I think: The song is about Maynard confronting his fear of the negative traits/behaviors passed in to him by his father and his fear he will pass that on to his unborn son, whom he wishes to have a healthy relationship with(my blood before me begs me to open up my heart again) Yet he fears the negativity will always be there and will resurface(the snake behind me hisses) and he will pass it on to his son. It’s always there(I’m am too connected to you) meaning too connected to his negative self. Its waiting to come out and drag him and his unborn son down by passing on the negative traits (venomous voice tempts me....like some sweet gravity) But ultimately it’s his son that saves him and convinces him to actively exercise his “demons.” ( days a away, I still feel you, touching me. Changing me. And Considerately Killing Me) meaning killing his negative self.
Perfect, Garrett. This song, my favorite of all their songs, Lauren, is the opposite of toxic. It's beautifully honest and human. MJK is afraid that the torpor, coldness and callousness of his father lived within himself, as well. Until, he met Devo. Then, it was unconditional, unequivocal love.
@@alshurdom6917 this is the song that got me into tool. I had heard sober burnt wasn’t until Aenima came out and my friend got it and let me borrow it that tool sank its teeth into me. And it was this song. As soon as I heard that delayed note progression at the beginning I was hooked, and when I realized what he was talking about.... 🥰
The song is about the birth of his son Devo H. Keenan and how it changed his life. If you want a song about a toxic relationship I would suggest Pushit (both Aenima and Salival Live versions). Another GREAT son about his son is JAMBI!
there are A LOT of Tool reactions on utube but needs to be more.. anytime ur 4 member hard rock band has the best drummer in the world, one of the top 5 bass players in the world, a great singer and great lead guitar u deserve more airtime anywhere anytime
IMO, the snake behind him is his past which made him jaded and/or closed off but the blood before him(a child) begs for him to open up his heart again. Many people think this song is about his son and becoming a father.
If you want to see Danny's kit and him performing check out the drum cam for Pneuma. I know it's a live video but if you love those drums you will see why they call this man the octopus
There are so many fun songs to choose from in the collection one really knows where to begin, but I'm going to go first with Parabol/Parabola. If you choose please make sure to listen to both. 'Right in Two' also another good choice to build up your base of tunes. After that 'Prison Sex', 'The Grudge', 'Jambi', 'Vicarious' are all good choices. Just remember to save songs off the new album "Fear Inoculum" for later down the road. In general the music of Tool evolves from album to album and that's something I think you'll come to understand better once you have a number of songs under your belt. It might be fun for you to try to arrange the songs in chrono before you know which albums they came from, but you probably already have some knowledge on that. Happy Listening!
This is one of the more subdued Tool songs. It's never been one of my favorites, but it's still great. That's the thing about Tool...one of their lesser songs, IMO, will be someone else's favorite...because there aren't really any "bad" Tool songs. If you want to hear a "rock" song by Tool, check out "Crawl Away" or "Bottom". If you want to hear my current favorite, check out "Descending"
I don't know if it's been brought up here but h is the middle Initial of his son devo. I always assumed it was about heroine till I heard this. But to me it's more about not wanting to pass on these negative traits to his son.
Great reaction Lauren! I’m a few weeks behind on your videos so I’m binging and playing catch up lol Glad you enjoyed the song and look forward to more. Take care 🖤
It’s interesting hearing and reading different interpretations of this one. I had always heard that it was about a relationship with Heroin. Which lyrically to me makes sense. Fascinating seeing some of these.
H. ends with static, 46 & 2 begins with static Intermission isn't a song with lyrics but it transitions into Jimmy There are some others that go together as well
“He had to punch me first...I had to get some feeling in my face first, IDK”...🤣😂🤣. If you want a face-punchy song about love gone wrong, Pushit (studio version) is a must...if you want to ice your face a bit after that, Pushit (live Salival version) is a nice bag of frozen peas...for a while🤭.
My favorite song by my favorite band. 'H' is symbolic of half empty & or half full. Which one are you? If you crave the more eloquent beautiful side of TOOL check out songs like 'The Patient' or 'Right in two' & 'Disposition'.
I think you would Love PUSHIT from the SALIVAL(live) album. It has what you're looking for: awesome vocals, negative view of love, and a great drum solo.
I think your interpretation is a good one, though I've taken to the "father to son" meaning that others have mentioned. H could also be referencing a drug and the lyrics dealing with an addict. Lots of options, like most Tool lyrics. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I'm glad to see you back whit Tool. This band gets better and better everytime im listen to , not mentioning the vidoes for some songs. And what are your favorite bands that you listen at daily basis? I think you mentioned Coldplay but not sure , have to check it.
maybe u have already but EVERYONE needs to react to Tool Danny Carey drum cam Pneuma live.. he is a phenominal drummer, very rare to be a big guy (6’6” 260lbs) and be that smooth, fast, powerful and precise on drums
You can't judge them... Till you have seen them Live. It's a big deal to them & their fans. "I want to hear the song like you played it on the Album !!" 😃They have never let Me down
you're, clearly, highly intelligent. Though, you have a "what the shit is this?" resting face :). I never know what you think until you say it. For example, I thought you hated that song until you said you didn't. Either way, I subscribed.
I come for your Poker Face but stay for your Corey "Freaking" Taylor smiles, lol. IMO, Tool is a band that grows on you the more you listen to them. Sort of like a Borg assimilation but in a good way. If you get a chance listen to an acoustic cover of 'Right In Two' by Bearded Harmony, it's amazing! I know you said you are inactive on Instagram but I did send you a DM there. Happy to see you over 900 subs!
binaural hearing gives us high to low frequency for updown and Pan leftright for direction, with delay/reverb for distance. in the studio they set the pan left and right levels for each microphone aimed at a drum piece which helps create that swirl effect. i like it when they set the Pan LR levels as if you are the drummer with toms high to low from left to right with cymbals doing the same. hihat cymbal sizzle sound to the left, high and bright ting of the ride cymbal to the right. Danny Carey is a master at getting the best natural sound out of a drum and Joe Barresi is a master at recording it. imo;)
A lot of people believe this is about his son as his middle name is H. And it's about him becoming a father and that considerate death of your pre father self become post father self. Of course maynard never explains his lyrics and if you ask him about it he typically gives a very douchey answer.
You should listen to Praise abort by lindemann. Completely fucked up song. Video makes it better but the song stands on its own. Lead singer is also in rammstein

