Just ordered mine, it's arriving on January 11th and I've watched so many reviews of the Z50 and they're pretty much all positive. Can't wait to try it!
Great video. Just bought a z50 a month ago and have taken two trips with it. Great travel camera. Thanks for posting a follow-up after using it for months. Good to know you are still loving it.
I had a D3500, Z5, D750, Z7II, D7000,D500…. And now aZ50. Sold everything and saving for a Z8 i hope. But had to buy something, it is a Z50. And honestly, it takes great pictures. Image quality is great, better than I expected. Really capable of taking great images. Impressed with this small guy, I dont miss any of my camera, maybe Z5 but honestly… Not that much difference. Amazing little camera 😊
Mate, Z8 is INSANELY GOOD!!! If you can save up to that, it ticks all the boxes 😃 Z50 is a really awesome little camera. I love mine. If you shoot a lot of night scene/low lights though, then full frame will give you a cleaner shot. So aim for Z8 if you need the blazing fast speed, or otherwise Z5 is a great full frame to start with, if you're taking the next step 🙂
I've dropped my Nikon B700 several times, even from a bicycle going kind of fast when the strap came loose. It's a testament to Nikon's build quality because it has never missed a beat. Still works fine.
This is AWESOME!!! Just what I needed to know. I'm sold... I'm new to the photography world, and I was on the fence about getting this. Now I'm sold. Thank you so much. 😁😁 Cheers mate! Thumbs up for sure. Oh, and subscribing. 👍👍
Pretty lightweight compared to my D200z. Plus, being able to use the ZTF adapter with all my other AF-S NIKKOR lens is a plus. I’m no professional photographer but It’s something I do enjoy.
Great video .. I have had my USED Z50 for four months now .. I like it as a lightweight replacement for holding my D800 for 7-8 hours . Still getting used to it. For me the ONE MAJOR flaw I have with it is the Led Touch Screen. If you hold the camera to your face to use the viewfinder to shoot like the DSLRs , my face will bump against the LED view screen and activate the Zoom buttons they put on the screen instead of having it as a side button like every other Nikon. I wish they can be turn off its a pain sometimes but other than that it is a nice spare body to have in a studio or have it as a walk around camera .
Thanks a lot mate. Wow it's interesting to hear new experience from you. I've never thought of that zoom button thing, nor that I have had that experience. Maybe because i use the screen more than the EVF. And yep agree, if that could be turned off, that'd make it convenient. It is a nice spare body ay 😃
@@RedImaginationbyGG since I do Red Carpet , weddings and work for San Diego Comic Con I be used to looking to the viewfinder. In the studio once you have the exposure I don't need to keep looking at the viewer since I be tethering on a big screen .. I be trying to bring the camera up to a pro level and its fighting back .. LOL .. Dreaming of a Z9 or Z8 of course. Or maybe my nose is just too big it hit the button ... Nikon themselves was trying to solve it for two weeks until we all gave up :)
I had the same issue, being a left eye shooter it was a real pain, but has a really easy fix. I bought a very cheap cupped eyepiece and it solved the problem.
Thanks Gunawan, saw this vid and i love the positives of this camera and features as im a bit of all like you say, traveling, social media, shooting nature, portraits etc and best i can still use lenses from Nikon ecosystem as i am planning to try mirrorless and upgrade from the D5300 series..😅😅 as an amateur photographer hobbyist.
It is a cool piece of kit. The small size is not as important for me, since I own several large lenses. The killer features of the mirrorless system are around exposure preview and filming. My Nikon DSLRs are in that regard way behind. On the plus side for DLSRs are an extreme amount of cheap and high quality lenses, dual card slots and longer battery duration.
love your content, currently using nikon d90 will not hesitate to switch to z50 as your videos gave me alot of input, and im smiling 😊 as your voice is so calm ,thank you so much for the videos, keep up the good work, hearts from malaysia
Hey thanks a lot for the kind words man! Really appreciate it. D90 to Z50 will be a world difference, although they're both cropped sensor. It's highly recommended. Have fun with the switch 😃
I am very happy with this camera- I was gonna buy the Z5 for a bit more but the step was to high for me especially concerning weight and price for lenses and so on!
That sounds good mate. Wise choice. Z5 is a great camera, but unless if you really really need a full frame body for photos, I still think the Z50 is a better alrounder due to the video capability, size and price. Hope you enjoy the Z50 like I do 😃.
Thanks for this video. I hesitate between the Nikon Z50 and the new Canon EOS R10. I mainly do street or landscape photography and even at night. What choice will you make?
