I love how Tyler played so aggressive. There was something about it that just connected with me. It was bold, different, and confident. A lot of potential in that kid...Not to mention his use of Hybrid picking was impeccable. Lol
Must everything be a competition? These 4 guys are complementing each other with very different styles and intentions, and all four are fabulous. Please enjoy, don't fight. Thanx for uploading.
Hubert Sumlin the LEGEND, Rest in Peace, you were one of a kind. I love this song and video. Great playing, I wish there were just endless hours of this kind of playing..
Me to. Mostly I wish the people here would show him the respect he deserves, like by dropping the Wolf reference and placing him in the front of the billing..
ive listened to alot of hubert's stuff, and i seriously do not think i ever heard him play on a minor blues, at least not to my recollection. Literally everything he ever played with Howlin Wolf for instance were dominant 7th chords. he really is the most unique and self made player out of that bunch.
they all started as kids...and practice all the time. old is how you feel. i'm old enough to have seen the legends live..and young enough to enjoy the new stuff too!! rock on!!
I'm not a guitar player nor a musician but I know what I like. Slow blues always seems to bring out the best and this is certainly an example. There's no place for a musician to hide under layers of other instrumentalists and vocals. Absolutely beautiful and elegant music.
I guess i am the only one who 'Loved it.' Live on stage and JB sang and played well . I enjoyed all the feature solo's as well . Good stuff to my ears !!
What a wonderful moment, and what a fantastic range of ages of players. I feel fortunate to have met Tyler Bryant, who will carry on this wonderful story that is the Blues. LOVE!
Don`t analyse people just kick back and enjoy it for what it is exceptional music olayed by exceptional musicians, everybody takes their style from someone elses influences and likewise they before them, this is beautifully played and a joy to listen to
i met hubert sumlin in a club called blues in the cornfield [silvermoon]in wisconsin 20 plus years ago seen hm play many times.went outside to smoke i see hubert on otherside of the parking lot smoking a tobaco pipe he looks over says i bet what you have is better i said sure sir we sat and talked enjoyed the smoke.we got inside he got on stage and thank me.one of nicest people i have ever met.any the guy can play he doesn't use a pick thought he had 6 fingers on one hand and this a jam session
Angel voice, I never wish ever to feel such deep anguish or torment you display so readily. And these other 'gents must have felt it a time or two. I'm so sorry, but in my mind those lessons can never be stripped from you. Play it, sing it, let it RIP! Thank you humbly, gratefully...crow
That's not how you do it when you've got an old important guy like Hubert, nobody blowing anyone, not head cutting anymore, Joe respected that until 2nd round then he played too much too. Listen to You'll Be Mine from Wolf to hear Hubert, that's playing
I really don't get this white guy ,black guy, pink guy ,purple guy stuff. This is great music celebrating the fantastic musical heritage we have been left. I had the honour of meeting Muddy , the Wolf, Pine top, Hubert and a lot of those Chicago guys back in England in the 60's. Sure they had had a difficult life but they were true gentlemen. Only too happy to show a young white boy a few licks. I am sure they would be happy to know their life work is being carried on. Lets all try to live in peace with respect for one another. ( and play the Blues)
With due respect, I personally believe that they (those Chicago guys) would be absolutely appalled by what this fantastic musical heritage (I agree on that) has been turned into by some people: basically - shtick. contrived. vaudeville. This is no longer the blues, this is elevator blues. But hey, your opinion is just as valid as mine, at least we are alive and still care.
jeff oliva You couldn't be more wrong, guys like Derek Trucks Joe Bonamassa, Gary Clark Jr, Kenny Wayne Shepard and Warren Haynes are doing a excellent job of keeping the blues going and bringing it to the newer generations. Don't be mad because technology finally caught up to us and they are finding new ways to get it out to people. Where at one time you really never got to hear it unless you owned an album or your favorite band covered a blues classic or had to actually attend a concert or blues establishment. These guys are students to the greats and never slander them and do a lot for the music. Joe Bonamassa has a fund that gets instruments to schools who can't afford them in music class called keeping the blues alive.
