Be Reunited cutscene we saw the abyss twin using some dark (purple) power which Dainsleif also seems to use and they both are driven by desire for vengeance (against the gods). So far the playable twin hasn't really seen much that could stir that much anger and vengeance yet except for Signora's execution and the encounter with Scaramouche (who seems to know a lot more about the world from the Unreconciled Stars event) and Scaramouche eggs them on to "embrace the anger". I feel like as the story progresses the Traveler may see a lot more things that could push them in that direction and that might be something they have to actively resist or give in to like in a lot of LightvsDark stories. I was really hoping to see what other people thought of that sequence right after seeing Signora's death since there wasn't really any concrete explanation about the headaches and everything. Loved the video, can't wait for more!
I think something you should also look into is what each character has in common based upon their vision, I think by seperating them and picking at each characters story we may get an idea of what these ambitions are that give away these elements.
If you believe in this theory, it might do you well to explore what we know about Azhdaha, maybe in its own video. For instance (spoilers to Zhongli Story Quest) Azhdaha is a character deeply connected to both ley lines AND The Chasm, but is also an entity that can possess all of the current elements (barring dendro) and is also specifically able to use Yin (dark) to manifest their vengeance into manipulating others, as well as its Yang (light) to manifest its resolve into guidance. It is something to consider seeing as the miners who were manipulated were under Azhdaha/Jiu's control, but it could just be a nice coincidence, considering the idea of Yin Yang kind of seems to exist in Liyue already (see Chongyun) and the power seemed to look different to the abyssal powers Lumine had. Still, it was interesting to me when I first encountered it and Azhdaha, while not being directly important to the happenings of Teyvat, biologically seems to hold a lot of history in them, just food for thought.
Yeah those are solid paths to walk for this theory as well. I mostly didn’t go that route because it was already pretty long as it is lol. But you’re 100% right, they certainly add more compelling evidence that Dark and Light exist.
The Visions do seem to be given to those whose ambitions and personalities line up with the Archon of that element. The Archons might just be used as archetypes for deciding who receives what Vision. Maybe that's why the Electro Visions stopped appearing because when Ei sealed herself inside her puppet, perhaps she was deemed unfit to serve as an archetype for choosing Electro Vision wielders. Perhaps the twins align with the shadow and holo archons.
Ei went into her mindscape centuries ago, electro visions only stopped when the vision hunt decree started. Also she isn't inside the puppet but the sword.
Is....THAT why Ei was gonna strike us down?! She sensed our ambition turning dark, way, way dark and could have awoken our powers? Powers way beyond her own... power reminiscent of an old God, that remains long after they're gone. Ei feared for the safety of her people, for Inazuma and meant to struck us down.... then that smile later isn't pride, I believe its happiness to see that the traveler could return back to the light, back to hope to combat the darkness.
It also helps that their names are respectively supposed to be representing darkness and light although Aether is more "quintessence/void" and Lumine is more "light" (literal and non-celestial, just sparkle) and their clothing having to embody such elements too. If you play as Lumine it would make much more sense lol.
I believe Collei had this as well, a pure and genuine hatred/darkness that manifested in a black fire that would only eat living things. She was also "cured" of this and eventually got a true vision. Also, another thing I noticed when genshin first came out was that the domains we enter for the first time are purified by our touch, just like the tears.
Whatever the name is it has to end with an o so you can attach oculus to it I think the elements being connected to eyes and eyes being a prominent distinct feature of many monsters/characters I actually think this may be important
If you guys know Honkai Impacts Story then Aether/Lumine is going to fall further in the Dark side soo yeah I'm just going Hmmm whats gonna happen next.
The thing that kinda disproves that the power traveller used during the liyue archon quest cutscene is that, when traveller strikes the floor for the jade chamber, there is a brief lightning flash, after which the jade chamber falls, this similar golden lightning was seen in the opening cutscene when our traveller wants to save their sibling.
