    Tim, just wanted to thank you for the bit about your 'target panic' because of the delayed break. I'm currently in my second week of archery and I've been quite decent. I've had a couple shots not go off and subsequently panicking jerking the bow and sending my arrow past the target altogether. In norther Sweden we still have about a foot-and-a-half of snow so those 4 arrows are lost till the temperature rises. TO MY POINT OF THANKING YOU, I decreased the weight in my tension release and subsequently have felt much more confident and have finally realised how the whole back tension is supposed to feel. So, thank you for "giving me the permission" to decrease the weight in my release. I love you guises videos! All much appreciated!

    It may have been said, but I would put a peg on The Hinge! Bag train and work with the timing of the click to coincide with you coming to full anchor and then begin your aiming moment, maintain a positive pressure against the bow and pull with the back muscles while waiting for the shot to break. You may find that the .014 is too hot for that style. My choice for The Hinge is .016. That allows me to focus on a spot while positively pushing my pin into the target while trying to pull my elbow away from the same. ASA Pro Michael Braden calls it keeping the chain tight from the base of the grip to the end of the elbow! That maintains the pressure needed to fire the shot with back tension. By not giving in and letting the chain have any slack the shot will break. Hope that helps!

    Love my Wise Choice! That thing works the best for me. Perfect combination of control form with a surprise release. Thing is built like a tank.

    My current release is carter wise choice. Still getting used to the larger barrel. As you eluded to, I lost my Scott archery pursuit release. I love it, drilled holes with it. It’s a cheaper handheld I would suggest for anyone wanting to give handhelds a try. Has a smaller barrel and comes in 3&4 finger option. Thank you for all the content. Hopefully my wise choice bags me a whitetail this season

    • @cameronbrown3490
      @cameronbrown3490 3 года назад

      Elk Shape it was easier than what I thought! I had to find a new anchor point with my hand, working on pulling and letting my bow down. But my shots have improved a lot!

    Very interesting because I struggle with a lazy elbow as well, and I have found that the ultra view hinge also fixes that problem, for whatever reason I’m not sure, but a high elbow is the natural result that I get with the hinge… It is my hunting go to release

    Thanks for the info. I will admit that when the clicker goes off i instantly lose my sight picture. I had to flip the sear to reduce target panic. I do not have a thumb release. Your opinion has helped me out. I am strongly considering a Carter three finger that will fit a large hand. Currently, I shoot a Scott index release as an option to my hinge. The Scott is a fine. I just wanted to try a thumb release. God Bless

  • @GBBLGBL

    One bit of advice you might want to try with the hinge. Set it just a touch "hotter" so the click happens much closer to when you settle into your anchor or with little rotation. In the end it will make you less jumpy when it clicks vs sooner to remind you have perfect hand pressure and anchor THEN rotate and pull through the shot. It looks like you are rotating a little too far just to get to the click. Give it a shot, you can always cool it back off if you don't like it. I owned a UV Hinge and it was nice but I prefer my HBC better. As soon as I come off the thumb peg and anchor soldi it clicks. I understand and know the UV truly doesn't need a peg with that design but maybe put one on to help get that click in a better point of your process....Great work ES Guys!!

    I'd say try and loosen up the tension spring on that Evolution release a little. I have shot all of those releases and hunt with a wise choice. I'd guess if you can get to the point where you can shoot the evolution really well consistently it will improve your execution with all of your other releases. The Evolution magnifies flaws like crazy, so if you don't feel you can shoot it well it probably means there's inconsistencies that can be improved on. In my opinion a tension activated release shouldn't give you target panic if used correctly. If you struggle to use it and tend to jerk and punch it that is a form of target panic. No offense, just what I have found from experience being someone who overcame target panic with an evolution myself.

    • @user-li8cm5ui2s
      @user-li8cm5ui2s 3 года назад +2

      This has been my experience exactly--when applying back wall preload, steady, and continue pulling through, there is no way to panic. It's a smooth motion, unlike any of the thumb/index releases

      @ElkShape  3 года назад +3

      I can see that, initially wanted it heavier to train pulling through, but maybe it was to heavy, couple lbs over holding weight - TC

  • @RobertWilliams82-22
    @RobertWilliams82-22 3 года назад +1

    My personal opinion, speed up your ultra view.... there is a lot play before your click and release... I see that causing target panic.... I sped up my hinge today to where it clicks when I come into my anchor and breaks right after it passes 90 degrees.... I was actually commanding it yesterday

    • @ElkShape
      @ElkShape  3 года назад +1

      Hey Robert - I did speed it up a lot, went to the .014" click length, and that is the sweet spot for me!

    • @RobertWilliams82-22
      @RobertWilliams82-22 3 года назад

      @@ElkShape I have the total control which is pretty much the honey without the safety.... I am 5 times more consistent with it then any of my other releases... might switch to it to hunt.

    I have the 2 smooth which is a 2 finger Carter release designed by Dudley and i love the release, but i have heard the hook position on the Hinge by UV is muh more natural for anchor and the adjustment is better and easier. The moon adjustment on the 2 smooth is great but i find if i leave the clicker sound in, it startles me at full draw. But if i tune it out then the release it too hot especially if i have to let down...hoping the Hinge is not like that for me. I have been shooting the silverback and nock2it for 2 years now and i love them. I hunt with the nock2it since it clips onto the Dloop and is always ready

    You shooting a Realm SS?.. I primarily shoot an index release, Trufire hardcore.. very comfortable with it.. I have a Scott pursuit thumb release that I shoot as well, but I hit a couple inches to the right with the thumb vs index... I'd like to shoot a hinge, but haven't yet.. have been considering the Trufire sear and Scott longhorn hunter.. any advice on a hinge to try and not break the bank?.. thanks!

    Shooting that hinge completely wrong. Youre purposely activating the shot. Just relax and pull through the shot.
