My brother was Marine, he was a in charge of 20 men. He always said that no matter what stand in your way, you have to push through it. Not only for yourself, but for your brothers/sisters. So that they can be motivated and move on. He was in Afghanistan where he was on a road that was known for IEDs, he was in the lead Humvee. That’s when he heard an explosion, and immediately knew that they were going to be ambushed. He jumped out, and started shooting. After taking fire, he took out the injured Marines then put them in the lead humvee. So they would be the first in base and get medical attention or medievac out. When they were still being shot at, he started shooting back, until the ran, and hid. When they got to the base he said he never knew how bad the wounds were. So, bad they had to be evacuated. He said he cried and felt like he could’ve did something different, and after that he “never” had a man get evacuated, or where they couldn’t fight. He said that experienced made him more mature that he had ever been. This was the story he told me, may not have been true but it sure was a good story.
