Finally, an honest review. This review shows what can and will go wrong. The guy butted in, and I think it made her a little embarrassed. I just bought a Dedica Arte today. My 2-year-old Dedica decided it didn't want to make coffee anymore. I have found that blending your grind from a fine to a less fine grind flows smoothly. After using the steamer, you can instantly go back to the coffee buttons instead of turning them off and back on again, which was a pain. Getting a $100 knocked off was also a good buy. Remember not to go too fine with your grind.
I like this it's like you're learning from real people not really polished cameraman's hand is in the frame most of the time and she is just too real Lol 🤣😆🤣
Over tamping seems to be a thing on my work setup. We have a Rocket and a Niche grinder all set up and dosed properly. If I over tamp it definitely doesn't flow properly. A firm but fair tamp produces a beautiful espresso. Not saying thats what you had here but its what weve found on our setup
You need a consistent tamp, don't vary it. Just tamp until the puck is compressed and stops moving, you don't need 10kg of force, you just need consistency
🤣🤣🤣 "They put an e at the end of the word" That's because De Longhi is an italian brand. They didn't do this for fancy reasons, they use the italian word for what's "art" in english. The italian word is actually "arte".
I have been told what my problem is. I am used to coffee in a 500-750 mil mug, so i need more shots. This machine looks/sounds brilliant, but i will stick with my beginners one. Thanks for the advice offered
After having the Arte 885 for 3 weeks, 18 grams is not realistic in the 51 mm portafilter, you will need a basket screen if you try that, depending on the bean try 11-14 g... also the steam wand has to purge steam to drop the temp to reset to make your shot, can take over a minute, I shut the machine off & it restarts for the pour.
@@pelozas9718 I heard from many that out of the box baskets with two bottoms are bad if you are trying to get really good espresso. There are bottomless portfilter with the simple basket. You can search videos at RUclips by typing "delonghi dedica mod".
Regularly use around 16.5g to 18g with an open basket. Grinder is important. With a nice grinder 18g is no issue with open basket. Very happy with results using Baratza Encore. Spent more on the grinder that the Dedica! Nice little cheat is to move to steam for around 4 seconds prior to shot to increase shot temp.
I just discovered your channel, looking for espresso maker reviews. I can't believe her name is Wendy.. as in Wendy Byrd if any of you have watched the show Ozark. The resemblance is scary, even her voice. I think they stole her character for the show!
Check out the Baratza Encore ESP or Encore! These grinders are great for new home espresso setups, with a nice grind consistency and a good range of grind settings. Is the boiler made of STAINLESS STEEL? Is 15 Bar enough pressure? Is MORE PRESSURE - better? Do you need a HIGHER pressure to brew a FINE GRIND than a COARSE one? Shouldn't you be able to make a LONG BREW with ANY GRIND of coffee?
Don’t know if you’ve figured it out by now but, no more pressure is not better. To make good espresso you’d want to be in the 9bar area. and the machine although stated on the box does not produce 15bars. When it all comes to it it is the resistance of the coffee puck/basket that determines the pressure. The 15bars stated are simply the max the pump can prudence if the machine is absolutely clogged up but normally you will get around 10-12.5 bars out of this machine depending on the grind size, tamping and the basket you use
@@alinaqirizvi1441 Since I wrote the above, I have bought the Cafelat Robot manual espresso machine and I know exactly how to make espresso with the proper crema. 😉
So it is like a mid level ish machine. I have one and love it. So as far as the beans go. The darker roast beans tend to be oily. The lighter not so much. Also another thing to add. The Arabica beans are higher quality than the robusto beans and less oily too. The Arabica beans are also more expensive
Ordered this from Delonghi. Too bad they sent me a defective one. The steam wand did not work. My first Dedica lasted 5 years before it died. Poor quality control. I returned it and won’t be buying another Delonghi.
Thank you guys for your honest review. But you need less coffee, less pressure and more pressure for the delonghi machine. Well done for the effort, but maybe an user would be helpful.
Another failed attempt to make a small and affordable espresso machine. You held the machine down when putting the portafiller on. Placing the portafiller should not make then entire machine slide. Either find a better attachment to the kitchen countertop or make a heavier appliance at the base.
This happens with brand new semi automatic espresso machines sometimes! The gasket in the group head will loosen with use and time (usually around the 1-2 week mark) and then becomes much much smoother to insert :)
I would not judge a machine by the friction index of a kitchen counter. But hey, I guess I'm also judging you from your lack of pertinence. We all make mistakes.
@@vincentpelletier1246 Yeah I wouldn’t either, that’s why I own the larger Breville (machine makes good espresso). Everyone has a different expectations when it comes to customer service. Feel free to hold the machine with one hand and do everything with the other. It’s a 1/2 product if I have to design and purchase a “solution” for it to be usable.
@@saravezelaj941 have you ever owned such machine or you're just rambling like a toddler based on what you see? I've owned both. They're both such entry level that the quality really comes down to the portafilter and essentially the grinder's value. Now, if you review a machine based on its weight or aspect ratio, I'd suggest putting a sandbag on top of it. That way your review of a machine will actually be focused on the components doing the work.
Mine is going to have to go back. I can’t press any of the baskets into the portafilter; and I also struggled to get them out. Managed the larger one (double) but couldn’t press them down.

Awesome video Wendy Neil Jack😉
Does the stream wand come sort to deep clean.
Does the stream and come apart to deep clean?
Thank you for the video. So far, I have yet to produce sufficient froth for a cappuccino, but the espresso itself is very good.
It takes a lot of practice
Maybe watch a tutorial, Lance Hedrick's one is good

What metal is the boiler made of?
Why do you use 19g of coffee for a double shot? Normally one shot is 7-8g.

Hi Wendy. How did you attach that steaming wand and is the result better than the one that comes with the Dedica?
Hi! Which steam wand are you referring to?
@@ecscoffeeinc the one you have attached to the delonghi dedica.

Is it not over pressing the grind that causes it to not flow?
Nope. Usually the type of grind or a poor press

Single

i thought the dripping is a problem of my machine, can't believe i have to grind it coarser than i did for my moka pot
It’s only because of the pressurised baskets if you ever upgrade to non pressurised baskets you would grind much much finer than your French press
Do u have to warm the machine before hand?
When you turn it on it takes a few seconds to warm up.
You have puted too much cofee (double dose in 1 shot planned one) , thats why it doesn't flow out
How can I get the steam wand
You cannot change it out on the old models

"they put an 'e' at the end of the word" 🤦
'Arte' is 'art' in Italian / Spanish
