Yes!!! My mom passed in 86 and she lived figure skating. I remember the last winter Olympics before she passed. She was so excited to watch Scott Hamilton and there wasn't much TV she watched but when figure skating came on even my dad had to change the channel. When I see Scott I think of her and smile. I could care less about quads and such. He was the ultimate showman. The audience loved him.

When he got on the ice, you knew you were going to be entertained. Best of all, you could tell he loved what he was doing and HE was having fun, which made us viewers have fun too. see now I disagree ... even Scott talks highly about Nathan Chen. Nathan has progressed past the quads regiment & has added fun artist motion into his routines. & it's not just Scott as all the greats look at Nathan as a throwback to them but going beyond.
Don't detract from some icons not only in US but around the world. There is a young one out of Japan that smacks of old blended with new.
Then a very young skaters coming into play here in US. Just needs more experience. Took Nathan a while. Just as it did Scott.

Oh, Theresa I so agree with you. I miss the Scott Hamilton era which includes pairs dance and singles. We had more exhibitions, Pro competitions and although all skaters can't do 6 or 7 quads in a program, which is definitely a skill, I really miss the entertainment as well. I. Love. Scott. And the best part was he skated for us, his fans. I loved that great big smile at the end of his programs.

There will never be another Scott Hamilton. When he was competing, it wasn't just about artistry or technical moves, it was also about entertainment, and he was the best. You always knew a good time would be had because Scott loved what he was doing, he knew exactly what he was going to do, and he knew his audience loved him then and still love ❤️ him! ⛸️