NAPTOWN NUISANCE Ok, sure. Time will tell how right I am. They are all ball-less. The dark ages of the blues. Weak, mediocre, elevator blues. Badass anti-heroes are what the blues needs, not spineless, pathetic, middle of the road garbage. Time will tell the truth.
jeff oliva Well time has been telling the truth and it has been extremely kind to these artists. They haven't went anywhere and are not going anywhere and have only gotten bigger and better. Believe me the legends who started it all are happy these guys are keeping the blues alive. If they wasn't then Albert King wouldn't have spoke so highly of SRV and played with him, or BB King wouldn't have done shows with Joe Bonamassa. Sorry that that offends you so I guess just take a seat with all the other haters. While we enjoy their music.
jeff oliva Wrong, time has already proved you wrong. Joe bonamassa has already been playing for more than 15 years. Derek trucks was ranked as 14 on rolling stone's list of best guitarists of all time, and he started playing with allman brothers since he was about 10. So time has already proven you wrong. I love the blues, but how are young people gonna be exposed without new technology?
i totally agree with you!!! his vocals are inspiring...thats a guitarist that makes love on stage...thats unusual, a skill so intense it can only come from deep inside...
Joe clearly won if this were a contest but the guy with the pink strat really caught my ear with is fast/aggressive yet emotional phrasing. And his tone is fantastic!!!
After the Pink Strat plays his piece, you can tell Joe is determined to show him up. Joe's solo intensifies quite a bit and he ends it with some fast licks that we don't see from him quite often. Great showing though by all guitarists.
Jeremy McCant That kid is Tyler Bryant, from the Dallas area, now based in Nashville. Check out TB and the Shakedown. He's teamed up with fellow guitarist Graham Whitford- as in Brad('s) from Areosmith son. The kid's are alright. :-)
Who is best is an argument that should be stopped in the respect and perspective we are sharing together. The fact we are here sharing together shows enough.
great tempo!! awesome how @JoeBonamassaTV subtly guides the jam. great break (it only took 1 look). nice to see Hubert Sumlin on stage. awesome intro and solo. impressive
I would definitely agree. I have been playing for almost 6 years now, and it still amazes me that you can have all 4 of those guitar players play the same 6 notes and each and every person will make it sound different. Music is just such a beautiful thing :)
An awesome mix of styles. Hubert and Tyler were definitely the two extremes. Huberts been around for 50 years and has nothing to prove, just doing his thing. Tyler was definitely feeling some pressure and wanted to impress. Then Joe and Jimmy were the relaxed middle ground of awesome.
From around 6:50 : I love how Joe just stands there, and goes; well you think that's something, don't you? let me see you how it's done (and gives an amazing solo) ;p
Kind of cool that Joe was checking the kid out. The kid still has some growing but he played well. Difference of course between Joe and the kid is time on Joe's side and the kid is still finding his way. Joe delivers so well. He is among some of the best. Keep burning it up Joe Bonamassa!!!
Tyler guy just nailed it. I watched Joe just sticked to his corner and he didn't even played rythem, he just listened and his expression was just like "this kid got it, he fucking nailed it" and that was a beauty to watch. Its amazing!!
You haters should watch him in his videos when he is just in the studio and relaxed, his mannerisms are just part of him. As for his singing, I'd like to see you hold a note that long without sounding like a cat caught in a trap. It's a lot harder than you would think!
I just posted something similar in reply to an earlier comment. Too bad he doesn't fit our imagination's vision of a guitar god, let alone a used car salesmen you'd trust. He's not wasting effort on covering up his stringy hair or shiny complexion or practising to smile like Tom Cruise. He's out working. Geez, he's still very young in the game. You're right about the interviews too. He's like an awkward kid who's trying to please and not make a wrong step.
I don't know why I even tried, though, because those types have their rage and my little try to talk sense would not suddenly guide them to the light ! But how can anyone miss such a great body of work for a few personal dislikes? When did music become so visual? I guess I'm old school and still go by sound. You can tell when, about, he did a recording by his voice (my opinion is he has vastly improved) and his music - he has always been great but you can tell if you really listen, plus a little bit more polish. But my yes, what a hard worker! One of my favorite youtube videos is the one with Eric Clapton, have you seen that one? I want it to be played at my funeral. It's great aND it has a fantastic message... .