First time watching this content and its very good and interesting. Although i am in a little bit of pickle here, i thought both traveler were together during archon war and destruction of khenria and when they were trying to escape the world of teyvat their path were block by unknown god. This was said in " we will be reunited" quest line, when paimon asks deinslief 'what happend 500 years ago' the traveller replied he knows what happened and tell every thing to paimon but not us (the players). And dainslief was also surprise that traveller knew and he was there at that time. Am i missing some thing important in the time line of story , can some one explain in detail of this specific part.
Whatever element the traveler is currently using, their clothes glow the color that resembles that particular element. When Aether (or Lumine) is fighting the Unknown God their clothes glow white.
This reminds me of the Dragonspine Sword Story with Albedo. The sword had that dark energy inside and only the traveller could use it... I can't remember exactly what was going on, but Albedo researched the travellers skills. He seems to have an idea of that dark and light theory.
I love this! It's so well thought out! About how the sibling gained her dark ambition... I was thinking that the sibling was basically the protagonist who was unable to overcome that dark ambition possibly because the friends she was fighting for were the people of Khaenri'ah therefore she didn't have that positive reaffirmation because the ones she was with became the abyss. And side thinking what if the archons (the cryo archon directly and the others but indirectly) and the sibling were working together to take down celestia and our character is just oblivious... The cryo archon is collecting gnosis for an unknown reason sending out the harbingers to gather them. Venti could have protected his gnosis but didn't, Zhongli willingly made a contract with the Tsaritsa to give away his gnosis to step down from archon, and Baal cut ties with Celestia, so...maybe our little traveler is a bit naive to the bigger picture? I don't know haha just some fun thoughts! Thanks for the great video!
I just remembered after the update patch today. Notice the image they use? Aether and Lumine sitting at the fountain at Mondstadt. Aether during the Day and Lumine during the Night... Coincidence 🧐
🌸❤️I would say a title to inspire the noggin and wet the curiosity! You have once achieved the impossible, and commanded the gaze, I am but powerless to extend it❤️🌸
light and darkness represent the 8th element or you can redefine it.Light (sanity) posesses time properties and darkness (insanity) includes space properties (e.g. restricting space and open portals,).Both form the 8th element because without space time has no influence and keeps the status quo but also without time the space cease to exist in the first place. This would explain why rift hounds return into a space portal when they are beaten. Another take might be the light is the combination of all seven elements while shadow is the anti thesis of light/the elemental energy of the world. When I saw the Guoba story and how he sacrificed his powers+wisdom to restore the soil I had the thought he didn't do it only for the people but also for himself.Maybe the environment got corrupted by shadow and he was close to become corrupted so to keep his pure amibiton (kindness, happyness, pleasure of food, socialising with the humans) he gave up his power and status as a god to not get under control of the darkness element. Another thing might be that Lumine never got the opportunity to get the support of the archon statues (aka resonate with the main elements in Teyvat like with Aether). This could mean she hasn't the ability to do so she adapted to the darkness over her journey (with Dainsleif)
I think a good way to uncover the missing piece of what determines your vision’s element, is to read through all the vision stories of the characters, Barbara’s came from her need to heal the injured. Maybe Aqua is associated with protection?
this was such a enlightening video, ive always had my suspicions of light/dark element being introduced, but after watching this its probably going to be an exclusive element only accessed by the travellers, and alter/celestial beings like dainsleif and the Sustainer. Considering teyvat only has 7 elements.
Plot twist we are the unknown God and the seal is a power to let us control the traveler and is why we choose who becomes the leader of the abyss and the character we played as and limits the traveler power so the game is balanced

