  • In 1956, Clinton High School (Clinton, TN) was the first segregated, all-white public school ordered by a federal court to admit African American students following the Supreme Court's 1954 Brown v. Board of Education decision ruling public school segregation unconstitutional. The first twelve black students to enroll that year are known today as the Clinton 12. This video provides a summary of these events supplemented by historical news footage.
This video is part of a larger series of lectures and materials originally created for a lower-division Introduction to Political Science college course (100/101), but is suitable for High School U.S. Government or anyone who wants to learn more about the fundamental concepts of political science and government.
