I think Paimon's true purpose might be similar to Elysia's in Honkai Impact 3d. She can be the child of God (Primordial One), like Jesus Christ, that will sacrifice herself for humanity (Teyvat).
She already has the power of the 9th element, look at her chest and the universal dice in TCG - it's the same triquetra. She could be the exact reason why MC is able to use all the elements. 9th element is called Kether or The Crown, which is what we see above Paimon's head... Coincidence? I don't think so.
Yes, I said 9th because 8th element is Physical, it's called Malkhuth. Tree Of Life in Kabbalah consists of 11 elements in total, so we're still missing 2 - Daath and Yesod.

I want to add a couple of things I noticed:
1. When you go to the secret island on the quest, you use the elemental vision to find elemental traces, these are in the form leaves. This suggests that both Venti and the Dendro archon were responsible for "sealing" someone there (probably the god of time).
2. If Paimon is the god of moments (or something related to it), then you see how perfectly Makoto's words match what's happening: Paimon *had* to be there for the seed to be planted.

I like this theory. I have a theory of my own, though. I think Paimon wound up in the water because she fell (was kicked) from the floating island in the sky. She was maybe some kind of deity of that place, and the other deities banished her for whatever reason. By chance the traveller fished her out, told her his story and she realized they have something in common. They both have a grudge with the heavenly beings. She is too weak to get back at them on her own, so she needs the travellers help. She's using him.

• @tigerthebest96
@tigerthebest96 2 года назад +42

Paimon knew that the situation in Inazuma "wasn't that bad a year ago" during the end of Liyue's archon quest... Thus she had to be around at least for a year before getting rescued by the traveler. You could argue she had some memory of all the things since she is a special case but I still don't buy It. Not to mention the place in wich we fish her out doesn't resemble any scenary we can see in mondstadt... It must be in mondstadt but maybe not directly in front of the nameless island (I think it's north of mondstadt by the sea but we can't go there yet). Also the fishing happens 2/3 months before the start of the game, they must have moved locations in that time span.

Ymir was a god in Norse mythology he was the “original” came before everything including the world. He created some humans who were ,I believe, later killed by his newer creations. The the creator god himself was to be killed by those same creations and his corpse being used to make the world. Just thought it was interesting that he was mentioned as the clouds.
Edit: I did some more research into Ymir and well
1. His brains did indeed get thrown into the sky and turned into the clouds
2. His skull (which was thrown ig up first bc there was no sky) made the sky
3. His blood made the seas and lakes
4. His unbroken bones made mountains
5. His broken bones and teeth made stones rocks and sometimes boulders
6. He made hundreds of ice dudes and he’s also Odin’s grandfather
7. He somehow (found?) a cow who then licked a stone into the shape of a human that then gained sentience

Before Sun and Moon also mentions a 2nd god that came to Teyvat after Phanes. I assume the the 2nd who came is the Unknown God from the opening cut scene. The book also hinted that the Unknown God vanquished Phanes and started to impersonate Celestia. It also explains why all these ancient civilizations died out although they had a god looking after them. And it also explains why Scaramouche's the-sky-is-a-lie thing. The Celestia of the present is not the same one of the past.
The Gnosis, I believe, are actually pieces of Phanes. The Archon War was orchestrated to separate the powers without any hope of them consolidating into a singularity. And Visions are granted to those with potential -- the potential that they can overthrow Celestia. It is already revealed itself to be a double-edge sword: those with their vision relinquished so too lose their drive.
As for Khaenriah, the reason for the Calamity 500 years ago was because Celestia feared the nation's power. Khemia was a type of alchemy that could allow Khaenriah to become an entity that could rival Celestia. And thus it was destroyed thru divine intervention before it could become a threat.
This also explains why Snezhnaya's Archon is currently collecting the Gnosis. Down with Celestia. We also know that the event changed her drastically -- Childe describing her as a loving person who had to steel her heart.
Now to explain the starting sequence of Genshin Impact. The reason why the Twins were caught in their attempt to world jump was because: They did so during the Khaenriah Calamity, when the Unknown God was most observant, and that the Twins very well had the potential to overthrow the Unknown God's claim on Celestia. The Twins would very much well be on par with the Archons (if not greater) if their powers were completely sealed (able to use all the elements without a vision, lived for 500 years even if it was in slumber).
And you are probably right about Paimon. Explains the time skip feature in the Paimon menu at the very least. She is probably the key to consolidating all the Gnosis into a single item.

