I would have taken the Challenger hands down. That was the only water cooled v twin you had man...
Challenger. I need performance over some looks.
Challenger! Way ahead of the old Indians...water cooled = horsepower
I’m 5”1 no experience is the chieftain a good first bike?
Personally I would have got rid of the Harley...lol
Amen😂
Harley shmarley, indian is where it's at😎
because you not try Indian
I've ridden both, I would have made the opposite decision. To each his own.
Robert Rohrs yup, if it was my only bike I’d proagree
also need to think how much more that challenger would sell so he could buy a new bike.
Seen my first Challenger the other day and it rocked🤘 pics and videos dont do it justice
I'll keep my Chieftain for now as well. It will be interesting to see where the Challenger line goes a few years down the road. Aesthetically I just love my Chieftain, and love that low end rumble!
Paul Horn yea for sure. It will def be interesting
Paul Horn another reason I kept my tricked out chieftain, but the challenger is the other side of the coin, power, handling, smoother ride, keep your chief , and add a challenger later on.
The ONLY thing in which the 111/116 engine is superior is the sound depart. I'm not an mechanical engineer and I don't understand why push rod engines sound soooooo good. The Challenger sounds great... But the 111 sounds Sick!!!!! Specially with cams.... OMG
I already know. The dark horse chieftain would be my choice
Adam, time to ride the 2020 Triumph Rocket and report on it. Love your videos and keep up the good work
Mark Graham I will add it the list
I would also like to see that!
I fell in love with The Challenger right away. Took it for a test ride. Purchased the bike, brought it home almost 100 miles away from the dealership. After riding it that distance, figured out that bike wasn't for me. Just the ride, and everything wasn't gonna make me happy overtime. Knew I would regret it, so the next day I took it back. I purchased the 2019 Chieftain Limited instead, and so far I'm a happy man.
The Challenger is a damn beauty, I love the way it looks. Handling wasn't bad, ride wasn't bad, but there was just something that wasn't sitting right with me. Today I brought home the Chieftain. For anyone that does purchases the Challenger, don't be discouraged and ride the hell out of that thing. Would love to see lots of them on the road.
Maybe you were sitting on your numb balls that day. Don’t feel bad happens to the best of us.😂
I am torn...i love the looks of a chieftain, but id really like to have that power of the Challenger. Be a win win for me if they would slap the power plus on the chief! Lol
I’d take either bike if someone gave them to me. Otherwise, I’d just buy some Buell heads for my Sporty or new shocks for my FXR. Or a KLX. Then I’d pocket the 20 grand I saved and have some epic motorcycle camping trips.
Just can't compare water cooled to air . two different worlds I'm my opinion
Love the shirts. :) I'm diggin' the pop ups and light humor. I'm guessing that dual sport is coming quicker than we thought ?? :) :)
Thanks for being part of this channel
You will have to wait and see. But your probably right
@@adamsandoval That'll be loads of fun. For you, AND for us...lol You sure are in a great area for it. Cheers. :)
Great comparison. I do understand your personal reasons. The end of this video is more shocking that the end Avengers End Game... Lol well not that drastic but I was really surprised. If you give me a Chieftain AND a Road glide for free I would sell them both and buy the Challenger and load it with the extra money. I have the base model Challenger because it was at the time of purchase what I could afford. I'm glad that Indian decided to give us the same engine, performance, suspension etc and let us decide that "OK locking saddlebags I can live without, smaller speakers with the same 50watts per channel, etc etc."
I have owned 27 motorcycles mostly Touring and Cruisers and IMO the Challenger is the Best bagger ever made PERIOD.
Man - now I'm feeling a little concerned that I have three baggers...actually, not really. LOL Since when does making sense apply to having a few bikes anyway?! :)
Are you selling the challenger or is it going back to Indian?
It still has a factory tag on the tank.....🤔
Great video! Don’t forget about the old War Horse! She still has plenty of miles left in her!👍
Roadmasters have sweet storage compartments in the lowers. Had them in the Harley until they went twin cooled. Love my Roadmaster.
Finally! More Indian, HD long-reviews, too please!
Well since you have so many upgrades done to Chieftain that makes sense.
Dude! You should be giving that thing away!!
The future of Harley is bleak. Indian is in better shape for the future as a whole, because it's part of a larger much more healthier company. Harley is bleeding. The writing is on the wall. They will have to downsize drastically and even then, it still will not stop the inevitable. Fanboys like you are blinded by faith and loyalty to a fault. You'll soon regret your decision.
I had 2 2020’s and a 21 and traded for a roadmaster.
I’ll stick with the roadmaster because the challenger is way to glitchy for me..
Both bikes are awesome as you made clear and for the channel you obviously made the right choice. I’m anxious to see them build a chieftain with the new PP108, and the inverted front end. That would make an exciting choice for buyers.