Hey there! Loved the review after 10 months! Helped me finalize this camera over Canon M50 MK II. Can you please let me know which is the camera stand shown at the start of video? (Holding the camera from the side, which helps as the Z50 display flips downwards)
I think it's brilliant. Often 200€ cheaper to the Zfc too. I got the 2 lens kit for 1000€. Not the best lenses for low light but for the money there's nothing better.
Hey, thanks for making this video. Its really helpful. I'm planning to take one in Jul '22 and I have just two concerns, 1. the Auto focus. They say that its not that great sometimes... and 2. I heard the rumors that Nikon Z50 II (next version) should be coming out soon..? thoughts?
Hey no worries man. Here's my thoughts. 1. To me, the auto focus is really descent. For those who said it's not great, you need to ask and understand what the use case is. Generally speaking, all cameras regardless of the brand and model will find it harder to focus when there's not much contrast anyway. Eg, low light. To me, it's really descent and work well. I sometimes use it even for commercial shoot. I own a Z9 and Z6, but I often only bring the Z50 around because it's so compact and reliable. 2. Never heard of Z50 II yet. So I dunno. But the reality is there will ALWAYS be a newer model that will be 'better' is some aspect. The real question is 'do you really need all those new features?'. Just don't get caught up in the gear game. It's endless :) Hope it helps mate.
@@chandramoulich21 I have the z30 too and really like it now wanting it with a EVF. I took a low light photo one morning was was like WOW these colors and low light ability.
Love this video, and my Z50, too!! Are you shooting stills in Aperture priority mode? How do you deal with Auto ISO and minimum shutter speed settings? I have some issues... Thanks!
Hey thanks mate. I often shoot in either Manual or Aperture Mode depending on the situation. I never had a need to adjust minimum shutter speed so far. If i think the shutter is going to be too slow, i'd just crank up the ISO if I must. What specific issues do you have? Maybe I can share my thoughts 🙂
Hey thanks a lot :) I personally have never used the a6400. As far as photo and video quality, all cameras these days are good I must say. The biggest difference to me between Nikon and Sony is the ergonomic. Plus not sure if a6400 is weather shield, but Nikon Z50 certainly is, which means extra peace of mind 🙂 Been using Nikon for the last 18 years and the weather shield has never let me down. Maybe pop into a camera shop and try both cameras yourself. See which of the 2 feels better in your hand, and go through the menus and check which of the 2 that you like more. Hope this helps.
Hey thanks a lot! Sorry ... Been busy and now back in answering questions, haha ... While I wouldn't recommend this camera for fast paced events like weddings or sports, I would recommend this camera for portrait photographer as well. The lenses will make huge difference for portraits. So get some prime lenses like 35mm, 50mm or 85mm f1.8 and I'm sure you'd love it :) I've just posted some portrait images shot on Z50 on the Community sections if you're interested to see some samples. Hope this helps :)
@@RedImaginationbyGG thank you so much for your reply..! just my last question!! would it be a good plan for me to buy FTZ mount and AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G to focus on portrait?
@@jazzydazzy1988 Yes, that would be a great start. Good balance between budget and quality. 35mm on DX body will give you pretty good versatility. Not too tight, nor too wide. If you have extra $ and want to up the quality, consider the Z 35mm f1.8. Z lenses are generally sharper, silent focusing helps a lot if you shoot video, and in case you're upgrading to full frame body down the track, you can continue using the same lens. Regardless of what you're getting, at the of the day, it's your vision before you click the shutter that matters THE most. 😃🤙
@@RedImaginationbyGG I use it for wedding and sports with little to no problem. Why is 11fps not fast enough for wedding and sports? Its AF and Buffer is better than my D500 and D300 which only have 6fps and 10fps. I REALLY dont get it.
@@Dylon1981 Hey mate, you might've misinterpret my response. Let me clarify 🙂 I've never said that the fps not fast enough for wedding and sports. I said 'I wouldn't recommend it', but it doesn't mean that Z50 can't, it CAN. If this is the only camera I can get, I'd shoot weddings with it. And good on you for making it work to shoot wedding and sports. That's a testament of your skill to be able to make the camera works. I'm a wedding photographer. When we're talking about wedding, it's a 'once in a lifetime' moments. Once the moment's gone, it's gone. More risk management is required. I look beyond the picture quality and fps factors. Eg. Dual memory cards to lower the risk of losing images, larger full frame sensor for better low light performance and quality, faster camera focusing speed. I look at all of those factor when choosing the camera. The way I see it, I get paid to do weddings as a pro, I need to use the right tool that helps me minimising the risk and maximising the result. I hope you now get it 🙂
Hey thanks mate! 🙏 After updating the firmware, I feel an improvement on the auto face detection in a well lit environment. But I haven't specifically test its limit in poor lighting environment. In low light, I'm still accustomed to use single focus point. Just the old school 'focus > compose > shoot' method 😄 May give it a test and make a video about it when I got a chance. No promises made though 😃
Hey, great video... Thank you for the review... I am looking to buy a video camera for wedding videography/photography. Would you recomend this? considering wedding can be full day events. Some cameras tend to overheat mid shoot. lol. Thanks again...