I have watched the video for Further On Up The Road, if that's the one you mean. I just got back from watching Joe's version of Had To Cry Today. Very aggressive, which is fine, because it's far removed from the original, which I am very attached to. The Blind Faith album has so much spirituality, it surprised me. I take solace from it. Look how many years ago that was and I played it last week in the car and at home. Anyway, this is about JB. Too bad I couldn't possibly justify the close to $200 for his concert last week near me. If I ever won a lottery, I'd be using the money to travel to small clubs around the world to catch guys like Jeff Beck, JB and others I have in mind. Come home to a 2 bedroom bungalow with an attached 2 car, 6 motorcycle garage LOL.
I feel like I have watched this young man growing into his own and it has been very interesting as well as great music ...love the 6 motorcycle garage, Ihope you have the good taste of older and American or maybe even British! I saw tickets that were in the $400 range, am I seeing things ?
It has a similar chord structure to "Since I've been loving you" it is what is called a minor blues. which is a common set of chords used as "the bones" so to speak of a blues song. Hope that helps buddy.
@BoneyardShadow I totally agree, so much feeling and incredible tone out of the Les Paul. I can't believe Joe doesn't even mention him at the end. I love the sounds he gets!
once again, its nt a competition, but a colaboration. this song would not be what it is without anyone of these people missing. music playing is about combanation. Joe is great, but without the bass player and the drums, and the other guitarist, is half joes age. just saying the song would not be nothing without anyone of these players missing, get it
Gotta love the opening of this song. Sooooooo looooooong! How I hate to see you go! I could listen to it over and over. Awesome solo by Tyler, he blew that out of the water!
Insecurity? Blues is all about expressing how you feel, and if distortion and delay are how you express your emotion then that's blues in my book. Loads of great blues players have used pedals, I don't see why it's a problem
As usual,,, white boys hitch a ride on the coattails of a true man of the blues,, and per usual, get it all wrong. If you need to be reminded that Hubert came up with Wolf, then you simply don't get it. If you have such a show as this and give Hubert second billing, then you just don't get it. If you are on the bill and take top billing, then you just don't get it. Miss you Hubert. Bet these guys, ya you Joe, and Guitar center who single handedly wrecked the instrument sales industry, wish they could really get some soul.
Patrick McCarthy 'White boys' have totally taken over the blues, just as soulful, more creative and by far, superior in showmanship and skills! Deal with it Patty my boy! You can't touch the new Blues, no way, no how!
Na man I think you just don't get it, your view of music and art is totally disfigured because of race and how screwed up the world is, music and the blues is a way to get away from the ignorant mindset and stereotypes of the world, music and the blues doesn't have a race, its whats inside you as a person your soul not your skin color, shame a young fella like me is having to explain this to a older fellow like yourself just goes to show, years don't make always make you wiser
jdb89142 Na man, you have NO Idea of my history of music and particularly in Blues! Most of my older Blues was composed of mostly 'blacks', and therefore NOT RACIST!!! They are all still in my collection, and will remain! I did lose some due to the fact that my newer systems did not and would not recognize my .WMF files. They were encrypted, and could not be unencrypted! Although 100% Caucasian, my family came from Tunisia, North Africa, just as AFRICAN as YOU!!!
This is the what the blues was meant to be. Heartfelt and soulful. Bonamassa was on, Bryant is definitely going somewhere, Sumlin was awesome, and Jimmy let it flow through. Gotta know how to play the blues to play anything popular today. Agree?
I love how Tyler played so aggressive. There was something about it that just connected with me. It was bold, different, and confident. A lot of potential in that kid...Not to mention his use of Hybrid picking was impeccable. Lol
Great bluesman, RIP Hubert Sumlin
RIP Hubert. You are one of the most unique, under-rated delta blues man ever.
Me to.

I saw him live and let me tell you...incredible! 💔💋 Great night but the memories not so much!
This is a great video....4 great guitarist on stage....sounds great. But Joe's the man!!
This is why I love blues guitar . . .
Fantastic performance . . .
I'm not a guitar player nor a musician but I know what I like. Slow blues always seems to bring out the best and this is certainly an example. There's no place for a musician to hide under layers of other instrumentalists and vocals. Absolutely beautiful and elegant music.

Great concert. Hubert has the sound. What a tone. Joe is great.

Great performance from all the Musicians on stage!! Jimmy Vivino on The Mike Bloomfield Re-issue Les Paul is ""AWESOME"!!!!!