Dang man! I’ve been gung ho about the the Chieftain. Now I think I want the Challenger now 🤦🏽♂️. They’re both so beautiful 🥺.
The only thing I'd ever drive is a Dyna, Of course I don't drive it motorcycle so....
I'm a H-D guy...But I do like the Chieftain also the Challenger is just too much out there for me. Can't get past the front fairing. I would like to hear what you think about the New 131
Great choice! I personally think the fixed fairing bikes aren’t as good looking as the batwing fairings. Hopefully in the near future Indian will make the Chieftain with a liquid cooled engine, inverted front shocks and Brembos from the factory. If they did, that would be the perfect bike!
I also liked that you mentioned the saddle bags. I thought the old “rounded” bags were ugly compared to the new flatter top ones. Great video and content, keep it up during these trying times.
Agreed
Challenger has a lot more power and features even if you upgrade the Cheiftain to Stage3.
Not really any point to buying the cheiftain unless you like that look.
And neither appeal to me as much as the M8 Softails.
Softails aren't touring bikes, tho
And m8 is not a good engine.
@@Rickybobby1340 So? I said ME, not everyone. ME
@@2bad1 Yes it is.
with a Stage 2 Cam, the M8 114 beats the Challenger engine in power and torque.
I rode both. The challenger is just great. Hands down for me I pick the challenger. But love my Indian Chief dark horse
WildOn2s Vlog 👊🏽💥
Batwing baggers is where it’s at. Good pick.
92hp vs 122 hp air-cooled vs watercooled definitely the Challenger. Love the looks of the Chieftain. Both cost the same.
I hear you but the challenger is boxy lookin chieftain is a nicer looking bike
The challenger seems bulky, while the chieftain has a sleeker look.
Love your videos bro. Just traded in my softtail slim for a chief darkhorse. Best decision I've ever made.
I would have guessed the other bike u would have kept
Thanks for the side by side. Looks like Challenger is way to go, but I like Dark Horse view better. Hmmm,,,,
Good choice Adam, i would prefer the challenger but there is no point if you allready have the road glide.
Roberto Candanosa exactly, I’d rather have a new style bike
My brother made a joke the other day about how he needed to trade his Indiana in for a Harley now with the coronavirus out there. My wife fell for it and asked him why. He said because you know that a Harley can’t catch anything. I will give the handling to Indiana for that mono shock and frame that they have but as for power that M8 is hard to beat. Don’t know what’s out there for that new 108 in that Challenger but I imagine it still wouldn’t touch that 128 kit for our 107s.
Indian's downfall (this time) is lack of dealership networks. Three dealers in all of Georgia. Two in Metro Atlanta and one in Savannah. Wake up, Indian Corp. and give dealers an incentive to carry the brand.
bobberguy1 yes of course, more dealers means a better bike, not. All brands have to grow into a market, their the fresh kid on the block, but look, really modern bikes, lots of features, smooth ride, and lots of power and great looks. Yep, more dealers looks to have just gotten recycled looks, new colors, and higher prices, hey, they have to support all those dealers.
Nothing like the number of HD dealers obviously but I suppose all depends on where you live - I'm in SoCal and have 4 pretty close. There about 200 nationwide in only 7 years of production, it will only get better as long as they keep making these great bikes.
@gozap51 Harley dealers everywhere that have been selling the same exact bike besides some motor changes for 20+ years. They got so big that they don’t actually gaf about the consumer anymore.
Challenger is the ideal model to expand the brand throughout Europe.
Is the Chieftain dark horse is the same bike as the springfield dark horse without the fairing?
I ride 2018 Roadglide special and prefer the fixed fairing but Polaris brand I find the chieftain the winner of these 2 even though IMO they are direct copies of the Harley. The chieftain sounds better and IMO better fit and finish even though they are from the same company
I wish the Challenger has opted to mount the side mirrors on the fairings to make it look even better and contrast it from HD’s Road Glide.
Good choice, all basses covered. 🤘⚡️🤘
I'm leaning toward the Challenger!
I ride a Road Glide special and I have to say that I absolutely love the bike but I've gotten to where I despise every harley dealer on the planet. Either raping you with a $350 oil change or screwing you with tires and if you look at your bike wrong it voids your warranty. I'm thinking seriously about the Indian Challenger.
I would say, go and try it out and your mind will definitely be made up. although I love my Harley, I'm glad I made the challenger an addition to my garage
Thank's Adam, i'm riding in France, and we need another kind of style riding than america. But i buy a Challenger for tourism with my wife and my Chihuahua Mak'Sy and for the work travel every day, i ride my 2011 Victory Cross road. I am very happy with american bike but HD is not design for the europen road; Vistory and Indian Challenger yes. Ride safe and keep you in security. (you speak a litlle to fast for me lol) Thank you for your video, i like this. And sorry for my english, but it 's not my mother language. Force et courage au Etats Unis.