Mandala drums plugs to a computer sampler he made himself. Later used in the lateralus tour because it’s easy to travel with and not much to pack.
You reacted on the 19th , on my birthday, and even though all Tool songs are my favorite this is absolutely one of my favorites 💓 awesome
if you enjoy 'drums playing around your head' listen to Rosetta Stoned - also has one of my favorite bass riffs ever.

Tool is the best bad ever you think it’s an ok song here it a few more times and realize everything you missed and end up loving each of their songs

Love your genuine reactions. Keep them coming, pretty lady!
I like how the chorus at the end has a completely different guitar riff driving it.
Love your honest opinion about what you really think about tool, already a fan.
I remember this feeling when I first became a dad. The old me died right there in that hospital. Peace
Love all the hard rock your reacting to. I love your videos cant wait for the next. Do more Tool!!!!!!
Thanks for watching! :)

Died, also.. The self-deprecation is too much... Laughing..
Tool - The Grudge
Omg, h... A little deep into the track list.. So good..
Loved this, also, can relate with the marching band throwbacks, haha
Subbed for Tool! Nice reaction! Spiral out, Keep going!
I think you would Love PUSHIT from the SALIVAL(live) album. It has what you're looking for: awesome vocals, negative view of love, and a great drum solo.
Great Reviews!!!
Couple request/suggestions:
Chevelle- "So Long Mother Earth"/"Same Old Trip"
TOOL-"Reflection"/"Fear Inoculum"/"Descending"
Aurora- "Runaway"(Nobel Peace Prize performance is amazing)
Puscifer -"The Underwhelming"/"The Humbling River"
A Perfect Circle- "3 Libra's"

@@MusicCatsandCoffee Glad it made you smile. lol.
"Roto-toms" i believe.
Bingo.
I've always thought it was about a relationship with drugs. Heroin to be specific, hence the title "H"
nope, listen to the lyrics - it's literally about fatherhood

Question. Of the songs that you've heard from Tool how many has made your playlist to keep?

“ might be about the war of 1812” 😂😂
The Avett Brothers - Ballad of Love and Hate (live)
Song is about his son named Hubert I think
binaural hearing gives us high to low frequency for updown and Pan leftright for direction, with delay/reverb for distance.

Thanks for that comment, interesting stuff!
Quitting Heroin when the (his) fisrt child is born!
Danny's drum kit is massive and it contains many electric drum pads which gives him limitless possibilities
H. Is about addiction .
Only 99 subs away from 1k subscribers!!🎂🎁🤘🏻

Enjoying all the TOOL reactions on your channel, please listen to, "Invincible" off their newest release...thx
I played the sax my first year of a marching band.
Rock on. Clarinet here!
I just noticed that you have not reacted to Jimmy yet off of Aenema
I have a long way to go still. :)
@@MusicCatsandCoffee I'll be here for every one of them
Jerry says hi
It's unfair for Aenima because you haven't done the best songs of the album (like you did with Lateralus) : Jimmy, Pushit and Third eye.
A lot of people believe this is about his son as his middle name is H. And it's about him becoming a father and that considerate death of your pre father self become post father self.

TOOL - Stinkfist
The drums you are talking about are tabla.
in many ways this is probably one of their best songs even though, it is not really one of my favorites
Push it album version is a must, yes people will say the salival version but you have to do the original 1st to really appreciate the changes made.
You wanna see drums? How bout tools drummer?! Watch Pneuma, live drum cam! Itll blow your mind!

11 days. Not long.
The last Tool video I posted was April 2nd. The crowd was getting restless. :)
Songs called H. Written in the mid 90s. Come on girl. 2+2=???????
