Blues never left. It's played all over the country, and has a large audience...always has. It just doesn't get the commercial airtime as all that bubblegum music they play. Glad to see some young talent learning the roots of guitar music in the U.S. By the way, if you ever get a chance, make your way to Clarksdale, Mississippi. Wait until you're 21. All the blues music you can handle!!!
Great Player/Singer and all around great guy. What you see is exactly what you get. He's polite, kind, and respectful. His folks raised one great kid. To those who have not seen him live, I HIGHLY suggest you get some tickets next time he is within 300 miles. You just won't believe your ears!
A little late, I know, but for any who are wondering: yes, standard tuning. The caveat here is that he is tuned to 432. That's why it doesn't sound right if you just copy it verbatim. So capo 5, key of A minor. Tune at 432. Copy his hands (the best we can do at least). You are good to go! :) I hope this helped someone!
I'm 14 and I have to say, this guy is probably the biggest inspiration to me. His playing, singing, writing and feel is just amazing and this man is keeping the blues well alive. He's already a legend in mine and many others eyes.
he has his own way of showing his blues, just because he doesn't sound like Eric Clapton or BB king doesn't make him sound any less blues. its good to hear some change. much love for Bonamassa :)
Boy oh boy! I could listen to his talent all day long! For someone so young, Joe sure as as much sole as the seasoned musicians. I bought the "Royal Albert Hall" DVD...absolutely the best...especially with the full band!!! FABULOUS!!!
I greatly prefer this acoustic version to the one in the album. It has a lot more of a true Steinbeck era feel, like something that really describes what the Okies went through back then. Not to mention that the Gibson here has a near perfect sound for this song. All in all, a good song made better by being simplified.
Jimi Hendrix was chewing gum when he singing and Miles Davis even playing trumpet! Oh, I love Joe Bonamassa. What a kind of a big musical spirit! He was born for the music. And what a handsome man, I get not enough from the drug Bonamassa
I hate it when people write the old cliché comments (such as yours) that he sounds good. No shit he sounds good he's one of the best guitarists on earth right now he would never have a shit tone.
Mr. Bonamassa; you increase brain function, stimulating harmonic vibrations to the nervous system distributing juices to muscles! And does it ever work! I love that guitar, resonates perfectly with your voice. I'm a novice but is that a Martin just curious...year? You amaze me! Thank you! Always!
Magic sound. I can't play the guitar and I definatley can't sing but I can chew gum just as good as Joe so I aint that useless. From the Poster man. Roll on the 16 May.
It's quite simple. He's having a capo on 5th fret (original song in 4th) and in the first verse he is only playing E minor, and in the chorus he is playing some B minor with an E instead of the F sharp, and then shifting to the A major. You're welcome :) In the chorus he is also adding the E on the B string, but is shifting it with the D. Remember all this is with a capo in 5th (or 4th)
I really wish one of genioses down there would listen to three of my songs I have on my page...AND SEND ME A GUITAR PLAYER.FOR GOD SAKES WHATS A MAN HAVE TO DO.
Baby, tender...indecision is tormenting. I'm not undecided about anything except how I could even get close to you. You a sweet baby! Pearl from the most prime oyster could not ever compare to the beauty and luster you exude. Please be safe always & thank you for YOU!

So sweet
Raw talent and zero processing. That's really unusual these days, and I'm thankful we've got someone around like that.

the album version of this sounds so like it belongs in the intro of a movie

I'm thinking the LD is a Shure SM27, the condenser over the soundhole is a SM81, and maybe an SM86? Anyone able to verify this? =/
Steinbeck ftw.
as far as the gum goes, Justin Hayward of the Moody Blues always has gum in his mouth also. ;o}
beautiful Pre-war Gibson, flat wound strings( bluesy sound)
I cant find the tabs for dust bowl anywhere.....
Where, where where can I find the chords for this song?
the secret is the gum!! :D

I like both versions, the studio and the acustic...but I'm kinda partial to the acustic version.
standard tuning with cappo on 5th so it's a minor
Very cool Joe, love the sound ! Who are these 2 idiots that disliked this ? No sense of taste or skill .
Joe's the only guy who can sing like that with gum in his mouth lol

Gi-B...Sonnn.
With chewingum!
Which gibson is this and how much?
That would be a Gibson SJ-200. They retail for about 3000 euros, 3800 dollars or 2750 pounds.
+Laurens Hebberecht this is a custom one, with special saddle ajustment options
Michael Pietzsch and problably a vintage one. Prices goes up