Nice! Thanks for tuning in 👊
Very disappointed with your decision. I think you made a big mistake!
Even though the Challenger has more power and fixed fairing, I am stick with my 2016 Chieftain 116 with the classic styling so I agree with you 👍
I think you need a Gimble for your camera person. I've noticed the last couple of videos, it's quite shaky.
you should let Ashley take over the Challenger. She's been dying to have her own Indian. She deserves to have modern tech, safety and comforts of a 2020 motorcycle. Challenger right now is the best package America has to offer. And She can handle it! ;)
stay Stubborn!
Just bought the 2020 roadmaster darkhorse, I'm happy with my choice best of both worlds :) chieftain/roadmaster
Good review and couldn't go wrong with either one, honestly thought you were going to pick the Challenger. But understand your reasoning. Stay Stubborn....
My favourite bike is the Elite...
I am Blessed enough to have an 18 Chieftain Limited. I Love it. Haven't had the pleasure to ride a Challenger. I Love Indian & what they are doing. Will continue to support the brand. Love the video and everything you do Adam! Awsome as always! Stay Stubborn 😎🤘
Test rode a challenger.... Not for me, I'll keep my Chieftain
Did the challenger have a rattle in the faring? I know a lot of people are complaining about it. New subscriber please write back i want to make a good decision on this bike
I haven't noticed any of that on mine. I'll keep y'all posted on how I feel about it and do a full review sometime soon on my new challenger but here is a video I did on the one I had before the gold one: ruclips.net/video/ZQEHJnyLE3w/видео.html
I will keep my 2019 CVO Street Glide
I never had an issue in high winds on my StreetGlide so im with ya👍
Me either 15 street
So have you guys ever had a fixed fairing?
You could still donate that beautiful Challenger to me
2 bad ass bikes... My only problem is I'm about 20g's short
Stay stubborn brother and your dream will come true 👊
Say what you want about the Challenger , it's a COOL piece of bike
I love mine!
Adam I can’t wait for the adventures this summer. I don’t know what the plan for the challenger is but it would be cool if you can auction it off. Take the proceeds and put it into the camp or donate it. Smart choice as far as the diversity of bikes for the channel, hopefully you’ll find yourself near South Carolina and the wife and I can tag along.
I love Indian's AND Harley's! I already have a Softail Deluxe and am looking to get an Indian sometime down the road. Thanks for comparing these two models!
Erik S Yup bothe great bikes
Ride whatever you want but take dam good care of that beautiful lady by your side bikes will come and go a great woman is once in a lifetime!. Ride safe
Has the 2020 Chieftain been upgraded with the same performance and tech as the Challenger? If not I couldn't see paying the same amount for a lesser bike like the Chieftain. In my mind it would be bang for the buck. I tried to check but their website is not responding as of 0535hrs on 9/15/20.
oh man idk about the website. your beat bet would be to try again
did my video just break the internet? 🤔
@@adamsandoval lmao
And I’ll just keep dreaming of having a motorcycle I really like the look and style of the chieftain but I like the idea of having the fairing attached to the frame I’m only 5’5” but want to ride long distances for the rest of my life and if I could only have one I want all the technology to keep me safe while I ride it like I stole it I have to even it out and let’s go Brandon fjb
Let's go Brandon!!
Adam big question, I need a sissy bar for my 2016 Indian dark horse chief, it’s bagless and I need to carry a backpack to work, but am tired of strapping it to my back. Would like to strap it to a sissy bar. The one on your Indian looks tall enough, where did get, and can you use with solo seat. Any help would be appreciated thx Tim
The sissy bar is just a stick with pad removed.
What does that mean it’s just a stick with pad removed, did you get from Indian a third party like ciro, sorry to keep bothering you but I checked out Indians on website, and they all look short. What something at least as long as yours, if not longer.thx Tim
Love the Chieftain. I'm sure Challenger is faster but that air cooled motor and front fairing look awesome.
Yeah, I like the dark horse as well. Love the bat wing fairing. I ride a street glide and absolutely love that bike. If I gad an Indian dealership reasonably close, I’d take a serious look at one. Stay safe brother.
I think the Challenger is a great bike and no complaints when I rode it. Still keeping my 2019 Dark Horse to me that is one of the prettiest Motors ever made and I am a little old school I get on my bike to get away from technology and the busy of the world. But I said it before and so many have before me ride what you like and what works for you that's all that matters.
That's the beauty of this culture... To each their own 🇺🇸
Feels like U kept the HD to keep the Haters quiet!
Yup.....