Hey thanks a lot mate. If you're looking at Nikon range, I'd say either Z6ii or Z9 will be the top options for video right now. If you're just starting out, the z50 can absolutely work as a starter. The slo-mo of 120fps combined with prime lenses with large aperture can make real cinematic footage. Just like the video sample shown in this video. The only thing you need to be more strategic is using the camera in low light situation, often during the reception. Be sure to have your extra LED lights instead of relying on the ambient lights. But trust me, it can work :)
@@RedImaginationbyGG appreciate the response. I will definitely give it a try. I need something that will allow me to learn a bit of photography on the side as well. 120fps is just🔥. Would a 50mm prime be a good starting point?
@@JMXCzw To me, there's no right or wrong answer to it. It all depends on your needs and priority. If i were you and can only budget for one lens to kick off, I'm gonna go with 24-70 f4. Yes you will sacrifice that bokeh look, but the versatility is there especially for wedding. But if you can budget for 2 separate lenses, then yep getting the 50mm. You can either the f1.8, or Z MC f2.8 so that you can get macro shots of the rings. Whatever you're going with, i hope it works out the best for you mate :)
I appreciate this video. Thank you! How is the quality of the photos taken from it? From an amateur perspective? Planning to buy it, and use it for next few years (5-7).
Hi Shashank, thanks for the kind words man. From amateur perspective, the quality is great and to me, this camera does a lot more than what most 'amateurs' need. I truly believe so. Interval time shooting, video capabilities, built in timelapse, just to name a few. In short, it is GREAT for amateurs.. I'm sure if you look after the camera, it would last you a long time. I have owned by far 10 Nikon cameras over the last 17 years, including film, DSLRs and mirrorless, only one has a fault on it. Hope it helps 😃
I'm currently a Nikon D7200 user and I'm considering stepping into the world of mirrorless. I've considered a few cameras from Nikon (Z50), Canon (M6 Mark II), Sony (A6400) and Fujifilm (X-T30II) and I found Z50 the most promising. It is small and light with the kit lens on, it has a built-in EVF, it is affordable for me, it has a good low-light performance, etc. I'm pretty sure I would go for it. Thanks for your video.
Really good to hear this video has helped your decision making process 😃 You are correct, the Z50 is priced pretty good right now. The weather shield works well for me as well. Whatever you end up getting, I hope you get the one best suit to your needs 😃🌟
Thanks for this video! :) I'm a bit torn on D5600 and the z50. Up until now I have used a D3000 which doesn't even have a live view mode, thus I'm very used to using the viewfinder only. What is the mirrorrless' viewfinder like? Is the lag noticeable compared to a mirror?
You're very welcomed mate. Transitioning from DSLR to mirrorless, you will notice the Electronic Viewfinder being different. The lag in Z50 and Z6 are slightly noticeable on a fast moving object. On the Z9, it is hardly noticeable. Looks pretty much realtime. Which I can that being adopted to future entry level DX & FX mirrorless in the future. I guess if you're torn between D5600 and Z50, it'd all comes down to what you shoot. If you shoot photos of fast moving objects, or often shoot in dim lights, i'd still suggest the D5600. But if you also shoot video, then definitely the Z50 coz the video features are waaaay better than the DSLRs. Hope it helps mate 🙂
@@RedImaginationbyGG Thanks for your kind reply! I'll try to see both cameras in person to see what's the viewfinder like, how do they handle in terms of size and weight. It'd mostly be for travelling and hiking around, so street photography, landscapes and maybe occasional portraits so I'd eventually pick up something like a 35mm lens along with the kit. Thanks for your input again! :)
@@Szili0 All good mate. Happy to share what I know. Might a bit late to respond sometimes. Just like right now. Lol.. For travelling and hiking, hands down I opt for mirrorless. Mainly because of the size and weight. Although the DSLRs will win in terms of the battery life. Z50 + Z 35mm f1.8 is definitely cute combo, give great quality and versatile enough for most photography scenario :)
The z50 has a digital view finder so when you put up to your eye the main screen transfers into the view finder. You can use both screens interchangeably
thank you for the info I am also using new Z50 and new into photography. it would be very helpful if you could please make a video on best setting for crisper images using kit lens only and how to get best out of z50 for slow motion setting. Thank you so much just subscribed 🙏🏼
Hey thanks for the watch and for the subs man. Really appreciate it :) I hope you learnt something from it. Yeah sure. I will keep a note on the vlog about video setting. Any specific use case that you're thinking? For travel video/wedding maybe?
