Thanks to you and your book I have conquered the fear of stitching jeans together! I have even used it to teach my 4H students how to stitch perfect jeans! One got best of show at the annual stair fair!
Thanks Johanna! The information on the weight of denim and amounts of lycra is very helpful. It's all very helpful. I have had the fabric (it's even pre-washed) and the pattern for a couple of years now, but it seems overwhelming. I'm an experienced sewer so will have to tackle it soon. Actually, it's the fitting that is causing the procrastination. I have a very flat bottom with no hips and have even considered finding a men's jeans pattern so I don't have to deal with adjustment. Thanks for the inspiration! 👖Bernadette
These are great tips! I had some jeans that kept fading for years. So I don't wear them anymore. Also, I have a pair that has the worst material for the pockets. They are always crumpled and who wants to iron their pockets every time they're washed! Not me. Thank you!! Love those jeans with the shirt material. That's so classy looking.
I use your templates for all jeans be it zippered or button fly. I made mine from tagboard which is perfect and I can easily iron the pieces into shape. Something I learned from a Japanese Altelier. Hard to find but I like and prefer stretch 13-14 ounce weight. 3-5% being the best for me. I've accumulated surgical scars in the past 2 1/2 years. Bigger and baggier jeans still cuts into the scars and is miserable and very painful for me. The extra stretch gives way enough to ease across the waist and hip sides so as to not cause pain.
Hmmm. I have never thought about sewing clothes, but you make it seem so cool! 😂😂😂 Do you think it’s possible to make a pair of jeans with a straight stitch only machine? ❤️❤️ Love your channel!!!!❤
Yes you can as the only stitch you need to sew jeans with is a straight stitch. You do need to finish the edges with an overlocker/surger or a zigzag stitch to stop seams fraying.
The biggest challenge I have ( I’ve sewn for many years) is making buttonholes in fabric that is thick ~ Any suggestions or secrets to accomplish this?

@@AussieTracy ahh that’s cool. I have an overlocker. But I don’t have a zigzag machine.
