Hi Phillip! What an amazing review! We're totally honored to be on your top ten pedal list, man!!! This is a day I will always remember with gratitude...every day I learn something new from the Marshall world, not just from Marshall itself but from other amazing companies that honor that legacy and I am so happy to be a part of it, so thank you again Phillip, You Rock!!!
I bought a V3 because of your review. It's simply amazing. And they were extremely cool to do business with. I felt very good about spending the money on a smaller boutique builder.
Love the v3 version. Has the Marshall knobs and a few more options to adjust the sound. Just make sure your power supply is clean or you get some noise.
Damn that sounded way better than my Marshall JCM800 Studio. Thank god I sold that and now it is definitely time to buy this pedal. Sounded magnificent and truely like what I was looking for.
This sounds great ..... if you never have you should try a Marshall Jackhammer JH-1 - Use the O/D (distortion setting is horrible) setting only and then pan the FREQ setting hard panned right (this is key) and CONTOUR setting hard left or try between 7 and 9 o'clock. Gain is usually best around 1 O'clock. Bass for me in a closed back cabinet is at 10 o'clock. It just has that depth and mid clarity you look for in a Marshall. So far my fav all time pedal all around for a classic overdrive / rock tone. I'll have to pick one of these up and check it out though. For sure sounded great through that Princeton.
Have a V3, which I bought after your previous review. Exactly as you described and it was like buying from a local craftsman. I kept my JCM800 but it does replace it.
I went to go buy one on Reverb and they don't have any. Update: My PAL800-V4 just arrived....and damn if it doesn't KICK ASS!!! What a freaking great pedal...Phil was definitely spot on with this recommendation. Thanks Phil.
My takeaways from this demo - yeah, it sounds great and much like a Marshall. Also, if mere stomp box circuitry can reproduce that sound so well - and at a fraction of the cost of a stack and head - it kind of tells me the amp and effects modelers are going to send the manufacture of traditional guitar amps to join the dinosaurs! Course, if you've got a classic amp, by all means, you'll use it as long as possible. But the cost and inconvenience (and especially the weight and lack of presets) of traditional guitar amps are simply not going to survive in the future marketplace. For one, the modelers will only get better and better and they can be manufactured for far less cost! So, if you've got a great museum piece - excellent - I do as well. But even the horse buggy guys had their day - and once it was over, that was it!
@@Paul_Lenard_Ewing , LOL - and yet most people can't afford a Stradivarius! But if a company could mass-produce products that can come somewhat close to that "Strad" sound, but at a fraction of the cost to produce AND for consumers to buy - what do you think that might that do to the Stradivarius market? (Notice, I didn't say that the modelers are of better sound quality, - just much more affordable than buying amps and a gazillion effects! Course, the buggy makers were once in denial as well ("Who wants to buy one of those loud hunks of junk when they can own beautiful buggy pulled a handsome team of horses?").
@@philipatoz You do have a valid point there, but i play through both and the feel and response of the tube amp is just better. The sound may be the same, but through a modeler you are just playing guitar-through the tubes, you're taming a beast....🎸🤘🏼🎸
Far out that is ridiculous! Sounds amazing. The knob positions all at full seem intuitively just silly but it’s such a good tone! Just enough bite & aggression whiteout going over the top. Great review, Phil! Thank you as ever 🤘 cheers
One trick about theses that people don't know if you get into pedal it has switch that it brightnes up your tone it's like master tone nub in it then even sounds more of 800 sorta thing
Hi Phil! I just wanted to thank you for this video. I bought the original PAL800 v3 upon your recommendation (and love it), and also have their newest PAL987 PLEXI. Your suggestion to dime all EQ knobs is just what I was looking for! It gives the tone that 80s hair metal sizzle that I wasn't quite getting before. Always learning new things from you :)
would this make a marshall plexi sound like a 900 if it was infront of a cranked plexi? or does this pedal sound its best through a clean amp? i'm trying to fins a pedal to make a plexi sound like am 800 so i can use 1 amp for everything.
I've commented on this topic before, but I don't mind repeating. One thing it doesn't seem to do is emulate the Boston guitar tone. Other than Dunlap and a couple of international builders, nobody appears interested in even trying that. It should be an available option, essentially the same plexi tone as a Marshall with a big midrange boost frequently achieved by a form of bandpass filter.
Hello, Phillip! The "Rodenberg BL800 Gold" pedal also sounds excellent. It's handmade in my home country, Germany, by Uli Rodenberg and his team. I'm really enthusiastic about it because it sounds authentically like a JCM 800. However, I don't know if it's available in the USA. Musical greetings Mic 🙂 PS: "With the Rodenberg BL800 Gold" you don't need to set all the controls to 10 to produce a powerful and punchy JCM 800 sound. You can adjust your sound very sensitively. The pedal also has a switchable booster that lets the sun rise when required. In Germany, the trade press agrees that the BL800 Gold can almost be played like a real amp - and feels like one, which I can confirm. ruclips.net/video/qto0i4HZMoU/видео.html Cu.
Is there a specific amp that this pedal works best with to get accurate JCM800 sounds? Asking because I want to run it through a Marshall DSL-1 to make it sound like a smaller JCM800 to use at home as the actual JCM800 amp is too big and loud for my needs.
@@PhillipMcKnight Thanks very much Phil! That’s really helpful to know. Appreciate the advice. I’ve had my eye on the pedal pal since your last video and was excited to see you post this.
Why? Helping the poor suckers there who have had their country ruined by socialism sounds like a noble thing to do, not to mention this pedal kicks more butt than anything I've heard in a long time.

wow, you're so generous with other people's money @@rcruz262
Awesome sounded pedal
Great job guys
Selling your 800's because this pedal is so good must be the highest recommendation there is.
Sounds amazing!