Tyler Dow Bryant deserves his place on the title !
He was arguably the best
Sam Riley I knowww
And how am I just finding out about him NOW?! I gotta get to more shows!!
Joe's tone is just to die for.... that strat tones were amazing as well
yeah, the Strat cut through really well. Not tinny and trebly so much, a lot of beefiness to his notes. Really fit in well, too.
This whole cast of guitar players are a real awesome setup it's some great together
That groove really sounds a lot like "Since I Been Loving You" by Zeppelin
Tin Pan Alley, Stevie Ray Vaughan
joe is the best thing to come out in over 40 years in my opinion.
The rhythm of this song reminds me "Since I've Been Loving You" especially when the guitar sounds around the 5:35'
yes, I think its the same chord progression
Indeed-Brilliant! This was a great soul pleasure ! ✌️❤️🎸😎
THE AMAZING JOE BONAMASSA ----- ENOUGH SAID !
Music is certainly richer because of these legends
Tyler Bryant blew it out of the water, that man knows how to do it.
That's not how you do it when you've got an old important guy like Hubert, nobody blowing anyone, not head cutting anymore, Joe respected that until 2nd round then he played too much too. Listen to You'll Be Mine from Wolf to hear Hubert, that's playing

The blues is something that gets in your blood.... and takes hold. I love the blues and these gentlemen are fabulous ambassadors !
joe looks like agent Smith from the matrix
i totally agree with you!!! his vocals are inspiring...thats a guitarist that makes love on stage...thats unusual, a skill so intense it can only come from deep inside...
I love how Joe proudly walks up after Tyler Bryant and you can tell he's like.. "okay kid, time for daddy to take over."
Thank you for being the one to say it. Its just too...smooth jazz radio for me. despite the other fine elements.
Joe clearly won if this were a contest but the guy with the pink strat really caught my ear with is fast/aggressive yet emotional phrasing. And his tone is fantastic!!!

Jeremy McCant music it's not a war
Yep Jeremy, even though the kid tends to overplay, his tone never the less is fkg straight up killer.
johnny begood I know man, that's why I said that Joe won if it were to be a contest.
His Voice is ALL Blues!!!.... His playin' is still a LiL 'fast' for true Blues feel!!.... I still LOVE iT !!
my favorite still in 2020
Who is best is an argument that should be stopped in the respect and perspective we are sharing together. The fact we are here sharing together shows enough.
Joe stepping back to show Tyler how its done hahaha just great
great tempo!! awesome how @JoeBonamassaTV subtly guides the jam. great break (it only took 1 look). nice to see Hubert Sumlin on stage. awesome intro and solo. impressive

Blues are just utterly amazing beautiful what a great time to be alive! Thank you much you tube happy holidays to all
Even Hubert liked Tyler's playing... Hangin in there with the Strat among a bunch of killer LP's ain't easy to do!!
la calidad de este video es impresionante, en cuanto a la imágen y en cuanto a los músicos. Gracias por compartirlo, saludos desde Argentina
Still, of this set the best so far is Mr. Sumlin. And the coolest. ;-)
I love all the blues gods..too many to mention. I love them all 😍🎶🎸🎵🎹🎤🎼🎷
I love how Joe stand open-mouthed in shock watching Tyler play.
Looks like he was it itching to get back in to me!
lets hear it for these great musicians - Guitar Center has put together a great event Joe is one of my favorite guitarists of all time
From around 6:50 : I love how Joe just stands there, and goes; well you think that's something, don't you? let me see you how it's done (and gives an amazing solo) ;p

Jimmy V on that Bloomfield Burst. Fantastic!
100% agree with that ... these guys are great they teach me how to get old in a cool way
Tyler Bryant is one tasteful guitarist!!
Tyler guy just nailed it. I watched Joe just sticked to his corner and he didn't even played rythem, he just listened and his expression was just like "this kid got it, he fucking nailed it" and that was a beauty to watch. Its amazing!!
Vous aimez?... je sais!
Moi j'adore!
I'm Still HERE !!! You're Always in My Thoughts! No One Can Make Me Feel The Way YOU DO!
You haters should watch him in his videos when he is just in the studio and relaxed, his mannerisms are just part of him. As for his singing, I'd like to see you hold a note that long without sounding like a cat caught in a trap. It's a lot harder than you would think!
