Exactly how the iPad should be used. Not as a replacement, but as a complementary device. I’m also a student buying it for my last year of high school and into college. Should last a while and I love the display.
THat anker charger is excellent for the large MBPs too. It'll charge at a full 140W. Anker also makes some small bricks that are better than the apple one if you're just looking to spend money. THey're much faster and probably less expensive.
I got the iPad 11 Inch (M4) as a laptop replacement. It is just what I need for viewing content and just typing things up for projects. I got the iPad to replace my 2019 MacBook Pro (the intel one with the heating issue)
Finally someone using iPad as a tablet👍 & not trying to replace laptop 🤣 which many other RUclipsrs say. I wish more people watch this video & understand the actual use of a tablet.
Finally someone who doesn’t praise paperlike like it’s some magical piece which transforms your iPad into something completely different. As you said, it helps a bit by adding friction but it DOESN’T feel like actual paper.
I've been an Apple fan boy since the pre OS X days and I finally bought my first iPad today (for myself anyway, I've purchased 2 for my wife in the past). And it is a 11 inch M4 iPad Pro as I do have a Mac Mini at home and my work provides a M1 MacBook Pro. I have started out modestly as well with a Pencil Pro and an inexpensive stand is on the way. I have an even older Mac Bluetooth keyboard I plan to pair with it when a keyboard is needed. I actually didn't know that a mouse would work with an iPad. I'm pretty sure I can find a Bluetooth Mighty Mouse that's not being used somewhere in the office. The OLED panel truly is gorgeous.
Bro pls clean those two black little stains on the wall next to your tv, I’ve been rubbing my iPad screen like crazy for the past 7 minutes, thinking it’s on the glass. Or it’s the lens. Just clean both.
I got the Pitaka magnetic folio case, which is a bit better than the apple one in my opinion. Firstly it looks really cool and you can fold it in different ways for different viewing angles (kinda feels like origami to me lol). It’s not as good as the apple Smart Folio when it comes to the variety of angles you can set it to but I like the design more and it’s about 20 bucks cheaper I believe. The biggest plus for me though is the flap which secures the Apple Pencil. It’s also magnetic and in contrast to many other cases with a flap it actually sits flat on the iPad even when your Apple Pencil is not attached to your iPad. I can’t tell how durable it is by now, I just got it a few days ago but I think the PU-leather is gonna hold up pretty well over time (I hope so anyways).
Love my ZUGU case for all the same reasons you like the Apple case PLUS more. It is super slim, lies flat for using as a notepad, offers better protection, it has a much more stable pencil holder (two options actually), and includes multiple angles of stand with no extra bulk …it is even magnetic if you want to stick the whole iPad to something. I’ve used one for years now and still holding up well.
I've had issues with hotel charging ports not holding my plugs as well. That anker hub is super clutch. I have a bulkier verison, but might consider that flatter one as well.
I recently picked up the Nedrelow Magic Sleeve for my 11” M4 iPad…I am loving it. Serves as a travel case, Table top mat, and Mouse pad and feels amazing…..it has magnets around the edges so it folds in half with the iPad inside. I also opted for the ESR Armorlite screen protector, which is working out very well for me. Thanks for the great recommendations….I will likely try out the Anker Prime as I hate the outlets in the Hotels I stay in….
I would recommend just getting AppleCare and not running a screen protector, I’ve tried 2 (tempered glass and matte) and the display was always noticeably worse for it. The displays on these new iPads are amazing, like jaw droppingly amazing, and really the only reason to upgrade from an m1 or 2. You’re doing yourself a great disservice by using a screen protector if you are an indoor ipad user imo. If you always use your iPads in bright environments I totally get using matte though as that’s obviously its main selling point. Same for artists with paperlike etc, but you already spent well over $1000 for it so why just spend the extra $79 to enjoy your device to its fullest? I am kind of a casual so take my opinion lightly, I just recently got one of these to learn video editing on the go and still can’t get over how good the display is.
I agree, I don’t need my iPad Air 5 to be a laptop since I have my MacBook Air M1, however since my iPad is more portable I would have a Bluetooth keyboard and a mouse on the side if I ever need it.
I’ve said it once I’ll say it again. The problem with the iPad isn’t the iPad it’s Apple’s marketing. The iPad Pro is basically marketed as a 2-in-1 and a drawing tablet
Great Video -- I just clicked to this from the "YOU Should Buy the M4 iPad Pro, And Here's Why!" -- I am so torn between the 13" and the 11" - I had the 12.9 and found it too heavy to use in "tablet mode" . Do you find the 11" large enough to multi-task? - I would be using it with 1 screen on websites/pdf and the note taking app on the other window, side by side. I liked the real estate of the 12.9 just wish it was lighter. I normally use my Mini for most content consumption (RUclips, reading etc.) but want to use it more for Productivity. - was so disappointed with IOS 18. I dont need an MAC OS replacement per se but better file management would have helped. In any case - I appreciate your vides - Thank you
I picked up the 13” M4 Pro, predecessor was the First Gen 12.? iPad Pro. By itself the M4 is much lighter, could easily carry it all day long. Definitely want the bigger screen for multitasking, maybe some day Apple will have the 16”, 18”, or 21” iPad Pro, and I can have three to four apps open and visible.