Thank you for the great review. I am considering to buy Z50. But I need your opinion if it is still worth it to buy Z50 in 2022 (considering we are now at the end of 2021) which the model are getting into 3rd year form it release date. My concern is that the new version of Z50 (maybe Mark II) will be out in 2022 like what Z6 and Z7 when they got their mark II after 3 years. What do you think?
Hey thanks a lot mate. I reckon Nikon Z50's features are still going to be relevant for the next years to come. Would there be a better cameras? Yes of course there will be, in fact, there will always be. But whether you need the feature from the 'better' cameras is another thing 🙂 If i were you and I have the urge to create and learn, and this is my first camera, I won't wait. Coz the more I wait, the more I miss out on many opportunities to create 🙂 But if I already have a camera and only looking for an 'upgrade', then waiting for the next Z50 makes more sense to see if the new features would work for you. So assess your own situation to see where it fits. There will always be a 'better' one out there anyway. That's my thought man. Hope it helps. 🙂
@@RedImaginationbyGG thank you so much for your opinion. It really helps a lot in making decision and now i have clear picture which one to go. I used to own few nikon dslr’s mid range body before i sold them off to jump into mirrorless which i chose sony a6000. After a couple of year i found a6000 not really into my liking especially the grip feeling. So i sold my sony camera and now considering this z50. 😃 i have tested the handling so far so good. It just that i never got a chance to see the image quality out of it as the shop only let me try the physical of the body. And here i am watching your review video and getting input before purchasing z50 ☺️
@@leeziezhu9694 @Zol Haha nice. Welcome back. To be honest though, any cameras these days are really good, regardless of the brand. One of many reasons I've been sticking around with Nikon is the weather shield and ergonomic. So good luck with your next move mate 😃
@@leeziezhu9694 I have a D7200 and have also had an A6000 for the past three years. I have now sold the small Sony in favor of a used Z50. One of the best decisions in recent times! Much better menu navigation and the handle fits better in the hand. I got used to this camera better in three days than I did to the Sony in three years. In addition to the 16-50, I also bought the new 28 mm. However, this is not absolutely necessary, since the kit lens is also very good. In general, the selection of lenses is currently not as good as with Sony, but the small Nikon is much more fun and is now taken on every trip.
@@matthiasschmitz873 yes.. i could not agree more about the menu navigation, nikon is one of the best, better than sony. I finally bought z50 twin lens kit and i am very happy with it. Plus, with ftz adapter, i can use my old nikon prime lens which makes it worth as the z lenses are still quite expensive. Image quality wise, i would say i am very satisfied. Overall, this is a very good decision i made 😊
Hi Priya, I will be making video one subject at a time. I'm planning a timelapse video next. There's a lot that this little camera can do. Any specific topic you're learning right now?
I have Panasonic fz82 and i want to buy this camera (nikon z50), what is your opinion. Now i use my panasonic for wildlife (butterflies , birds etc) because has very good zoom. I think z50 will has better quality. Is the first time who thinking to buy camera with lens :) . Your opinion if yoy want. Sorry for my english. Greetings from Greece.
No need to apologise about your English man! 🙂 Panasonic fz82 is a good compact and cheaper option for day to day use, especially with that zoom range. As far as quality, yes Nikon Z50 will be better, mainly because of larger sensor. It also give you flexibility to change lenses to explore the look that you need. If you used to using good zoom, I think the Nikon lens 24-200mm f4-6.3 is a good start for you. Whatever you choose, I hope it works well! Enjoy photography! 🙂
Hello GG.... I'm from India and professionally a Pharmacologist but in love with Streetphotography. Is it a great option for Streetphotography and daily casual shoot ? Which lens would be ideal for streetphotography ? Need your guidance 🙏
Hello Joyjeet. Thanks for dropping by 🙂 Nikon Z50 is definitely suitable for street photography due to it's portability. I have more professional cameras but yet I choose to pick up my Z50 for street photography. As far as lenses, I alternate between the kit lens Z 16-50mm and Z 35mm f1.8 depending what look that I after. Z 16-50mm allows wider shot and deeper depth of field. Z 35mm gives a better compression, bokeh and starburst. Now that you ask this, I may make a video about street photography using my Nikon Z 50. Thanks mate 🙂
Thanks for the great video! What do you think about if I put Z50 to my Nikon 200-500mm, I’m a sport photographer using Nikon D7200 now, does it make higher picture quality than Nikon D7200?
