    I planted her bareroot in November 2020, in July 2021 she had already reached a hight of 4´x 4´ and she had produced an abundance of flowers until end of November (the last rose in bloom in 2021). No sight of blackspot the whole time. Yes, you are right this Lady is a statement plant (even though I´m not the biggest fan of the colour orange - my problem) and a workhorse and I love her. Thanks for the review, as always I agree! Stay safe, Hanni.

    I have her planted on either side of the entrance to the front door. I find the scent light and refreshing. I'm in Australia , she is north facing (hot winds in summer) full sun and she is thriving, still has sporadic flowers through winter. I love ❤️ this rose but it's hard not to love most roses.
    Ps I have purple iris at her feet. 💗

    I like having the variety that this rose provides my garden. (I tend toward pink, purples, reds...) This one blooms well as long as I fertilize regularly. Blooms are medium size on mine and the color fades a lot as the blooms age.

    Is it true the Lady of Shallot sold as a climber is the same for shrub, it is just how you prune?
    I bought the “climber” version, but now think I really want to just keep it as a shrub, so wondering if I should return it?
    Thanks for your channel!❤

      Goodness both of those are nasty I have made videos in the past about pest control I’m fully organic so use things like ladybirds and nematodes encouraging birds into the garden and offering them habitat and also looking after your soil feeding your plants with mulch and making sure they are strong and healthy to rebuff attack from insects and disease

I would like to grow in big pots but I can also put them in ground. Since Roald Dalh is not available, would you suggest Lady of Shallot? I find the color orange really good.

      I am about to invest in Morning Mist! Did you get Tottering By Gently? I have it and love it. I am always drawn to the simple, open flowers, partly for the pollinators and partly because I sometimes find that the larger, heavier rose blooms get weighed down when it rains and it does that a lot here. Plus TBG has hips, which I also love, it shows up beautifully in the evening and the name!

      My goodness I’m very glad I don’t have those problems to contend with here in the UK we don’t have very many animals which will attack rose bushes like that but I would think that physical repellents such as the netting you’re using would be the best line of defence

    Hello there...can you please tell me how much growth 'Lady of Shalott will put out before she flowers that first flush?
    If I were to prune her down to 6" from ground level, how tall will the plant get before it flowers?

    • @the_gardenerben
      @the_gardenerben  Год назад

      It will be in excess of 120 to 150 cm tall somewhere between four and 5 feet however, I would say that pruning that harshly is probably a little too much. You almost want to double what are you leaving on? I don’t thrown anything lower than around 12 to 15”, 30 to 45 cm.

    • @Thunderbird68-i2f
      @Thunderbird68-i2f Год назад

      @@the_gardenerben Then you're fortunate indeed because here in zone 4/5 Canada, we haven' any choice since winter dictates how much we prune. Even with winter hilling & protection, it forces us to prune the damaged canes remarkably that low. Just the temperature alone of - 32 Celsius (-25.6 F) is enough to kill tissue substantially. I'm asking because I used to prune Heritage and St. Swithun low to that effect and they vigorously produced 4 - 4.5 ft long canes for their first flush, so it was a dream when they bloomed. Not all Austins will do this, however. So I was wondering about the good 'Lady of Shalott' as I have two of them on order. Thank you. 🌹