Idk why people keep assuming Paimon and the Traveler met each other in that beach at the start of the game. Unless I'm missing something I'm pretty sure one of the first things Paimon says at the start is that several months have passed since they first met each other and I can't think of a reason they would stick around that one spot for months on end, especially when they were so close to a city.
Another thing to mention is that I'm pretty sure there is some dialogue/ voice lines in the game between the Traveler and Paimon that implies that the Traveler has been going around from place to place while looking for books to presumably gain more knowledge and information. That being the case that can only imply that the Traveler and Paimon have already gone through other different places before the start of the game officially (before reaching Mondstat I mean).

I think Paimon was a moon sister who lived in Celestia. The Gods of Celestia killed her sisters one day for trying to rebel against them. One of the moon sister's spirit can be heard singing/crying in domains. The Gods either spared Paimon or Paimon agreed to do their bidding to avoid death. After the opening cutscene I think Sustainer returned to Celestia or was taken forcefully after the Gods had seen what had happened between her and the travelers. I think it was planned by Celestia for Paimon to wait for the traveler to wake up by their side and had the plan to pretend to drown when the moment arrived, so she could avoid seeming suspicious. The traveler seemed to trust Paimon enough to begin the journey with her. However as we know, Paimon is the one not letting traveler stray to far from the regions we've unlocked and always says "let's explore the area ahead later" as if she is stalling the traveler from finding the sibling. Paimon also foreshadows they will not meet a happy ending and get to go home. It's weird how she always talks traveler into doing meaningless quests which have no relation to finding the lost sibling. Paimon in lore can copy other's powers and can basically clone people/objects. It explains how she used the Sustainer's red cubes during the Jade Chamber battle. Also it's confirmed the characters we summon for are not the main story characters themselves, but rather "dream versions" copied by Paimon. Basically everything in the Paimon menu has to do with her cloning and time powers. Paimon in lore can extract the spirits of people and make copies of them, potentially being fatal to the originals. There is likely a connection between Paimon and Albedo/Albedo's evil copy, and during the Albedo Dragonspine event she foreshadows her and the traveler will split up in a devastating way.. maybe she means her future betrayal. Celestia may use Paimon to clone the traveler or clone his powers of being able to hop worlds as well as his immortality. Then the Celestia Gods can control and travel through the entire bubbleverse rather than just Teyvat. Paimon may also decide to sacrifice herself rather than going along with the Gods' plan, so she may end up letting them kill her for not going through with it, or she will fight them alongside the traveler. For now it seems like she is spying on the traveler while Celestia spies on the two of them, and her job is to actually prevent the traveler from getting to be with his sister by leading him to places to look for her, although Paimon knows she is very far from where they search. If the traveler woke up and Paimon wasn't there, he may have already reunited with his sibling. Not to mention Paimon breaks the fourth wall when you open the Paimon menu and she is floating there while staring at you (the player) with an annoyed/angered expression on her face. I think everything we do in the game is wrong, like using dream versions of cloned original characters and we are fighting on the wrong side. The other sibling seems to know this which is why they have know desire to go near the traveler and the sibling may know much more about Paimon than we do.

Many of the Archons have familiars.
Even Venti had to become an archon to become an archon, he wasn't born as one. He even gives that to us as part of his story. Now we get to see the new dendro archon learning to be an archon.
Perhaps it's a lot simpler than we're thinking. Maybe this is just Paimon's ascension to becoming the archon she's supposed to be and the Traveler was chosen in the moment to be her guardian/familiar. Like whatever deity the twins encountered in the beginning was just like, "alright one of you is going to babysit my daughter." And the one we didn't pick ends up being the asshole with no friends. There are certain species within fantasy that are born with the memories of their parents and maybe in Paimon's case those memories aren't actually being sparked until she's started going to places. Or she has been there before, but she was in a different, more larval form, like Venti was before he became Barbatos. Perhaps she's just a child like Lesser Lord Kusanali, but her element has been missing from the world for so long that even the current archons haven't heard of it, or could be part of the secret Rex Lapis is hiding from us.
I wonder if the abyss twin had a hard go of things because they ended up with evil Paimon during their walkabout, or maybe they had no guide at all.
My personal theory is Paimon is just a fledgling archon. She has shown to be ridiculously durable, has a very childish personality, and is hungry all the time which tells me she's definitely not an adult. She can also make herself disappear into nothing and then reappear when needed. Which would make sense, since a lot of the gods during the archon war ended up dead on account of being too weak to defend themselves and it has been shown that new archons have popped up since then. What if when Paimon disappears for us she reappears for the other twin? Why else would the other twin not be surprised to see Paimon?
If we go by the chess piece theory we've got the back line giving us, what, 8 pieces? We've got dendro, hydro, anemo, pyro, cryo, electro, geo and one missing piece. What if there's actually two and they have to fight over which one gets it? Abyss and Light. What if, just like in Enkanomiya they're interchangeable, like how the Traveler can switch between the other 7 just by visiting a shrine?
I'm probably missing some key bit of information here and I'm probably completely wrong, but it's a fun exercise anyway.