Hey thanks man! I've never been personally used 200-500mm on the Z50. I should work seamlessly like other F ED lenses using FTZ adapter. As far as the image quality, the D7200 has better dynamic range. But in a glimpse, they're pretty similar. To your specific use case for sports, i'd rather you to stick the D7200 as you're very likely will have better focusing. I won't even worry about the image quality ay, both of them are gooood. What you really need is speed! Hope it helps man😃
Wah kehormatan banget nih dapet kunjungan dari Indonesia 🇮🇩🙏 Salam kenal bro 👊 Rekomendasi sih tergantung mau foto apa sih ya. Z 28mm f2.8 asik tuh buat alrounder kayak street, portrait, compact, harga bersahabat, kualitas oke :) Z MC 50 juga gw suka banget buat alrounder, bisa macro dan hasilnya sharp 😍 Kalo mau range yg aman dan lebih fleksibel buat semua occasion ya 24-70mm, tinggal pilih yang f4 apa f2.8. These 2 cameras have the same exact sensor, therefore same image quality. Which one is better is really depends on what you wanna use it for. In short, if you use it for photos, then I'd recommend Z50. For video, Z30.
hi sir, that gear is recommended for business photography? like event photography, group nor corporate and graduation picture? i already have d3500 and iwant to add another gear. and z50 is on my radar. i hope u help me to decide.hehe thanks a lot.
Hey man, the fact that you wanna learn about event/business photography, if you're adding another gear, I'd recommend to invest in lighting. Client doesn't care about what camera you use. They care only if you can make them looks good or not. Learn about flash, strobe, how to shape lights, and how to make your subject looks better. Nikon SB-600 or Godox AD100 is a good start for that. Upgrade from D3500 to Z50 is nice, but not too significant if you're only using it for photos. Hope it helps 🙂
Hi there, i want to buy my first camera and right now i am wondering whether i should buy the z50 or the z5. I want to use the camera for traveling, hiking and stuff like this. Is the better image quality worth the money or would you recommend the z50? Nice Video btw
Hey thanks Lucas 🙂 I have used Z5 as well and I liked it. However as i do vlogs and video as well, I'd rather go with Z50. Z5 is a full frame which gives you cleaner images for night and astro photography. However the video feature is pretty limited. The 4K is cropped, which essentially the same as 4K on Z50. And it doesn't have Slo Mo 120fps option which is important for me. The Z50 is cropped sensor, however photo quality is still really good. It has better video feature and the screen flipped so you can see yourself. In a nutshell, go for Z5 if you focus more on photos, go for Z50 if you do photos and video. I hope it helps man 🙂
@@RedImaginationbyGG, I'll agree with you Red. Plus the Z5 is much heavier, If your main income is from Photography then full frame may be needed but for 99% of most shooting, the Z50 is great. Suggestion..Since Z50 doesn't have IBIS so other than the Kit len's try to buy either Nikon or aftermarket len's (Tamron) that have a Vibration reduction switch for your slow shutter speed needs.
@@p8ryot Valid points about the absence of VR there James, thanks for that mate 👍 :) And yes totally agree if you do paid gigs for photos, then Z5 is the next one to consider. For daily personal use, I love this Z50. 😃
Thats odd , I was advised the Z50 was not waterproof not even very water resistant. Not true ? Have a Z50 with DX 18-140 mm lens. As a very amateur camera user the menu system is mind boggling. So much stuff. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for stopping by mate. 🙏🏼😃 Nikon claim the Z50 being weathershied, which I have tested quite often. In saying that, I've always been sensible and wipe the camera dry once I'm indoor. It's still working flawlessly and hope it stays 😃 The DX 18-140 on the other hand is not weathershield to my knowledge. So take it easy on the lens. And yeah mate, for an 'amateur' camera, this packs a punch 🙂
Hi there, I hope u can answer me.. I own am ild Nikon D3100, I've been into photography with this camera for 3 years now, in automotive area, and I finnaly want to make a step forward.. I've been looking on the D7500, the z50, and the Sony a6400, Perhaps there are other options.. so what would y recommend me as my second camera?