Haters have to hate unfortunate but true. Joe is the bomb. Let those of lesser taste suffer his loss though they know it not.
Respect to all, Tyler Bryant whom I had never heard of was a great surprise hope to see more of him in the future.
Truth is for me, I loved the precision of Joe. But I am learning to like the flaws
R.I.P Mr. Hubert Sumlin. you were such an inspiration to so many of us!
Joe`s voice is amazing
@PBANDSNOW Everything about this performance reeks SIBLY. The lights, the organ, the licks. Still freaking amazing.
Why some solos rememmer me so much the famous solo from the Jimi Page's blues solo "since I've been loving you"?
It has a similar chord structure to "Since I've been loving you" it is what is called a minor blues. which is a common set of chords used as "the bones" so to speak of a blues song. Hope that helps buddy.
DaDaDaDan Yes, thank you :)
+DaDaDaDan It also happens to be in the same key as Since I've Been Loving You.
Same thought here
Yes. He lifted Jimmy Page then polluted it with Eric Johnson nonsense.
All what Joe Bonamassa plays is so exact..... it´s perfect.....SO NICE !!!
Young Tyler hits them a kick in the ass to the three
Tyler Bryant's guitar playing gives me goosebumps...he's incredible.
Hubert rockin the Les Paul Junior!!
He doesnt
***** You're right tho I think they made a two pickup junior at one point. I was just reacting to the shape and faceplate.
RIP Mr Sumlin...........Thank you for your art!
0:40 tribute to page ;)
.
You are very sharp
outstanding blues!!! great tones , great playing ,styles &great Blues!!!
Agent Smith rules.
lmao
He did virtually nothing.
Oh man! Two of my most favorite guitar players!
6:45 ........... !!!!!!!!!!!
I love Hubert playing the LP with p90's.
Great sound
Tyler Dow Bryant stoled the lead he was awesome
Blues is a natural sound. It is giving 2 us a way to understand n xplain what we Got insinde......blues is a gift
that bloomfield though
Joe's tone is always so singular, instantly recognizable
I'm going to have to file a complaint with Gibson. My LP doesn't have those notes that JB can pull out of his.
Thank you, He's amazing!
Since I've Been Loving You homage @ 7:32
that's right dude. it's even more than homage. it's the thing itself.
This made so happy, good to know we have something to look forward too in the future.
6:17 Joe's face lol
wow is right, everyone is great on this that young guy is something, love to watch and hear joe, will be going to my second live concert in march.
5:59+ solo, OH MY GOD! :))) even Joe is like "holy shit that's good"
@BoneyardShadow
I totally agree, so much feeling and incredible tone out of the Les Paul.
Awesome solo by Tyler, he blew that out of the water!
holy fuck, Joe makes everyone look like an amateur!
Aaron M he is no where near the legend of Hubert Sumlin.
Aaron M Don't worry little guy you will learn, maybe.
if not for hubert, joe wouldn't be joe.
Blake Wright FUCK hubert
I agree. It just makes him look stupid. This isn't Hubert's best video, but even Joe B has paid homage to Hubert in the past.
I'm from east texas I don't live to far away from honey Grove Tyler home seen him play alot over the years. great guy and a great guitar player
distortion and delay for blues? somebody has insecurity problems.
I hate it too. Blues needs overdrive and reverb, nothing else!
Insecurity? Blues is all about expressing how you feel, and if distortion and delay are how you express your emotion then that's blues in my book. Loads of great blues players have used pedals, I don't see why it's a problem
lokotron1 I'm pretty sure rockstars can do what they please. Mr. insecure
Danke...so höhrts sich der Blues von heute an....super....
I appreciate the talent that is displayed in this video but I feel like there was definitely some over playing. Just my opinion.
These Combi Player, give me Chill on my spine; when I am down always go play this one,,Lift my sipirit !! Thank you.
Patrick McCarthy No doubt there are original artists that inspired many of Beth and Joe's versions, but theirs are the very best, period!
James Preston Thomas My comment wasn't towards you, it was towards Patrick McCarthy ,
This is the what the blues was meant to be. Heartfelt and soulful. Bonamassa was on, Bryant is definitely going somewhere, Sumlin was awesome, and Jimmy let it flow through. Gotta know how to play the blues to play anything popular today. Agree?