Mona and scaramouch and the unreconciled stars has something to do also with the term "Destiny" on these game and those two are also significant on unlocking the mysteries behind these

I am 90% certain that as little, floaty treasure-obsessed beings, Paimon is related to the seelies. Possibly god, possibly queen, possibly just what they used to look like.
What I find to be a major clue is that when successfully fishing, Paimon will make comments, and one of those comments sounds like a genuine belief you may have fished up another Paimon. This leads me to believe she is not unique.
This would also explain why the seelies you see around the place do not lead any of Teyvat's random inhabitants to their treasure... They aren't even leading the Traveller, they're leading their God-Queen, Paimon!

considering every element has an archon, and dainslief is confirmed to be playable, i think maybe paimon was originally the archon of the element of dainsleifs power, or the archon/leader of khaenriah. since dainslief will have an element, and his element is currently unruled, paimon could have been the disposed archon or leader of khaenriah. i think it makes more sense than paimon being some form of miss heavenly principles or some other abyssal being. obviously there's no evidence, but i think there may be more to the so called "archonless nation" than we thought. maybe the leader of khaenriah was similarly dealt with like dain and possibly kaeya, where they didn't become monsters, but instead became forced to wander teyvat in a different form.

There's another video, and I'm not sure if it's legitimate theorycrafting or shitposting, but he makes a very convincing argument that Paimon is the Primordial One. This could tie in with your idea about the Tsaritsa collecting the gnosis to resurrect the Primordial One, in that if all the gnosis are given to Paimon, it could perhaps awaken her back into the Primordial One.

The game sometimes make me believe that it takes place on a flat planet, one side is teyvat, other side facing down is Kaenriah, and the fake sky is actually created by Celestia acts as a barrier to disguise themselves because they're the evil now, they don't want anyone to face them. The 7 archons might be trying to ascend to celestia with the Paimon (the real primordial one in it's weakened state) and the traveler (whose help is essential for them since traveller has the ability to use elemental energy without a vision) and defeat the one's who pretend to rule now. Since visions are not given by the respective archons, they should be from celestia. Since the celestia can withdraw visions any time, those who rely upon vision's power will prove useless against the fake celsestial gods, that's why the fatuis developed delusions, but they have negative effects on the person using it. Sometime in the future, they might develop resistance to delusion's negative effects. We don't know if it happens or not. Have anyone wondered why in spiral abyss we fight with fatuis too. Are they working with the abyss? The abyss themselves are the people of Kaenriah. They attack teyvat, possibly be a plan to ascend to celestia. They somehow want to destroy the fake sky and reveal celestia so they can ascend to celestia. Anyway the traveler could use elemental energy without vision or delusion, not only traveler, Dainsleif, the other sibling, the people of Kaenriah. Since they got so advanced, it's the reason why Kaenriah got destroyed by the fake celestial gods. They feared Kaenriah. The reason why Tsaritsa is collecting all the gnoses could be a plan to ascend to celestia, by destroying the fake sky. There are chances that these gnoses are responsible for the fake sky, and like visions, gnoses too can't be destroyed in any way. This means there's currently no way to destroy the fake sky, unless Tsaritsa seize all the 6 visions and there could be a way. Snezhnaya is so advanced, similar to Kaenriah. Eventhough the archons have evil biblical names, they might not be evil. May be they might have been evil in the past, when they had gnoses and were puppets of celestia. But now the archons give up their gnoses willingly to Tsaritsa. At last, once the fake celestial gods are defeated, Paimon isn't the same paimon anymore. May be Paimon can undo the curse upon the abyss. This is just a theory. My wish to end this story, because I don't want a fight against Paimon.