The theory was great and easy to understand as always but moving to the important part..."sigh" we have found it, the strongest weapon one and only DULL BLADE.

Remember the namecard obtainable after completing all 'Elemental specialist' achievements? it goes like this:
"Light can refract into countless colors, but people stop at seven because they're lazy to count. Perhaps the elements are like that, too."
With Marchosius (aka Guoba) lore we also got a 'new' elemental symbol: the fusion of Geo and Pyro (Geo as a base and the flame of Pyro), this new symbol represents Marchosius origin 'Marchosius, God of the Stove, born from a spark when stone struck stone'.
If we relate light to 'Celestia' (we are constantly told that Gods descends upon the mortal realm), then the 7 elements are just oversimplifications of countless building blocks, and oversimplifications always tend to left something important behind.
There are only 7 elements because there are only 7 gnoses. Before the archon war, there were countless elements, but these got rejected after the war.
so there should be 12 elements?
or more since the whole purpose is that they dont stop at a certain number.
What you said made me think of something. If there was really only seven elements AKA seven Archon and seven Gnosis, there shouldn't be other elements right?
However, we know at least three other parties that showed powers that does not seemed related to those of the seven elements :
1- The sustainer of heavenly principles (We still don't know what power she was using)
2- The God of Time (In mondstat region theyre are ruins that relate his existence and Venti also knows him)
3- The Abyss Order / Dainsleif (Could the Abyss be an element in itself? Also I put Dainsleif with the Abyss Order since they came from the same contry but their power could be different)
@@jeremygoulet1704 **god of time that sounds an awful like Paimon**
oh yea, xiangling become pyro and geo user would be excellent.
I found out an interesting detail: In the fight with the Sustainer, Aether actually lost his weapon, so the light we see him use against her can take physical form.
Yeah he basically tried to punch her
Yeah your right I didnt notice it at all
I don't think they lost it; they put it away like the charactes in genshin do
@@slayemall6473 no they lost it
if they just put it away they would not be using dull blade in cutscenes right now
ig the sword will be used back later after snezhnaya in place of dull blade
@@slayemall6473 If you pay close attention to the cutscene at the start of the game, and focus on the one you chose (I'll use Aether as an example), Aether's sword got absorbed into the cubes. Aether manages to evade the cubes by abandoning his weapon, but Lumine, who never let go of her beloved sword, got absorbed by the cubes.
Wow, I thought I was the only one that noticed this. The game is almost to an obsessive point always points out how the Traveler doesn't have a Vision, even though he doesn't need one.
In fact it’s utterly useless to them
Because that world have vision as their main thing.
@@Aeginous how dafuq does that make any sense?
I've found it especially strange when you realize that manipulating elements without a vision is actually fairly common despite it being treated as something non-existent.
The archons, gods/adepti, various monsters, delusion holders, and slimes moreso than anything else are all able to manipulate the elements without a vision. Signora being shown able to manipulate pyro without a vision despite having roots as a human I think as a very intentional thing set up in the latest archon quest
You know that the traveller is winning once he gets that Golden Aura.
With the power of plot armor and anime protaginist powers I shall kick your ass!

The plot armor aura.

This makes the chess theories (cause u know, black and white) a whole more interesting.

Do you mind sharing where the game gives that information about the multiple elements? I might have missed it
@@denebvegaaltair1146 I'd say the time god lore, a god barely talked about, and nearly forgotten, but stated to have existed at one point. Time doesn't fit into any other element but it's own.
maybe instead of light and dark we can look at as corruption and purity, corruption resembling the negative and dark energy and purity resembling the light and positive energy, we’ve seen the traveler purify dvalins tears that were corrupted by the abyss, perhaps when the other traveller was taken by the heavenly principals it corrupted them granting them the ability to manipulate the dark energy
i agree
Dark literally is just an umbrella term for corrupt, evil etc xD
@@drkufdrahrepus2868 Not always, a common trope in fantasy is how light and dark are just tools and can be used for good or evil in either hands, and its the misconception that light and dark are inherently good or evil that misleads the protagonist for fighting for light, only to discover they were fighting for evil all along.
That could explain how Aether could purify dvalin's tears at first
ig it could also explain how traveler could hold the sword that albedo gave us?

It wasn't rushed, it's just unlike low AR players who needs to increase AR to proceed, we don't.
Do the world quests already. I'm a little tired of this when the world quests expand a lot more on the archon quest and we are still getting more of such content up until sumeru

Omg you are right, on Guoba's back there is a symbol which is likely representing the pyro and geo emblems together

@@takotakotakotakotako if so, Chrono (Time) is a possible element.
Lmao I didnt expect this 😂😭
Coincidentally my friend is playing through this quest when they meet right at this moment hahaha.
@BunsGlazing hm? why?
9:04 "But Aether remains silent..."
I means, hasn't he always been silent. 😂
Oooooo that's actually a nice theory
@@Roses_R_Red_ this also makes sense when Lumine said "we always have enough time" because they have control over it.
That might make sense
"In Greek mythology, Aether, or Aither (/ˈiːθər/; Ancient Greek: Αἰθήρ, romanized: Aithḗr, pronounced [ai̯tʰɛ̌ːr]) is one of the primordial deities. Aether is the personification of the "upper sky".[1] He embodies the pure upper air that the gods breathe, as opposed to the normal air (Ancient Greek: ἀήρ, Latin: aer) breathed by mortals.[citation needed] Like Tartarus and Erebus, Aether may have had shrines in ancient Greece, but he had no temples and is unlikely to have had a cult."
Aether's name in JP is 空 (Sora) which means sky. So in a way it makes sense. Though the god of time greek is chronos
@@orionchevalier7398 in science Aether is the element that supports and amplifies all elements, hence supporting my previous statement. That, being the reason why he can resonate with all of them.
Well Aether and lumine's names both have correlation to light and space

Fk that shiet. I will still ice her with Celestia.

