Here’s What a High Mileage BMW Z4 looks like after 275,000 miles!

  • I couldn’t bear the thought of a daily without a clutch pedal, and I always wondered how these cars age since my silver 2003 Z4 only has 81,000 miles on it. I don’t like the SMG much but it is a fast option if you’re interested in track racing. But for zipping around town, I could not bear the thought of putting miles on a nice car. So I found a more worn one. I was surprised what shape it is in!

Hi David, a BMW z 4 can run at least twice as many kilometers as you have on it now. It depends on you are not pulling it up on any occasions and driving the revs up to the stop. The BMW six cylinder is a very reliable engine that can live long if you treat it well. The car you bought now, has apparently not been treated well, although the engine sounds very good! greetings from Germany mate

I don’t see any signs of abuse on this car, just neglect with wear and tear. But for the last 1,000 miles of driving it’s been really great! 💪

The fogging up issue can be redeemed quite easily:
Just close the flap that sets the air to "cabin circuliation" manaully and remove the cabel from its motor.
This will set the car to "always external airflow". Almost every older Z4 suffers from that issue (the plastic gears in the flaps are wearing out).
    Two more suggestions:
Get a bluetooth module for the radio (its only 35 bucks here in Europe and I am sure you can get one in the US too)
Get the "M" steering wheel when you replace the worn out one - its so much nicer than the standard steering wheel.

    Got a 2004 z4 3.0i manual with m-sport package, with 130k miles right now.
-muffler delete, no bright tips though unfortunately.
    -My vanity mirrors aren't stuck.
-interior is in way better shape than that car. And I plan on keeping it that way.
-shifter is a little loose, need to change the bushing
-added Bluetooth to the thing, can't stand the radio.
    -have power and heated seats.
-top also works, a little loud though. No leaks.
-got an aux jack but it goes into where the ash tray is.
-The 12v port is kinda loose, but it works.
-replaced the rear springs, worn out and my wheels have way too much camber. Tires were worn to the cord near the inside wall.
-got a useless cellphone button, so that's something.
-My car ticks at times, but once I've changed the oil it stopped. Check the oil. These engines are reliable though.
-wish mine has auto dip mirrors and all the other small conviences.
I would never take a softtop into an auto car wash. Once it starts to leak, you're screwed stuck in there.

At first, I thought blk z4 mileage was very high, because these motors are 300k motors with great manuals, but then realized if that mileage is highway or even half of it ( which, I hear equals 10% of city mileage, in wear and tear); you may have the equivalent of something with 150k to 200k and a lot of life left in it. That very well could be a great deal, congrats!
