FOR MY MONEY THE GREATEST AND MOST ENDURING SINGLES SKATER OF ALL TIME.......1981 WORLD CHAMPION DENISE BIELLMANN !!!
SOME MIGHT SAY THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME IS PEOPLE LIKE 2 TIME OLYMPIC CHAMPION KATERINA WITT, OR MULTIPLE WORLD CHAMPION MICHELLE KWAN, AND THOUGH I LOVE THOSE 2, AND OTHERS, THE KEY WORD HERE IS "ENDURING" AND IRONICALLY "BEST IN SHAPE" AS WELL, DENISE STARTED COMPETING IN THE 70's AND THERE ARE VIDEOS HERE ON YOU TUBE TO PROVE IT, AND KEPT WINNING ALL THE WAY WELL INTO THE 2000's - WITT'S CAREER LASTED ABOUT HALF THAT LONG, AND KWAN'S CAREER LASTED LESS THAN A QUARTER THAT LONG, WITH A VERY SHORT PRO CAREER.......... BUT IN THE 90's, 20 YEARS AFTER DENISE STARTED COMPETING, NOT MANY WORLD OR OLYMPIC CHAMPIONS WOULD RELISH THAT FACT THAT DENISE WOULD ALWAYS SHOW UP ON THE ROSTER TO BEAT THEM, KINDA EMBARRASSING FOR THEM, I WOULD IMAGINE.......

She was always so ahead of her time and so under appreciated. She really made her mark as a pro. My favorite skater of all time.

She became the most accomplished female figure skater of all-time. She won more world class events (23) than any other woman ever has (plus 19 more 2nds). She was the best spinner, one of the best jumpers of all-time and Denise was unmatched in her combination of athleticism & eye appeal.

Notice that this amazing LADY who always attempted to open up the super conservative rules of Figure Skating, and who was aware of what she was up against, has never been anything less than 100% gracious when her super superior performance was graded lower than a lesser skater. She is an excellent Sportsman. I put Elvis Stoyco in her category when it comes to being willing to graciously accept what most of us consider unfairness to him...They are both Amazing and have my highest regard! USA loves them both.