Speaking of this dark and light theory ; brings to notice; that the corruption on dvalin was "purified" by just coming in contact with the traveller
Maybe these powers are inherently counteractive just like qua and Img in honkai
Maybe our traveller will have to fight this dark energy head on to truly awaken his light energy
Tho it'll be years before that happens
This proves Kazuha is so pure, pure enough to completely snap the traveler out of his trance just by being near him-
Lmao
This might be something un-essential but i think the traveler we chose still has their original power
My only clue is that only mona and aether can summons stars from their palms in their idle animation
Mona will be important trust me
these theories are so wonderful but i must admit I’m so afraid of mihoyo wasting the potential of their stories and going for something extremely basic and predictable.
"Abyss Herald uses dark power to create a portal."
Umm how about those portals created by the fatui to assault the jade chamber back in 1.1? Are they the same thing?

I guess for my theory here is collecting all elements allows you to ascend to celestia
More edit: yes "collection" why im saying this? Remember that teyvat trailer said "seven treasures" which is represent elements and "doorway to divinity" also kazuha proved us that you can wield more than one vision. So my theory here is if you have all seven elements you will be able to ascend to celestia
Ash from the other dimension: did you say, "collection"?!!
What about Vanessa ascending to Celestia without a single vision? The traveller could’ve just ascend there in some archon quests before getting all 7 elements maybe
@@dipsimply183 its just my theory its just a possibility to be true dont take it too serious xD

I would say that this the game has introduced the concept of someone having an affinity to positive/negative energy other than the traveler before, with Chongyun, who has a an abundance of yang (positive) energy, and in the lore he never reveals what goal/ambition led to him receiving a vision. He also claims to have personality changes when the yang energy takes over...somewhat similar to the traveler acting differently when confronting Scaramouche or at Tenshukaku
(and yes dw I know that yin/yang and Chongyun's story tropes are not only a genshin thing, it just struck me as interesting that the game incorporated this concept which initially appeared to only affect one character)

I found that scene with the heavy atmosphere weird and did thought it was as Paimon said Shogun's power
my guess is that we might get these elements after we get all the 7 ones.
nice video! I hope we so more details about the light and dark elements soon in the story ^^
I’m thinking that the light element may be a combination of all the other 7 elements, and the dark element is like the anti-element or absence of an element. This would make sense because white light is a combination of every color of light, while darkness is the absence of light.
@@anthonyowens8822 make sense
I think something like this will happen
We could be able to intract with the upside down statue from 1.4 and from there we might be able to wield that unknown element

One thing that I also find interesting is how you can actually see the traveler in their constellation, much like the archons.
Indeed. I’m sure that’s an intended correlation with their whole ability to resonate with all elements. Possibly setting us up to become the true god of Teyvat. Who knows?
DUUUDE ive been wanting there to be a light and dark ability in the game so we can play dainslef and light traveller
@@huismands good theory, but I think they play too big of a role, it feels disappointing if that's the explanation
Maybe paimon was sent by someone (our sibiling?) to keep us in the light
The gnosis represent chess pieces, but not the two kings pieces, maybe the two elements represent the white king and the black king.
Maybe celestia has the white king right now, but aether could possibly overtake them, while lumine has been destined to just oppose the white king (celestia no matter what)
well paimon mentioned that the traveler is worth more than a gnosis. maybe that's a clue?

We need a video on Dull Blade and why it’s canonically the strongest weapon we’ve seen
No wonder the Traveler uses the Dull Blade, "Youthful dreams and the thrill of adventure. If this isn't enough, then make it up with valiance."
This game needs to be turned into anime with no less then 8 seasons
even the glowing parts of their outfit show the specific element and at the beginning aethers was black and lumines was white
I also noticed that the parts of aethers clothes that glow in game were dark in the beginning, but lumines are white. This may also be hinting that there is some kind of power she possess that aether doesn't anymore, since when they fight the unknown God these parts glow white on both of their clothes
The energy that surrounds the Traveler in the Scaramouche scene is very similar to the one that surrounded the Evil Sibling, I love this theory
Which makes it all the more bullshit when you realise that the Traveler is able to purge and purify corruption
@@deathwingthedestroyer3632 who knows, maybe the travellers are able to weild both the light and the dark elements or something

