Thanks for the comment about alternatives - the only battery charger I have on hand is one of the new fangled ones that senses the circuit before sending juice, which makes it useless for stuff like this. For some reason my brain wasn't thinking "duh just use the car battery directly" - thanks!
Good morning sir, could you please inform me, how many Amperes is the battery if it is 12 volts? Also, is there a risk of electrical harm if I touch the battery wires?
did a little math after my chinese 12 volt 5 amp power supply failed to do the task, the wire in my frame measured 3 ohms, 12 volts / 3 ohms = 4 amps the 10 amp battery charger works fine, may have to buy a 10 amp power supply and a capacitor

What is the tool you used to tighten/crimp the wire?
It's a frame wire crimper, available at beekeeping supply stores everywhere.
add resistors to lower current, this will make easier to control time and temperature.