I have a DSLR 3400 and there are F- Mount lenses. I know that the Nikon Z50 Is mirrorless but it’s a F mount. Will my lenses work from my DSLR? Thank you so much
Yep. You can make your F mount lenses work on the Nikon Z series camera by using the FTZ adapter. It works practically the same. The main difference being the size and F lenses make motor noise when tracking focus, but this doesn't impact the usability in any way. And the later only matter if you shoot video and need the audio from camera. Hope it helps :)
Thanks a lot man! Both D7500 and Z50 are great cameras. I guess what suits you depending on the use case. If you shoot photos a lot in low light environment, I'd go for D7500. But if you also make videos as well as photos, definitely go with Z50, coz the video features are a world difference to Nikon DSLRs :)
It’s Very good and compact camera for all purposes…I am looking for wide angle lens for my Nikon z50 for landscape and street photography any suggestions?
Hey Ranjit, spot on mate! :) The kit lens 16-50mm would be suitable for street and landscape too. But if you're looking for other alternatives, you can either get the prime 28mm f2.8, or the new Z 18-140mm f3.5-6.3. The 18-140mm would be really versatile as it covers pretty wide focal length. Hope it helps :)
Hey sorry that I've missed this question mate. The Movie Quality seems to only selectable if you're on 1080p 24fps to 60fps. To be honest, I have no idea why, not sure if this is a firmware issue or something else, sorry. Now i'm gonna try to find out myself. Thanks for raising this mate 🙂👍
Yes, 100%. I own other more superior cameras but I still use my Z50 A LOT especially for travel and street photography. The picture quality is great for its sensor size and definitely still relevant.
Yes, the Z50 is still damn relevant in 2023 even. I own this camera, I use it since 2021 and it is perfect for what I need: travel photography, enthusiastic. I take it everywhere I go. On the other hand, if we are talking about 'picture quality', be sure that if you have a 10-15 years old picture on your screen, well exposed and well edited in postprocessing, you can not say that it is so old. I searched a lot about this subject - picture quality is pretty much the same for all brands in the last 5 years (at least). No major improvements if you look at same line of camera (comparing apple with apple). So, yes, Z50 is still very strong in 2023
Did not mention anything about battery life? Problems you might have with autofocus while shooting moving objects? If you used it for gigs or just private use and not even few cool pictures you took with the camera Its like you just read the brochure bro cmon
Lemme ask you mate. Did you watch the video till the end? Coz I do have some ‘cool pictures’ right at the end bro cmon. Just like when we’re talking about anything, we can keep things short or we can tear everything apart and talk about in more details, but that will make this video a lot longer. I’m not sure if you’re interested in knowing more about the camera, or you had bad experience with this camera. But let’s assume you wanna know more and here’s my answers to your concerns. Battery life is pretty average like other mirrorless. How long one battery last really depends on so many factors. What brightness level you have, are constantly on LCD, do you shoot video, what frame rate and resolution you run for the video, so many factors. I generally use 1-2 battery per day for normal shooting/vlogging day. This is considered as entry level mirrorless. So just like other entry level mirrorless, autofocus while shooting moving object is not the greatest. But it can work well, and for the price point, it’s considerably good. You get what you paid for. And nope I don’t read the manual, nor the brochure. But … Even if I do read the brochure, that is completely okay and not something to look down on.
I have a challenge for you, I will help you reach 5k subscribers or more in exchange for z50. I love photography but I don't have money to buy. ACCEPT IT OR NOT?
Love mine too. I upgraded from a d3300 so I definitely wanted something beyond the entry level experience but maybe not a professional camera price. General photo quality is much better than my dslr and its more mobile due to its smaller size. Now I just need to get an adapter for my vintage Nikkor glass
Just ordered mine, it's arriving on January 11th and I've watched so many reviews of the Z50 and they're pretty much all positive. Can't wait to try it!

Thanks a lot mate! Yep this camera's following me anywhere I go. Still happy with it. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do enjoy mine 😃
Love my Z50. As an amateur photographer, shooting on manual, this camera ticks all my boxes.
Impressed with this small guy, I dont miss any of my camera, maybe Z5 but honestly…
Not that much difference.
Great to hear about your experience. I'm very happy with Nikon's build quality too. Very solid.
This is AWESOME!!! Just what I needed to know. I'm sold... I'm new to the photography world, and I was on the fence about getting this. Now I'm sold. Thank you so much. 😁😁 Cheers mate! Thumbs up for sure. Oh, and subscribing. 👍👍
Haha thanks for the sub mate. And I'm glad you found the video useful. All the very best with your photography journey 😃
Pretty lightweight compared to my D200z. Plus, being able to use the ZTF adapter with all my other AF-S NIKKOR lens is a plus. I’m no professional photographer but It’s something I do enjoy.
