  • This video is about the tricks I use to try and figure out if an antique decanter stopper is the right one. As the premise is that you don't know about the decanter being looked at, no references were used.

Very informative, thank you Kevin. The georgain decanter with the slightly oversized mushroom stoper.....you point out the slightly polished (wear) ring mid way along the ground plug corresponding to a similar ring in the neck of the decanter....could it not be that the stopper was replaced many years ago, resulting in this detail? Lost the aidio to the examination of the final 2 decanters....assume it was considering the colour of the glass?

Thanks for that. I had to produce a lot of videos as I’m away on holiday. Think this is an important one, so I will fix it when I get home.

Very instructive and entertaining. I laughed when you produced the twin decanter with the pointy stoppers with such perfect timing
When you see very big number i.e. in the 100's does this mean that they were part of a long manufacturing run ?
Please, tell us about the great press you now have behind you .

Hi, it’s more like a giant court cupboard, it’s almost 300 years old, but was cheap because it’s been bodged I bit over the years.