I wouldn't say that. If you look at the his Harley's you see he has it customzied and built for him. The Indian motorcycles as far as I know there's none to barely any aftermarket parts so make it yours. You have to truly go to Indian to get things done.
I mean I don't know why keeping junk would shut someone up about junk lol
@@jacobdowney318 there's already stage 1 kits, decat kits, exhaust kits, and ECUs for the challenger.
You look more comfortable on the Chief . Just saying from watching you ride. The other is also nice. Free to ride😎🏍🇺🇸
Harley-Davidson is going to be pissed again
mark adams hey man facts are facts.
@@adamsandoval true
Challenger for me 👍🏼
Adam, when areyou going to test ride and review other makes? Thinking the new Triumph Rocket 3 would be a greatstart for you?
Not a bad idea 👊
I can't make my mind up...
Need a comparison between challanger and roadmaster. How about fixing baggers and accessories of roadmaster in challanger.
🤔 good idea
@@adamsandoval comparison between roadmaster and challanger?
Adam,
Good ta see You.
I want TWO Indians.
I want a Challenger.
I want a Scout Bobber,
...with Apes.
Q & Q+ said, "HELLO."
JS
Damned nice comparison brother! I just cane back from dusting of the winter hibernation dust on my Chieftain Limited. I did the Challenger but dude I’m in my 60’s and a hard core old School Lover. I’ve owned AMF Shovels, and Twin Cam Road Kings.... by far my favorite was the Gilroy Chief I bought new... a sinister all black one that I rode 11 years. But the most well balanced all around Scoot is my Modern Tech Indian. It gets me right in the heart, mind body and soul. Stay safe brother...
Robert Saddle Tramp Evans I can relate!
Mules aren't stubborn. They're thoughtful!
In a perfect world Indian would make a muscle cruiser with the motor from the Challenger (maybe with a supercharger).
Like comparing Navel Oranges with Blood Red Oranges.
Which bars are you running on your Chieftain? Could you also throw the link my way? Thanks!!
I no longer have the chieftain but I did just put some new bars on my challenger that I absolutely love ruclips.net/video/eA07ArjEOdk/видео.html
Sweet bars, but no guesses on the bars that were on your old Chieftain?
I absolutely love the challenger but i'll have the give the win to the Chieftain DH simply because the engine is already a couple years old and seems to be perfected and the Challenger has a new engine, havent seen any problems online with it but i have seen people have had computer issues with the challenger but im sure indian will get a remedy for that super quick. Im going for my Chieftain DH 2019 soon so im pretty excited for that.
Shockingly Indian is not marketing the Challenger. No advertising in commercial television. Polaris made the same mistake with Victory. Harley Davidson on the other hand heavily markets their brand because they are an apparel company more than they are a motorcycle company. You can walk about on most days and see a Harley tee shirt on someone. Makes you want to go out and buy the bike.
Ive got the 2022 Goldwing so i'd take the Cheiftain too. Its a much simpler bike and more classic looks. I already got a long distance tourer i'd want a short ride laid back style the cheiftains the one for me.
Great choice, I like both as well, but I'm old so old school it is , hehe!!
randyer8 world!
That Challenger is awesome. Maybe the best performance bagger touring bike on the market. Sweet ride! You know you are THERE when you can kick the Indian Challenger out of the bed!
I would pick the Chieftain over the Challenger as well but when it came down to my personal decision I ended up leaving Indian for HD. All the things that don't show up on the dyno do matter overall to me and the extra hp in the Challenger simply couldn't take place of that. Also, I just wasn't diggin that front end, tank lines and the ton of cheap looking plastics on the inner fairing.
🤣
Thank you for your excellent advice, bought a new 2020 chieftain and I love it thanks again!!!
thanks awesome! congrats brother! 👊
I take the Harley !!
Of course everyone is going to favor the Challenger.....🍻✌🇺🇸
Michael Barras yup, makes sense
Do you have any rust forming on the fenders of the bikes? I wanted a chieftain till this started being a problem. My uncle and a bunch of peoples front fender rusted and Indian told him it’s normal because of the mileage he n his bike 16000 miles and they will not fix the issue. Because of that I won’t even consider an Indian anymore.
I bet that was a tough choice to make Adam. But I see your logic. Now if you were going to keep the Challenger I would asked you send the Chieftain over to my garage to hold for you. Even thou I am a H-D rider I would have kept the Chieftain if I had to choose.
Like both
I really dig that Challenger.
Adam do you have to give it back to Polaris?just asking cause it’s stock still and you just got it and are getting rid of it regardless of having same fixed fairing bikes.
I'm leaning on getting the dark horse
It just doesn't matter whatever I settle my butt into for the day just happened to be king it could be a Harley it could be an Indian it could be a Suzuki Honda Yamaha just doesn't matter whatever makes you happy that's what King!!!