Yeah great choice. I had a D200 too. This Z50 is a world better and lighter than D200. 😃
Great B-Roll my friend!! Your have a natural creative talent!
Thanks a lot for the kind words mate! 🙂🙏🏼
@@JodyCortes LOL @ 'nose is just too big' ... Sounds pretty cool what you do there. Yeah very keen to see what Z9 will come up with real soon.
that is a really easy fix. disable touch screen, or disable live preview screen.
Yep I agree. Mirrorless or DSLR, how good/effective it is will depend on the specific use case
Excellent video 😊!
Thanks a lot buddy! 🙂👍🏽
love your content, currently using nikon d90 will not hesitate to switch to z50 as your videos gave me alot of input, and im smiling 😊 as your voice is so calm ,thank you so much for the videos, keep up the good work, hearts from malaysia
Hey thanks a lot for the kind words man! Really appreciate it. D90 to Z50 will be a world difference, although they're both cropped sensor. It's highly recommended. Have fun with the switch 😃
THANKS great video and I checked other friends questions and the way you reply thanks bro
Hey thanks! Really appreciate the kind words man! 😃🙏
Good, descriptive review! Thank you. Now somebody get this man some acetone!
Haha cheers mate! 😃🤙🏽
Thanks for a review im a new guy to have it this kind of camera.. i cant wait on a boxing day for couple of months 😅
Haha I hope Christmas comes early for you my friend! 😃
Didn't canon kill off 3rd party lenses ?
Hey there! Loved the review after 10 months! Helped me finalize this camera over Canon M50 MK II. Can you please let me know which is the camera stand shown at the start of video? (Holding the camera from the side, which helps as the Z50 display flips downwards)
Hey thanks Shreyas! Much appreciate it. That's a Joby Tripod 1k, also shown at 3:32 in the video. Hope it helps mate 😃
I think it's brilliant. Often 200€ cheaper to the Zfc too. I got the 2 lens kit for 1000€. Not the best lenses for low light but for the money there's nothing better.
Yep, totally spot on! Z50 gives you more bang for your bucks while Zfc gives you the style. But they're the same exact system 🙂
Hey, thanks for making this video. Its really helpful. I'm planning to take one in Jul '22 and I have just two concerns,
1. the Auto focus. They say that its not that great sometimes... and
It's endless :)
Hope it helps mate.
@@RedImaginationbyGG awesome mate! Thanks for the clarification 😀
@@chandramoulich21 did you get the z50 if so recommend it ?
@@sdhute hey, no, I went ahead and purchased Z30.
@@RedImaginationbyGG thank you! Simply what I see, the camera ignores the minimum shutter Speed value set in favour of the max value of ISO auto set
nice man! Good to see indepth review of this beautiful little beast man!
Thanks a lot man! Yep finally get around to do it after a long time😄
Thanks for this video. Now I really made up my mind to go with this camera instead of the sony a6400. Any thoughts between the two though?
Hey thanks a lot :) I personally have never used the a6400. As far as photo and video quality, all cameras these days are good I must say. The biggest difference to me between Nikon and Sony is the ergonomic. Plus not sure if a6400 is weather shield, but Nikon Z50 certainly is, which means extra peace of mind 🙂 Been using Nikon for the last 18 years and the weather shield has never let me down. Maybe pop into a camera shop and try both cameras yourself. See which of the 2 feels better in your hand, and go through the menus and check which of the 2 that you like more. Hope this helps.
thank you for the great video! by the way would you still recommend Z50 to only Portrait photography user? not video or any other purpose.
@@RedImaginationbyGG thank you so much for your reply..! just my last question!! would it be a good plan for me to buy FTZ mount and
AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G to focus on portrait?
I hope you now get it 🙂
love my z50, its my light weight/travel option next to my beloved z6
Yep. I'm with you. The size comes in so handy 🙂
Great video … what do you think about the new firmware Nikon just released like 2 weeks ago?

I love my Z50, It gets more use than my Z6ii
Wow .. What a testament to the Z50. Was it because of the size? Or you only use purposely use Z6ii for certain shoot?
Thanks for this video! :)
I'm a bit torn on D5600 and the z50.
Sorry for my english. Greetings from Greece.
No need to apologise about your English man! 🙂
Panasonic fz82 is a good compact and cheaper option for day to day use, especially with that zoom range.
Whats your thought about this camera for insect photography?
Hope it helps man😃
You’ll be impressed.

