However, the Russians are not going all-out. In fact, they are restraining themselves, which will rise their casualties for sure. That and the fact that they gave weapons to civilians, is a huge problem for Russia: you no longer know who is a civilian, and you have to be careful with civilians... What Ukraine is doing on the other hand, is all-out kamikaze. They are rising Russian casualties, but also endangering the lives of civilians. That's a questionable move at best...

    Surprised they haven’t used MLRS fires as much as it was expected along with EW and such but I guess it can be to a number of factors such as 🇷🇺 wanting to keep colateral damage including civilian casualties to a minimum or also because the 🇺🇦 military dispersed itself as to avoid devastating losses too early on. I think the moral of the Ukraine troops are extremely high, not only are they fighting for their homeland, they do also have extremely bad experiences with the Soviet Union and Russian control of their country. It is pretty clear that many of their troops will rather die fighting than give up. While the Russian speaking side have sympathies for Russia, west Ukraine is quite the opposite. Ukrainians are a proud people, this will be a long mess for Russia if they succeed taking over the institutions. It will be much like the situation in Iraq or Chechnya with guerilla troops and hidden remnants making ambushes for years to come.
    At this point, the only methods Putin have left to win is to big in heavier and more modern weapons, as casualties are piling up for the old T-72 stuff they are using. It also seems like that he doesn't have the full support of the Duma, which means that he might be on borrowed time, and needs to win this war very quickly. Politically this war has cost too much as they are loosing access to the Mediterranean even for trade ships, as both Turkey and France are excusing detainment of such vessels with the sanctions against Russia, meaning that they are effectively experiencing a full Navy blockade in their most vital ports. Similar events might also happen in the Baltic Sea.
    This is a huge misstep for Russia, and will end in a military build up on their border nations. Neutral nations such as Sweden, Norway and Finland will seriously consider full membership of Nato, while expanding their military budgets. Considering that there is already a big export of Swedish produced NLAWs rolling in to Ukrainian airfields, it is pretty clear what rest of Europe feels about Russia's invasion, and that is "Go, f..ck yourselves".

      @@bennelong8451 You see Scandinavian nations have been neutral during the cold war, not taking steps to provoke the USSR, while Denmark and Norway technically were members from the start, they couldn't count on official US help in case of a war with USSR. This was because both countries unique position. One sharing borders with USSR in Finnmark and one blocking the narrow strait.
      Finland was under the peace agreement with USSR at the time and was forced to buy soviet weapons. Sweden just remained neutral because of the successful policies during WW2.
      So yes, Norway has been seeking a policy of neutrality in most cases when concerning Russia, the same goes for Denmark. I admit, that I screwed up writing Norway up as a non-member nation, but what I meant is that Norway didn't allow permanent foreign troops on it soil as a part of it's neutrality. A policy that they with high likelihood will change, as Denmark will be a hub for NATO forces to deploy in the Baltic region (recent policy change as well).

Hell - there was a whole Russian platoon who straight up walked up to the Ukrainians and surrendered today because apparently they didn't know they were there to invade.
    Not to mention - the plans Putin has for supporters of the 2014 revolution are frankly fucking crimes against humanity - Ukrainians are going to fight like hell it seems to avoid that fate. Russia's performance is subpar just like it was even against Georgia in 2008 and this was totally expected. They have suffered massive losses already and they are unable to even gain air superiority. Only a fraction of its military is up to date, and even the most up to date system fall 20 to 25 years behind the western counterparts. Russia is also economically small country, it's GPD is size of Italy and per capita it's even worse, so Putin's expectations and fantasies about being a super power do not meet with reality.

    It’s still early in this conflict/war but it already seems Russia is having problems, there is confirmed reports of Ukraine shooting down Ka And other types of helicopters, including destroying tanks and many armored vehicles and have done some air to ground attacks with Ukraine’s MiG-29’s. Again it’s still early but it seems Ukraine isn’t playing around and is making it very difficult for Russia the military. As me making this comment there is reports and footage of Ukraine shooting down a Cruise missile or a Russian bomber, so Ukraine is doing its absolute best to defend its country. God bless Ukraine and the Ukrainian People 🇺🇦.

      Yea as of right now Ukraine has been doing a lot of damage to Russian forces, there is a Ukrainian Fighter who has 6 confirmed kills on Russian jets and unconfirmed possibility a 7th kill as we speak. Ukraine also has probably shot down a Tu-160 loaded with ordinance in Ukrainian airspace and the Ukrainian airforce has been doing air to ground attacks on Russian fighters, they also have shot down multiple fighter jets including multiple Ka attack helicopters as well as other Russian helicopters in general. I honestly believe Russia has underestimated the Ukrainian military and again it’s still very early in this conflict but right now the Ukrainian military isn’t sitting around, they’re actively dealing some serious damage to Russian forces.

      Oh yes, ukraine is holding pretty strong, but i would not overestaminate russian losses given two things - 1st its huge scale operation we have not seen for some time and its NOT against militants armed with toyota trucks and 50cals at most. 2nd - most of the helicopter losses happened during risky atempt to cut Kyjev from the west deploying troops deep ahead in to the ukraine controlled teritory so i would guess these losses were expected. But still, im pretty surprised how is UA army holding the russians off on the easter front, shame front is pretty much collapsing as we speak everywhere else.

    • @lawmanjed
      @lawmanjed 2 года назад +1

      @@shadybanana6553 - It's probably not the best strategy, but there is precedent. During the Napoleonic wars Russia had to abandon Moscow to Napoleon, and in fact burned down the majority of the city, leaving Napoleons army with little supplies in the middle of winter. He was eventually forced to retreat and suffered many losses on the march back to France. That supply issue wouldn't happen here to Russia in this war however. Another example would be the British burning Washington DC during War of 1812. Clearly that did not put an end to the United States as a fighting force, let alone as a country.

    Just a guess, but, the “hat” they put on the tanks might not be armour. If the javelin and whatever the Swedish one is called use ML pattern recognition (don’t know if they do) to explode over the hatch, they might just need to make the hatch to not look like a hatch from above. If it works they have acquired and or stolen examples to test with. There are ways around this, but I doubt they could update the software in time.
