HOLD UP!! What's the biggest thing you've made with plarn so far?? I understand that to get something large you need some sort of structural support in place. If anyone has upcycle ideas for structural support that'd be great!
These are really good for making waterproof mats for homeless people. They remain ridiculously lightweight and compact for easy travel. They naturally store air in stitches making them both breathable and insulating for all seasons.
A lady here in Chattanooga uses plarn to crochet mats for the homeless. The mats are waterproof and easy to clean. They help keep someone from sleeping on the bare ground. So many idea for this.
I have always wanted to know how to make yarn out of plastic bags for crocheting! My Great Grandmother used to use plastic bags, and I was super intrigued to know how she did it! So I thank you for making a tutorial! ☺️
i really want to try to team up with a thrift store and see if i can buy old shirts that are going to the trash! i think cotton shirt yarn is amazing!!!!
@@HollyAunayou might want to try your local Goodwill store, if you have one nearby. They accept clothing for recycling that can't be resold (stained or torn etc.).

people can be so mean sometimes when they see someone being themselves and enjoying themselves and i always try to remember when someone is mean it says more about them than it says about me. they're going through somethign and taking it out on you, and it isn't fair but remember its not about you.
I made my hat out of plastic bags, I used 28 pcs of plastic bags from Walmart and 9 hours of labors. But it’s sooo worth it. I’m currently working on with my next plastic bags creation. It’s sooo cool and it saves you some money and helps the earth 🥰.
thank you for this!!! I have saved up so many bags from every time we went to the grocery store, and am now going to make them into reusable shopping bags for friends and family! such a cool way to recycle :)
I used to work as an Editorial Writer for a newspaper that caters to the homeless. (The newspaper is still operational, I moved.) The homeless are hired as employees and on our weekly Thursday meeting they would get so many free papers to sell. The cost of the paper when they sell it is a dollar so it's pure profit for them. They can take some of that money and buy more papers at an extreme discount and then keep selling. I remember one year a church group used plarn and made several bedrolls for them out of it. That was the first time I ever heard of anybody using plastic bags as yarn before. It was really nifty to see. I miss writing for the paper sometimes. But I now live like 5 hours away from there. So it would be a long commute.
Plarn, being used from plastic, makes an amazing insulator. I want to make a corset out of plarn so that when winter comes in my state, I have it to wear under jackets and stuff. I also want to make leg warmers out of it, but it would be a bit heavier, and probably fashioned like assless chaps, just to keep from falling down the legs.
I have the mat before ,but not little bags . Thank you sharing your videos . I made two mats and I give them away to people who did not have a home to live in . I have made rugs out of old T shirts and some rugs , when I live in Maryland .
We have so many baggies from grocery shopping that we mostly use for cat litter and bathroom trash bins, but dang if i might not grab a few and do this! Thank you for sharing!! :D

Thanks for a too the point video, I enjoyed the three methods, I think I like the rotary cutter and mat best. It looked fun, and do I have tons of these bags in my house.😄😊
What I've found is that you want to strength test the loops you're using, especially if you're extruding those knots through really tight holes like nalbinding requires. You may be surprised to find that you can use some loops with holes in them and some loops that seem fine, aren't that strong anyway.
Oh wow! That’s so great!! I have so many gray one’s from Walmart. I like the fold and cut method. Is it hard to crochet since it is double? Now what should I make?
If you take a long strip (single strip) and twist it .... (Like a lot of twisting) and fold it in half, it will spin in on itself and make a strong form of rope or twine
YES! One of my goals this year is to talk to a thrift store or some store and ask about t-shirts that they cant sell and are going to throw away to turn them into yarn!!!!!
I very much love doing this but hate how long it takes to actually make the yarn. I feel like it almost takes more time to cut up the bags and loop the strips together than it takes to actually knit the thing 😂 I want to find a way to expedite this