The riff on 4:55 though.... 👀 🔥... Damn!
Awesome...just wish it could have a bit more distortion for 80s metal..sounds so good
I just ordered one used on reverb. Can not wait to try it!
Owned this pedal for a few years. It Rocks! Comes very close to the Marshall AFD 100.
I have the PedalPalFX 987 Plexi Carrera and it is also completely amazing. Best MIAB company out there, nothing else is even comparable.
Have a V3, which I bought after your previous review. Exactly as you described and it was like buying from a local craftsman. I kept my JCM800 but it does replace it.
I have the JCM800 lead series and a Marshall fridge. I prefer the sound of the fridge
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Sounds good. Comparing it with a Boss SD-1 and some other pedals would make a good video. I like the sound of a Princeton with an SD-1.
The last pedalpal video you did blew my mind. I couldnt believe how much it sounded like or better than the real thing.
WOW PHIL IS WORKING EARLY ONLINE TODAY
I run the V3 direct into the fx loop - killer!

Dang Phil! That pedal plus the Gibson really got the riffs flowin! Sounded great!!
I love my V3 you turned me on to. They're fantastic!
The Mass of the Fermenting Dregs using a JCM800 🥰
Inspires me to keep my beer cold.
Thanks Phil
Phil how does this compare to the LPD 87?
Wow, Marshall in a tiny box! Thanks Phil. Just subbed to pedalpalfx too.
Princeton sounds good.
What pickups are in the gold top? It sounds great
I think he said 57 classics
I want it, but the 5w Marshall setting on my Mesa TA-15 gives me that tone too

Sounds good but not sure. Try the JHS The AT+ ( it also got boost) beside just to hear ....JHS have 3 kind of Marshall-esque sounds .

Awesome sound. Now the million dollar question: How does it take a TubeScreamer in front of it?
I would love to hear how it sounds boosted with a SD-1.
I have this pedal, it’s the best imho. I have three Marshalls too but this really sounds like I want.
I have three of the 959 pedals, and I like them so much that I am getting a Marshall or two this year. 🤘

Impressive. Makes me wonder if the future is simply a pedal style amp, plugged into FOH or an FRFR? Maybe we are already there?

Finally guitar pedal episode 😎 BTW that pedal sounds good 🔥
You’re giving me serious GAS Phil. I would have liked to have heard it through a Strat or a Tele.
Nice. And, not as expensive as I thought it would be.
Hey Phil - it's great to see you flying your Metalhead flag! I have a hunch that these guys are gonna start selling a LOT of these pedals now!

It would work great with that amp you may want to back the highs off the pedal, but it depends on your cab and speaker and preference

PedalPalFx does the best MIAB pedals. Dethroned The King. by Menatone.
Thanks a lot for that Amazing comment!!! Keep on Rocking! Luis.
OK, the title got me good 😂😂
Sounds fantastic.
Holy crap that sounds good!
The Pal sounds pretty Rad.
I love that these companies are doing Marshall better than Marshall
Thanks a lot for that Amazing comment!!! Keep on Rocking! Luis.
What a fantastic video have a wonderful day phillip 😊❤
That thing is a beast in a box!
Is it better than Marshall's recently reissued Drivemaster (Govner) ?
That's the real question.
Love pedal reviews ! 🎸🎶
This pedal doesn't go to 10, it goes to once!!!! (11 in spanish) 😅
I'd like to hear how this sounds using this pedal as a preamp through an fx loop rather than through the front of an amp.
It sounds the same just your clean will be super loud like with any pedal in a FX loop
@@PhillipMcKnight - I don't know if it'll always be the same since many amp preamps will color the tone of pedals in front
I think it's different in the context of a clean amp like a Fender though
oooo that's a burn...
Yo. Awesome pedal
Love the title!!! 😂
Description says “Padal” Pal 800
And what does the 50% of the gain we didn't hear sound like
Phil leaves them on 11? 🤔
get a golden plexi instead its only 60 bucks
didnt like the 34 Slash mod. sounds nasally in the mids to my ears
😅
Venezuela help?, sounds very nice to me🇺🇸🇮🇱✝️
Marshall hasn't been a music gear company since greed and corruption destroyed the music business. They should stick to refrigerators.
You're speaking facts but did you just watched the Beato video? It was a good one!
Wampler pinnical better
Marshall are turning from an amp manufacturer to just a brand name. Quite sad really
Sounds cheap
You lost me at “Venezuela” which is not a place I want to purchase electronic devices from. 😡
