If you have a Rode Wireless Go II or similar DJI wireless recorder with onboard storage it shouldn't be hard to link that up to your Cardo Edge with a Y-splitter cable.
The direct mic to camera audio is a lot better, but the comms recording is def useable, I'll be interested to hear how well it records others in the mesh! Shame it doesn't record the phone calls, that could be useful.
I'm now glad I heard someone else test this before trying it myself. I'd have been tempted to just use the Cardo recording to save all the faff with mics, then the accompanying footage would have been rendered useless. A great idea but sadly nowhere near up to scratch, which is a real pity because had this worked better it would have been a God send.
@@Phil480 I'll keep an eye out for the group ride test, which is where this capability would have been handy if it was up to performing reasonably well. I planned to try it with a riding buddy only the weather hasn't been favourable North of the border. I'm glad now I didn't as I was going to use it on its own to save micing up my camera.
I probably will for group rides where there's a bit of conversation going on but for the bigger projects like the NC500 videos I'm doing, it is much better to use the source audio.
I've done some digging and from what I understand it'll record any method of the com Bluetooth or DMC. Apparently if you connect a Bold/Slim into a mesh network with an Edge it'll be fine. I suspect it could be for the fact the newer units use Bluetooth 5.0 is why they've put it to new devices.
Ahh yes, BT5.0, good shout there! Yes, any Bold/Slim/other device connected to the mesh will get recorded, it's just the phone recording it has to be connected to an Edge/Neo unit
My main mic is a custom built thing, known as a Helmic, originally designed to be used in a helmet and plugged in to a Sony camera that has no gain control.
Still on my Sony FDR-X3000 as my main camera for motovlog content. I use the Drift Ghost XL Pro when I'm not intending to record anything for RUclips, it just records all the time.
No, it just isn't compatible. I don't know why Cardo have not made it available for the Bold. As a premium and recent model it really should be a feature that they can make available.
My own built comms sounded 1000% better than this Bluetooth thing! Wow this is bad. I didn't expect. I wanted to buy a Sena or Cardo but man... Hardly believe it's this bad at higher speeds. I like all luxury feature though, like voice dial etc
Not bad at all and definitely a much needed feature to separate from the other comms. 👌
Does the audio cut out when you stop speaking for a period of time, like the ambient noise around you?

I think theres some legal issue with recording phone calls perhaps?
@@Phil480 which is odd as our phones are capable of doing so!

Yes, no good for main use really, I didn’t expect it to be high quality. I’m yet to try it in a group ride situation.

So after this video and you’ve had more time will you use the feature ?

I ordered the cardo packtalk neo ....can I record my voice with this model?
Yes, I believe this feature does work with the Neo
Great video, thanks

@@Phil480 That's cool! Sounds clean!
Dam. Was hoping it was for the bold 😢
Yeh, it sucks that it doesn't work for the Bold and other older units. Maybe they will unlock that ability in future if it is possible to do so