Z50 or z30 which is better
These 2 cameras have the same exact sensor, therefore same image quality. Which one is better is really depends on what you wanna use it for. In short, if you use it for photos, then I'd recommend Z50. For video, Z30.
Great video
Is this Nikon z50 still have focus breathing when do video?
Hi Fangli, not that i'm aware of. Because if exist, focus breathing should be the issue on the lens rather than on the body.

hi sir, that gear is recommended for business photography? like event photography, group nor corporate and graduation picture?
i already have d3500 and iwant to add another gear. and z50 is on my radar.
i hope u help me to decide.hehe
thanks a lot.

I've been looking on the D7500, the z50, and the Sony a6400, Perhaps there are other options.. so what would y recommend me as my second camera?
looking at the bottom is way more natural looking
Yeah i think so too. I now have Z30 and doesn't look natural when I look at myself on the LCD screen 😆
Amazing video bro, I’m really hesitating between D7500 and Z50
Thanks a lot man! Both D7500 and Z50 are great cameras. I guess what suits you depending on the use case. If you shoot photos a lot in low light environment, I'd go for D7500. But if you also make videos as well as photos, definitely go with Z50, coz the video features are a world difference to Nikon DSLRs :)
@@RedImaginationbyGG Hi man I got the Z50 and it’s so great thank you so much for this knowledge !
@@RedImaginationbyGG Nikon z 18 to 140 looks good , Thank you !
Hello, I'm planning to purchase this. Just wondering if the z50 can output clean 4k30 HDMI through a USB capture card?
Nice review but would be good if you cut to the review a bit, I didn't need to hear 25% of the video as intro.
Hey thanks for the feedback mate. Definitely appreciate that :)
Interesting video, thank you. My only criticism is that your music is too loud for your voice. Sorry :D
I appreciate honest and constructive feedback. Thanks a lot man! 🙂🙏
Any idea why the 'Movie Quality' option under 'Movie Shooting Menu' menu is greyed out?
Hey sorry that I've missed this question mate. The Movie Quality seems to only selectable if you're on 1080p 24fps to 60fps. To be honest, I have no idea why, not sure if this is a firmware issue or something else, sorry. Now i'm gonna try to find out myself. Thanks for raising this mate 🙂👍
I am not a pro, so this suits me fine.
Full agree
We can't really see what it looks like due to YT compression. Same with all images on all channels.
Yep compression could be a bugger sometimes
Do you think the Nikon Z 50 is still relevant in 2022 when it comes to picture quality? 😀
Yes, 100%. I own other more superior cameras but I still use my Z50 A LOT especially for travel and street photography. The picture quality is great for its sensor size and definitely still relevant.
@@RedImaginationbyGG Thanks for replying
Yes, the Z50 is still damn relevant in 2023 even. I own this camera, I use it since 2021 and it is perfect for what I need: travel photography, enthusiastic. I take it everywhere I go. On the other hand, if we are talking about 'picture quality', be sure that if you have a 10-15 years old picture on your screen, well exposed and well edited in postprocessing, you can not say that it is so old. I searched a lot about this subject - picture quality is pretty much the same for all brands in the last 5 years (at least). No major improvements if you look at same line of camera (comparing apple with apple). So, yes, Z50 is still very strong in 2023
It is not watersealed
Thanks Jan. Not sure if you took it as waterproof. The camera is not water proof, but it is weather sealed.
"I've got small eyes" lol
😂
Did not mention anything about battery life?
Problems you might have with autofocus while shooting moving objects?
If you used it for gigs or just private use and not even few cool pictures you took with the camera
Its like you just read the brochure bro cmon
@@RedImaginationbyGG thank you appreciate the feedback
@@OurSouthAfrica anytime mate 🙂
Background music too loud and annoying.
Thank you for the feedback, and sorry if it annoys you mate 🙂
I have a challenge for you, I will help you reach 5k subscribers or more in exchange for z50. I love photography but I don't have money to buy.
ACCEPT IT OR NOT?
How about you reach 5k first and we take it from there :)
Love my Z50. As an amateur photographer, shooting on manual, this camera ticks all my boxes.
I agree. In most cases, this camera packs more than what one would need 🙂
Love mine too. I upgraded from a d3300 so I definitely wanted something beyond the entry level experience but maybe not a professional camera price. General photo quality is much better than my dslr and its more mobile due to its smaller size. Now I just need to get an adapter for my vintage Nikkor glass
@@thomaspatrickparker6648 I got my FTZ as part of the package so kept my 35mm F1.8 DX lens. Enjoy and get it.
