  • No strange impressions in this episode, just Rob running the customer request line. Here Rob shows step by step how to create a custom library, publish it to the Content Center, and utilize the new content in Frame Generator. A couple of bonus tips along the way, with of course a few laughs here and there. Rob again entertains while informing in this very useful tip. If you have a request or a suggestion for Rob, submit it on his channel at / robcohee .

Thanks for the tip on constraint inference!! It's been killing me that I couldn't figure it out.

@HydroDynamicBuggy You should be able to edit the "Family Table" through the Content Center Editor under the "Tools" or "Manage Tab" (depending on what you're looking at in inventor). Just right click the family, left click Family Table, Right click on the left side where the rows are numbered and add a row. Give it the desired properties and click Publish. If done correctly, it will become a new option in FG.

How would I make a smaller size than what is shown in the designation list?
    Smallest shown is 2x2x3/16
    I need 1.5x1.5x3/16

Will this particular member not fail if the frame member is placed on an arc?

Intresting Topic , can you show how you do the same for tube&pipe , creating new library from parts i already created before (fittings) that aren't available at the content center ?

I don't have these options. "Create Library..." isn't there on my screen.
All I have is "Library Transfer Guide..." & "Update Tool..."
I was thinking this may be some kind of content center administrator privileges thing, but I Have all the administrative rights that I can possibly have.
    PLEASE HELP!

    Hi,
Great tutorial! Super informative and straight to the point. Hope you can help me with my issue:
I am looking to modify the content center part library to create 4x2x1/8 (in) rectangular tube. I was able to customize it all, but once I begin to run the analysis, Inventor fails and tells me that "Torsional Section Modulus is zero!" I tried changing it with the beam calculator and tried looking into parameters, but I can't seem to get it working.
Please help! I would be very appreciative!

    Hi Rob.
    Great tutorial.
I'd like to add a whole new family to the frame generator. I use a lot of structural aluminum profiles in my designs, I use Bosch Rexroth 3D templates.
In this example you used an existing component and made a new one that's REALLY similar to the base one. In my case ,there's no existing component that's similar to the profiles I need.
    How do I do this???

@zarbak2 I wouldn't use Frame Generator for Tube and Pipe. Autodesk Inventor has a Tube and Pipe environment that works similar to FG, but pulls from a different set of components specifically designed for tube and pipe. We have both rigid and flexible pips, it all depends on the desired outcome. Go to my channel and search for Routed Systems. You'll see a demonstration of that functionality.