I named my traveler Lightweaver because the siblings had light wings in the fight scene
yooo!!! i've had this theory for a while as well, really cool to see you speaking on it!
If we look at one of venti's voice lines, he says
'we met again traveller, wait you don't remember me... ( Or something like that)
Assuming that rewinding of the explosion was Time magic, she could very well be Venti's lost friend, the God of Time (coincidentally, in the Paimon menu as it is called, we have the option to fast-forward time but that might just be a game mechanic)
yeah maybe aethers attack really damaged her but she rewinded time and was shocked because of the power of element and using her powers to seal the travellers she ended up turning herself back in to a child paimon
@@exprezgamer3658 Or, you know, she could have just turned herself into a smaller non-recognizable form to watch the Traveler

@@gweny5281 really? interesting...
wouldnt it be neat if there was an actual reason behind the colors of each element which would explain why light and dark almost match geo and electro
P.S.: If I had to guess what each of those is:
White: actual divine (god) power
Gold: divine creations
Cosmic: time
Purple: honkai
Dark red: space/void
Also I don't think travelers will ever have a vision or a gnosis.
I guess this explains how our traveller was able the purify divalin's tears in the prologue
By the wy, in the first trailer Traces of Teyvat, at the end you see the traveler with black color on jewels of it's armor, who is usually colored depending of the element you resonate with
very interesting idea
Toward the end you say that the sustainer capture lumine and she witness the destruction of kaenriah after that but during the dainsleif quest the traveler stat that lumine wake him up and told him they should leave because she already assist the cataclysm
So Chongyun positive energy or yang energy is maybe a key of the story. If chongyun able to control his yang energy. A cryo and light ice boy. hmm I like it.
I hate that we have to wait years for the story to be complete, if there is one thing I hate is waiting.
Don't sure if anybody has said this but
Lumine - Luminance basically Light
Aether - Ether, the unusual 5th element of the 4 basic alchemy elements (Fire,Water,Air,Earth) and sometimes referred as, guess what, Void
That’s a very interesting idea, the twins being more adept at absorbing these supposed elements like conduits. Makes me wonder what Dain was using, something more blueish but with a galaxy theme
probably the same thing, he wants revenge from Khaenri'ah being destroyed and his immortality curse.
@@zeiccia Ya but the blues look pretty different from the black purples
@@LISA.WANG. So? Dendro mages have a light green AoE and dark green vines while shields are usually brown, color doesnt mean much
@@LISA.WANG. I can also mention Mona's galaxy themed powers, Kazuha's brown ult, Raiden's also black purple ult, etc.
@@zeiccia Ya those are known elements, you think Dain's looks like water? Like Mona's skills? We were talking about hypothetically new elements

Luma/light elemental reaction ideas:
Radiate: pyro luma reaction: the enemy hit with this glows a bright aura that hurts enemy’s near it.
Glimmer: hydro luma reaction: acts like melt/evaporate but for luma and hydro
Overgrown: Dendro luma reaction: grows vines near the feet of the effected, acts like mage hilichurl vines
Empowered: electro luma reaction: doesn’t cause an effect
Cause two subtractions,
1: release: if attacked by a light attack, explodes into blinding light, acts like overload
2: channeled: basically electric charge but faster

[Long post warning]
I've been wondering if maybe the twins could in a sense function the same way that visions do.
"pyro wielders being passionate"
Diluc who wants to die: yes I'm very passionate
This channel is very underrated. Kudos to you bro very well thought theory. Looking forward to watch more of your theories.
@@101Mant She wasn't aware of Electro Visions no longer being handed out though.
If you play as Lumine it would make much more sense lol.
i play as lumine and noticed it also
I believe Collei had this as well, a pure and genuine hatred/darkness that manifested in a black fire that would only eat living things. She was also "cured" of this and eventually got a true vision. Also, another thing I noticed when genshin first came out was that the domains we enter for the first time are purified by our touch, just like the tears.
when u said that the sustainer rewinds time i immediately thought of paimon who controls time... im doubting her now
Whatever the name is it has to end with an o so you can attach oculus to it
I think the elements being connected to eyes and eyes being a prominent distinct feature of many monsters/characters I actually think this may be important

Thank you! I thought I was the only one who paid attention at the idea of the Traveller eventually getting a vision of some sort.
But do they really need one anyway?
I doubt they will have one. If anything they will probably have their own element
I just remembered after the update patch today. Notice the image they use? Aether and Lumine sitting at the fountain at Mondstadt. Aether during the Day and Lumine during the Night... Coincidence 🧐

light and darkness represent the 8th element or you can redefine it.Light (sanity) posesses time properties and darkness (insanity) includes space properties (e.g. restricting space and open portals,).Both form the 8th element because without space time has no influence and keeps the status quo but also without time the space cease to exist in the first place.
