Thanks for creating this - I can't imagine how much work must have been involved! Very well done.

That was awesome, thank you so much. I am sending this on to a dear friend who I've worked with for the last year and we both love History. I worked at the Palace Hotel untill 2 weeks ago and having watched "The Holiday Isle" video clip on you tube, I have made mental notes of iconic sites and their stories, just because they are so fascinating. Because I worked at the Palace, I am super intrigued about Castle Mona. I don't know what it is but there is something about that building that tickles me and from what I have heard, it seems to be steeped in mystery. (Depends who tells the mystery) I Know. I looked at that Ballroom Dancing venue every day when walking in and thought of the thousands of dancers that were there daily. Now, it's a car park. Thank you for this wonderful labour of love. The visuals are stunning.

I lived at the Castle Mona for 2 years when I was a kid, my parents ran it when the Casino moved from there to the newly opened Palace Casino in 1966

Another fabulous animated trip of a time gone by. You deserve a knighthood for the amount of research to get every piece of detail captured and then the massive amount of hours to create this for us all to enjoy. HUGE thank you (Adele via Chris)

Had no idea the Palace was like that, aside from the Lido having worked there (sitting here right now in the Palace Hotel!). An excellent short short Stu, thanks. Hope it gets the views it deserves.

Sounds fantastic. My parents own the Welbeck Hotel, built in 1894, and all this blows my mind, to know it was around in that time.

@@Buuganeoh wow! I was asleep in my grandmas front room when the ‘new’ Delamere went up shortly after being built 😮 it was very hot, I woke up to flames going past the window! (Windy!). The Welbeck was extremely fortunate not to have been damaged by it!
I’ve shared your YT on the Welbeck Facebook page by the way 🥰

I cannot believe what I am seeing it 's like as though you have brought history alive on the screen. Living on the island and knowing of the history this really shows it of well. Please can you comment on what software you used to make it. Also have you done other places in the world.

Hi, I just concentrate on old Douglas. I have 4 other animations if you search for buugane. Two are based around old Douglas North Quay before they knocked most of it down in the 1930s, there is a ride along the Marine Drive tramway and one on the Douglas cable tram along Victoria Street and Prospect Hill. Characters and animations are done with Reallusion’s iclone and character creator software. The buildings can be made with any 3d software (I use a very old version of Modo bought when it was affordable for hobbyists) and they are textured using Substance Painter. The whole thing is put together using Unreal Engine 5.3 which is free!

It was by an Australian vaudeville singer WIlliam Holt Williams aka Billy Williams. Not only was it about the Isle of Man but was recorded in 1913 which was perfect for this animation. More info at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Williams_(music_hall_performer) which includes a link to a wax disc archive where this came from