Also since Istharoth is one of the 4 shades of the Primordial One, and Venti is one of the thousand winds of Ishtaroth, this kind of makes Venti the grandson of the Primordial One.
Since Ishtaroth was mentioned and said to be a God of Time and "undying wind" I figured that this "undying wind" might have been the term that they might have used to interpret the element of oxygen, meaning the other 4 shades might preside over the 4 elements used to create the universe and are abundant in it: Oxygen, Hydrogen, Carbon, and Nitrogen.
Time & Oxygen
Space & Hydrogen
Death & Carbon
Life & Nitrogen
This makes me think that since the Venti has some form of connection with Ishtaroth, I think Zhongli might have some connection to Odin since his pillars have the symbol of Gungnir on it and the Deathly Statuettes found in the Chasm are of Odin. Similarly, perhaps the Hydro Archon is related to the Sustainer of Heavenly Principles and probably takes on the appearance of Teri Teri from Honkai and the Cryo Archon might have a direct connection to Celestia/Phanes since all the pillars dropped so far seem to have this cold nitrogen-like effect producing fog, cold, and etc.

Paimon has the upside down triquetra on her chest. The upside triquetra is showed only on ONE temple ( The thousand winds one). All the others have the regular triquetra or the quadruple arms version of it, including domains. This leads me to believe that Paimon is indeed a god that has lost a cruel battle to another entity ( which would explain why she's in the water, weakened) and is simply using the traveller to re gain the lost power. In any case we'll be all too old to play Genshin in 10 years time.

In Greek mythos, the titans defeated the giants, then the gods defeated the titans. What if this was to be the story with Teyvat? A chain of dethroning the rulers of the world? But Celestia was able to interfere the chain. Now, we the traveller and possibly the Cryo archon will continue this chain and end Celestia.
From the Enkanomiya lore, a lot of it is inspired from Greek mythology. What if taking down Celestia was Gold’s plan (but in a despicable way, thus the Archons got involved).

Bro, Genshin was created carefully in virtuality, before it was made in the form we know today. Thinking of the subtle hints that are included in the storytelling, one can say Genshin will be the most thought-out game ever, considering the fact that it is a culmination of many cultures; Old and new, and individualistic and societal cultures of countries. Its storyline is embedded in greek mythology and rooted in many more than many people have time to explain. This game would have been in the pipeline for years, guessing 5-6 yrs, before 2020. It all boils down to the fact, that Genshin upon completion will be one of the greatest games in the history of games and more specifically RPG.

• @juzsphere
@juzsphere 2 года назад

My own wild guess:
(possible spoiler?)
Paimon is not an entire "separate entity", she(or he? it?) is both the vessel/prison and part of the original Traveler, that was "divided" when the Unknown Goddess (or somebody else) intervened. Probably including the original Traveler's powers (the powers are not gone, just... separated/obstructed). In such a way, she cannot be truly separated from the player. The link may not be physical, though there may be physical distance limitations as well. the only case where she is "shut out" was in Raiden Ei's conscious realm? though it may be that she was still "there" but just suppressed.
But it could also be that the Traveler is also not entirely made up of what he/she once was: it may included some part that was from the original source of Paimon. This created a symbiotic relationship between the two, where each entity contains parts that was originally from the other. Maybe the Traveler can use the elemental powers only because Paimon is fulfilling the functions similar to a Vision: an external magical organ for channeling (elemental) powers.
iow:
Original Traveler (T+t) + unknown (P+p) + alpha-> present Traveler (T+p) + Paimon (P+t) + beta?
(alpha + beta could be related to meta concepts like the "player" and the "system/game")
But just who is the "unknown"(!!)?
And how is this division possible?
One interesting possibility is... Time ;)
(iow, the unknown could have already appeared as another being that we have met... whom Paimon could be made up from a past/future part of)
Contrary to the common speculation that Paimon is the "hidden/true enemy", I am inclined to believe that Paimon is the ultimate ally (who IS part of the Traveler).
It could even be so: the "player" (the person playing the game) is divided in-game into 2 avatars: the Traveler which you directly controlled, and the "subconscious" which is embodied by Paimon. Noticed how often Paimon seems to voice the comments/questions of the "player" which is not voiced explicitly by the Traveler? Because they are two facets of the "player".
It is a little scary though, to speculate that if the Traveler ever need to get back his/her original powers, Paimon may choose to sacrifice her current form to break the "division", so as to "return" to the Traveler, but in so, losing her individual identity (once again becoming the Traveler's subconscious)
Though I am interested by the possibility, emotionally, I really don't wish this is the way things are "destined"...
