Finally someone that drives his car. My neighbor has 3 beautiful cars and puts maybe 20 miles on each per year, except one, which doesnt leave the garage. They aren't old collectibles, just modern muscle maybe $50-70k each.
Since I was 16, a 911. At the time, it seemed like an obtainable dream. But as the years passed and the price of the 911 increased, it no longer seems obtainable.
Love this ''dream car'' stories. For me i consider ''dream cars'' the ones that i could possibly afford one day. Obviously an F40 is one of my fav cars of all time but wouldn't be fair to consider it my ''dream car''. For example, my dream car was always the Nissan 350z, byt here in Argentina its very difficult to find one in good shape at a good price. After realising the ''dream'' was over, some folks at Toyota decided to release the new version of the 86. It was like a breath of fresh air, but once again i knew the prices in Argentina were going to be at the roof. Some people paid 120k usd for an automatic GT 86.... nuts! Years passed by and prices started to settle down a lil bit. 30k, 25k, 20k... Finally after years of wanting one, i could seal a good deal on a Toyota 86 with 50k miles on the dash in pretty good condition overall. The ''dream'' car was mine. i could not believe it. Now i just want to enjoy the car with my loved ones and put a lot of miles on it. It's a car i want to keep forever.
Have 1997 993 turbo same colour with blue interior with a little less than 50k miles …I’m in Canada but it’s a US car …not a very good track car front diff weight etc …I’ve been fortunate haven’t put a dime in repairs since I bought it …it was my dream poster car…I use it to pick up my daughter at school…have2018 GT2RS running on Hoosiers R7’s, only use car on track … but must say not even 1-4 seconds faster on lap times than C6 ZR1 or R35 GTR track edition with aero improvements race seats and belts ,and 2007 wrx sti full race car 620hp …run all cars on Hoosiers …only changes on corvette are obviously the seats, seat belts and steering wheel…the Subaru is the 1 second difference and GTR the 4…
Maybe the older cars are different, but I've missed 4th and hit 2nd multiple times in my 997.2. Just re-engaged the clutch when the RPMs fly up. No motors "zinged".
Dude I was just having this exact thought about window shopping for the 993 turbo and seeing 80k 15 years ago! 😂 Now look at them! Lol I hope you get it some day soon ✊
My friend drives his 996 X50 all the way from Buffalo to get work done at Translog…and there’s a reputable euro performance shop 5 minutes from him lol.
I think if the cars been down twice for so long thanks to its motor you really oughta look into some valve cover breathers to keep the lubrication in check, and maybe find a spare motor, even if its a basket case, just to keep around for parts and or a spare, like the Hemi guys did with Cuda's and the like back in the day as the 993's one of the last the Oil cooled cars, and they aint making them no more
PCA had the instructor checking you out drive your car? I'm an instructor for 3 different clubs (non Porsche) and all of my tests, I went into the passenger seat of the examiner's car.
awesome story, and what a car.. hope you are well sir! you should hear my story of winning a trip to the Ruf Factory and go around the Nurghburghring with stefan roser, Oh, and taking the Yellowbird from the UK to Germany and the very high speed trip that followed...it was epic
If you're letting an inexperienced driver run your car on a track near it's limit you're taking on that risk. Now if it was someone that should have known better and they did an oopsie, I would expect they would offer to take care of it themselves.
@@jgalt99 This is why no one drives my cars. I'll sit in your passenger seat and pass any teaching exam I need to but I'm the only one in my driver's seat.

No way in Hell I'm going to allow someone to drive my car by force in order to receive some kind of certification without making sure they're liable for damage they cause. If it's that important to the certification people, they can provide a car.
Buy a honda weekend / track car. You spend a bit of money and get 500,000 miles out of it. Buy a Porsche you SPEND 500,000 DOLLARS and get maybe 100,000 miles. The honda.. You might have to replace the odometer.. but the engine never quit...
Yeah but a twin turbo aircooled Porsche a built civic are 2 completely different experiences also there’s a 76 930 turbo with 800k miles granted that’s just a guy who’s driving it in normal traffic but still Porsches are a lot more reliable then you think
I love these stories of stretching to buy your dream car and then proving yourself right for years and years.
I agree Ed
There should be a way for viewers to submit stories and if they are good enough maybe they can be featured?
Gotta love an owner who drives a car as intended and does so often. 👊🏼
Guy's getting his money's worth. He paid for the driving experience, he's going to enjoy it as often as he can.
That is also my dream car. Drive and fix drive and fix. Depreciation is irrelevant on this one.
Thanks for the great story Dave! Have a good day everybody!
Imagine getting rid of a 930 Turbo for $31,500. Wish I was the buyer back then!
Don’t we all
I bought my 1983 930 for $20,000 in 2003. Stock original, 43,000 miles, 2 owners.
Much respect to this owner! I love to hear stories like this.
I have the same mindset with my 993 Turbo. Great to see another one out their getting driven and used as intended.
Love the man’s choice of cars, and the passion!
Zinged the motor, love it😂

This was rewarding to watch.
That man loves his Porsche. I hope to see more interviews like this one.
I would love to see an item wear/replace spreadsheet on that well loved 993.
Great story and great storyteller! Nice video and beautiful Porsche!

Did she offer to pay you for the engine damage????
We can all relate to dropping $65,000 on a car sight unseen. Oh to be a kid again. 🙄
Mandating someone else drive your machine, toast the motor, and no protection from the organization is a crock of shit.

$80k in engine rebuilds, costing 3 years drive time...and won't drop 20 bucks to fix an odo gear?
Forcing you to let somebody else drive your car with no recourse if damage happens. Forger that noise!
It's supposed to be you instructing them in their car.
