Hello there. I have a z50 from like 1 year. I am so happy with it. The only thing it is annoying me, is auto focus on video in low light. Oh yeah, and the flipping down screen. In rest, i found it perfect. I have in plan to buy 1 more. This time, an ftc. Is like z50 but in a vintage way with side flipping screen. Good luck for me, and to yo all. P. S. I even do weddings with it. The client's are happy with the result.
Thanks for this review of the Nikon z50: As an enthusiastic amateur this camera appears to check all the boxes for me in terms of features and looks without breaking the bank.
I had the M50 and even though I found it to be a decent beginner camera, I've been extremely impeessed with Nikon. I have Full Frame camera but I'm definitely considering the Z50 as a general walkaround camera and to give me more reach for my Z mount lenses. Egronomics are superb and the I agree with this review it will make a better camera than the M50 in particular due to it using the same Z mount as the full frame cameras something that was overlooked, which will be a much better choice going forward, especially when the likes of Tamron et al start offering native Z lenses.
Nice video and good comparison. I used to have the M50 and even though I thought it's a great beginner camera I wish I had the Z50 back then, especially since I gained hands on experience with Nikon cameras which I now prefer to Canon (not a fan of Sony, period). As for the price, Nikon represents best value for money across their entire camera & lens lineup and you can find mint condition Z 50 cameras for around £550 here in the UK so it's way more affordable if you don't mind buying used from a reputable retailer with warrenty. One of the biggest things you forgot to mention IMO is that the Z 50 shares the same Z mount like the rest of the Z system cameras, unlike the M50, which is growing all the time including 3rd party lenses now. Another huge plus is Nikon's commitment to feature and performance enhancements via firmware, something Canon and Sony could learn from.
I have no idea if you’ll see this comment, but I’m wanting to get into photography and im looking for my first camera. I want a compact camera as I’ll be hiking 400 miles this summer with it. I’m stuck between the three cameras you mentioned in this video. I was leaning towards the canon but now im not so sure. Can you help me

Awesome review, thanks! After all being said, I think I already know the answer, but let me ask anyway: If you were a D5600 user (and a very satisfied one), would you switch to Z50? Why? Why not?
I'm also hunting for an answer to this question 😂 I use D7100 but need something lighter with better autofocus and tilt screen. Can't make up my mind if Z50 is worth extra bucks compared to D5600
Would you recommend this as an upgrade from a D3400, from a guy who mostly does stills but would still sometimes like to do decent video? The D7500 is around the same price
I'm in the same situation. Also, considering how expensive the lens adapter is, you can even get a used D500 for around the same price as well. The Z50 is a bit deceiving, everyone is selling it as a 'beginner' camera, but really the price is similar to pretty serious DSLRs.
@@cianosullivan2799 Ah, well, I was factoring in the FTZ adapter when I mentioned the price is comparable to the D7500. (Z50 is £500 + £200 for adapter, D7500 is £700 averagely) Unfortunately a decent used D500 in the UK is still like £1200. Think you can get the older FTZ I adapter for £100 used though
I don't think there's such a thing as a 20Mp sensor. Mp is used to measure the amount of pixels you get in an image (width x height). A sensor has a physical size, which is used to capture whatever light then gets displayed on those x amount of Mps.
So do you recommend it for someone who's aiming to start a career in photography, or you think the a6400 worth the hustle to learn using it ? Coming from phone photography!

Also The purpose of raw is to have as much room to edit and change your photos. So if you plan to do a lot of editing them raw is definitely the best way to go. But if its maybe casual photos of a company picnic or corporate party then jpg should be fine. It just depends on how much work you need to put into these photos. Z fc is aimed at a different market segment and hasn't got as good ergonomics as the Z50. Perhaps if you use it as purely a selfie / vlog camera it could appeal to some, but the Z50 IMHO is the better out of the two.
@@vickosis You can't be more wrong, Its lacks the grip which is the only negative point of it and external grip is available, Its good in every expect from z50 as it is z50's upgrade but in a retro design, My camera have Better human eye AF and support Animal eye AF, which z50 clearly lacks.
@@princekhandelwal8069 the Z fc seems to feel very plasticy and nothing like the heritage cameras it was based on. On top of that the ergonomics are definitely weak and even though you might be able to get a grip for it anyone who's used to the full frame cameras will struggle with the Z fc, not so much with the Z 50. The AF is just a firmware thingy, nothing to get too worked up about IMO. The biggest difference is that you can find a next to new Z 50 for around 500 bucks here in the UK, possibly less, which is somewhere between2/3rds and 1/2 the price of a (gimickey) retro Z fc. The later may be a decent camera, I'm not disputing this, but it certainly won't appeal to the same user group that the Z 50 did and you are far more likely to find iPhone/selfie users etc drawn to it as well ... which is kinda all I was trying to say.
@@vickosis I think that you got the wrong Information about that camera ( Plasticy ), because even its buttons are made of alluminium and tje whole bidy feels mych solid, offcourse the exyernal grip is not even close to the z50's grip but its price is not double its just 10% more than the z50 here in India. That's why i buyed it otherwise my first choice was z50, but than i got the updated version of z50 in the form of zfc but in a retro form.
@@princekhandelwal8069 well of course I meant it relative speaking and copmared to cameras of old which the Z fc design was based on it probably doesn't feel all that solid i.e. buttons, switches, flappy battery door thingy etc. Try opening the door and shaking the camera a little and listen to any sounds, same for everything else. I'm not saying it's a bad camera, far from it, but anyone expecting it to be to the built quality of cameras of old may be a little disapointed. That's all. . On the other hand I could easily live with all that if they put VR in the body, but they didn't so I chose a mint Z 50 for half the price instead.
The Sony A6400 is a much better camera with lots of third-party lenses option, Z50 is poor value for money! The only Z camera worth considering is the Z5. Another option is Fujifilm X-T30, much better option.

Will you be giving any giveaways soon ?
I would wait at this point for newer tech from Nikon….20mp is plenty…many pro cameras are 20
20mp is much better than 24mp or 26mp for a crop sensor because the large pixels of the 20mp crop sensor allow for better low light and dynamic range performance
But those pro cameras are full frame. The sensor is 150% larger than apsc.
I can get a used Z50 for $700, has 400 clicks on it with warranty. Do you feel like that's a solid price?
shutter of 400 is like nothing. I can do that just to test the camera out even before I use it properly. Sounds like it is new
... although you can get like new ones in the UK for around £500
Please review the Nikon ZFC
Quick question i want a camera for photography which is better nikon d7500 or nikon z50
Hard to say , very different cameras. but as a casual person, I would grab a z50
No Sony! Nikon and Canon only! 👍
Btw you did not use eye focus its pretty good
Price forz50 Nikon
Why do you compare this camera with M50 instead of the M6 Mark II?
Cause he had a M50 and is now considering (as stated) an upgrade to the Z50 perhaps 🤔
Price wise seems like it compares to the Canon RP, although that full frame. Mmmm, okay not the same thing.
two very different camera with very different use cases. Also remember you will need to get a lense witht he rp
Price?
The Sony A6400 is a much better camera with lots of third-party lenses option, Z50 is poor value for money! The only Z camera worth considering is the Z5.
Another option is Fujifilm X-T30, much better option.
I really wish it had ibis. My hands need all the help I can get.
We need a best bridge camera video
