Our two sons (age 11 and turning 9) decided to sign up for lacrosse. My wife and I know very little about the sport. Really great video. We enjoyed it and so did our sons. Helpful.

Thanks for the video Jake! The closest I have ever come to playing lacrosse was getting hit by a lacrosse ball once when walking to soccer practice. My son’s first practice is this week and this video is just what I was looking for.

This is very helpful. Tomorrow is my grandson's first game. I thought I knew nothing about the sport, but it seems similar to hockey in many ways. I followed pro and amateur hockey in my youth. I'll watch your video a couple more times just to be sure, but I think I've got it. Have a fun day.

Great video, but, as intended, very basic information for the more advanced lacrosse fans. I would like to see some clarifications on some of the controversial calls that are always argued, like a legal check versus slash, what defines "hit from behind", cross checking, etc. Seems referees have a wide variance of what is legal and what is not. Thank you for the video. I can send to my Mother-in-law who is learning the game.

Hey, I just joined a lacrosse team and I kinda need some help on what my position does (midfielder). You have any suggestions? If so that would be great.
Overall, a good video! Next level could/should include more detail on the types of penalties/fouls (Technical vs. Personal Fouls) and how they are adjudicated. I am a USA Lacrosse certified official in the Central Texas Lacrosse Officials Association (Austin, TX) and would be willing to discuss.

I’m a hockey fan but the closest rink is like an hour and a half away or so I play soccer but kinda feel like playing another sport and since I can’t play hockey might as well try lacrosse so I’m looking at videos on how to play cause I’ve never watched it before

What are some decent good gear for beginners to lacrosse?
Yo Idk if you’ll see this but I was wondering what that circle and half circle thing is near the crease. Like is it for a different age group or gender?
I think a very important rule that I had no idea existed was being able to hit someone from behind to stop possession, basically if its a fast break your sliding up field to a guy infront of cage and he does not have the ball in his stick but the ball is in air traveling clearly to him if your on his backside it does not matter. Obviously the limitations are it depends on how hard you hit him but its relatively fair game considering refs “SHOULD”understand you don’t have any other options.
My 14yo daughter is interested in playing Lacrosse next year in high school. I was thinking about buying a couple sticks and a ball to get her used to throwing and catching. But not knowing if she would be a defender (long stick) vs an attacker (shorter stick), which would you recommend I buy? I would think it would make a big difference if she got used to throwing/catching with a short stick but then became a defender and had to throw/catch with a longer stick. Thoughts?
i would buy two used ones so she can learn and get a feel, most likely she will "click" with a certain style over time and at that point you buy her a nice brand new one
I will mention that offside no longer works as explained, instead a maximum of 7 players on the defensive side and 6 players on the offensive side INCLUDING THE PLAYER IN THE BOX are allowed with a maximum of 10

So I have a question I’m fairly new to lacrosse and still haven’t gotten a definite answer When you’re playing defense are you allowed to push them back without putting your hand together?
Good question! You are not allowed to push with your hands spread apart - they have to be together. And you can't push from behind - you have to push from in front!

@@Muffledbox it's OK if it's not super blatant, so just don't push somebody down like that. The refs are not super strict about that rule

I'm really wanting to join lacrosse going into my sophomore year of high school, I was too scared to do it my freshman year. my high school doesn't have a girls lacrosse team because there is not enough girls for a team. My friend and I are going to try to join together, neither of us have ever played before but we really want to. So if you have any tips that might help me in any way I would love to hear them!

Im a new lacrosse player and I just want to know. If I do a bunch of mistakes in a game or mess up will I get taken out the team or what will happen. (Im not in a competitive im in a normal)
Lmao you are not gonna get kicked off your team. Based on this messsge I’m assuming you’re a young kid. Just go have fun and be confident. It’s ok to mess up.
I started Practice and i started getting the ball but people hit me in the stomach really hard

I know I am late but I was convinced by one of my friends who plays lacrosse to join. My main question is how hard can it be to get the hang of it the only other contract sport I played is football.
football players get the hang of it quickly as long as you hit the wall

@@Rehan-sl5fj it all really depends on your physique and skill, its really easy to get into, when I first started I was like a 5,2 90 pound kid who hadn't touched a sport at all, I struggled a bit, but with hitting the ball on the wall, the game gets significantlyy easier, the hardest part of getting into the game after that is probably contact which if you get some strength up, will be relatively a breeze, you got this
@@akul2986 thank you, after buying a stick I can cradle, pass, and scoop fairly decent. doing some wall ball will also help. also, if I were to play midfielder would I deal with contact less?
@@Rehan-sl5fj contact is the same for everyone, but like the contact pain level would differ, D poles are more on attack men and they hurt the most, but shortsticks are mostly on middies so might hurt the least, but sometimes these positions switch up so sometimes its D pole on Midde action, Middie is also a pretty exhuaistve position so contact pain levels would feel a bit exaggerated ig

that's field lacrosse, there's two different types of lacrosse. Field and box and they are not the same at all.