Hi Gary, great vid with helpful info. I agree that the 11" is a good sweet spot. I have a question about the Apple Magic Keyboard with Touch ID. Have you tried the fingerprint reader to unlock either the iPad Pro or the iPad mini (6)? I was just wondering because I have the Apple Magic Keyboard with lock key.
The new Otterbox statement case is surprisingly good. I was skeptical that it couldn’t compare to the Logitech combo touch case but I wasn’t thrilled by the integrated keyboard and this year’s material change. Keyboard cases on the 11” can feel a bit cramped, so I plan on pairing my iPad with a Nuphy keyboard and Logitech MX Master. I’ve used Paperlike screen protectors in the past; this year I’m trying out the ESR armorite for average usage (viewing content on a glossy OLED) and situationally applying the Pentips PenMat 2 for times when a textured matte finish is preferred. I have other assorted accessories I’ve gathered over the years to transition to an iPad-only lifestyle but my comment already turned into a yap session.
LOL. Such on point with the hotel plugs. Seems like they are all over used and stretched out or they are the cheapest plugs that could be purchased. Unless it is a decent 3 prong, all 2 prong plugs end up on the floor.
The 11" is the only one that has ever made sense to me. I have a MacBook Pro and until they are effectively the same, portability trumps screen size (for me)
It def has it's uses for different people. I like the bigger screen personally because I am a musician, but I am also a student so I take notes and like my music to be bigger t han the regular 11 inch so I upgraded and couldn't be happier.
Great video! I am going to order the tomtoc case for sure, and am heavily considering the stand you showed as well - although someone said in its reviews that it didn’t work with an iPad that was in a Smart Folio, and I own the Smart Folio for my m4 11 inch.. So I’m wondering about that. Also, do you think it’s okay to use a glass screen protector with the Smart Folio? I was worried that doing so could put pressure on the screen while the folio is closed. Thanks again for the video!
THANK YOU!!! I watched then decided to return my iPad Magic Keyboard immediately. I love the 11" size, but I hate the cramped keypads so much. After seeing your video, my mind is made!
I get the allure of the Magic Keyboard but I went with a NuPhy Air75 v2 (with "Moss" tactile switches) instead and it's been an amazing experience. I kind of wish I'd gone with the Air60 v2 for a bit better portability but c'est la vie. I can't recommend the NuFolio v3 however, it kind of sucks. ETA: Oh, and co2CREA makes a great hard case for the MX Anywhere 3(S) if you don't already have something for it.
@@speedracer87 yeah, i think it depends on the use case. I had the 13, but with how I used it, it was kind of inconvenient for me. I ended up trading for an 11
probably not. the 13 is like having a full sheet of paper, and that is importance to me. Plus you can use the full size keyboard with the 13. I rarely used my 11 because it the iPhone max is big enough for most things that I would use an 11 for.
Ah, Amazon… where I get lost in the rabbit hole… I just found a decent cheap smartwatch there that is pretty good. Granted it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles as other brands. I picked up a 47mm wyze watch. That brand that makes cameras, lights, and other home devices.
2nd trip to Apple Store - the nano texture screen has the same glass surface as the original when moving the pencil pro across it, but the lower layers of the screen reduce the glare so that is easier to view in sunlight. Great resolution on both. You can see the bezel is glossy on both. I have not compared the features of the pencil pro to the pencil on the new iPad Pro.
Mine didnt work sent it back. Im sticking to the 6 generation. 2 tb. Its not bigger practical to the other, but i tried and called apple. I think the 6 generation is the best
The folio for this one is garbage. Upgraded from my M2 11” iPad Pro to the M4 purely for screen. They widened the middle panel, and it now has a more downward tilt when flapped back. Used to hold on my laptop like this to watch stuff, now it doesn’t work. Pencil pro is a worthless upgrade as I used pencil 2 for highlighting text. Glad they obsoleted a perfectly fine pencil 2, forcing me to pay $130 for a highlighter that seems exactly the same. Disagree with that textured screen protector. It is very matte, and reduces screen quality. It literally makes the screen look worse than the old lcd screens. If using that screen protector, just save money and get an iPad Air, or the M2 iPad Pro. I am more trustworthy than these RUclipsrs as I spent $1300 of my own cold hard cash on this, and have the older model as well. Wish I could get sponsored handouts.
No one’s forcing you to buy anything. If you are concerned about saving money, maybe don’t upgrade from M2 to M4 purely for the OLED screen OR do some research first to know what you’re getting yourself into if you plan to upgrade (IE: know in advance that your original Apple Pencil isn’t compatible with the new model)
I can't believe a youtube reviewer would use such an abnormal odd fitting screen protector. I don't use any on my iPhone and iPad and they look great even after few years.

I completely agree with you, I use the iPad to complement my MacBook Pro, not replace it.
That's why I like the smaller iPad, the bigger the iPad the more I want it to be a computer.
Me too. They are both tools to make my work of watching everything on Netflix, Disney, Hulu, and Prime achievable….
