i truly am a hillbilly from the mountains and this was all the music we listened to at friends houses they would be get togethers and us kids would chase lighting bugs and eat watermelon and dancing to the music being played on the porch

This music brings back memories of dancing in the rain and homemade pasta with sauce made from the garden. Good memories that I will always cherish.

Dan Tyminski one of the Original Union Statilon Members and still is. Still plays with Alison Krause. He has a beard now and is extremely talented! Alison Krause and US are the VERY BEST!!!

Dan tyminski wasn’t original. That line up on this video is John bowman, Barry bales, Adam Steffey and rob block.

my biggest inspiration and the reason I got into bluegrass when I was 4. My parents would always listen to Alison and this is a fun one to play and sing, and just a great tune in general.

That is John Bowman. One of my favorite voices. He played with Alison Krauss for about a year than played with the Isaacs forever.. He's now playing with Adam Steffey in the new band , the boxcars!

OMG, if i didnt know any better, i would say it was someone else, but with the voice of Alison!! What a transformation from this to how she looks like now!
Ofcourse appereance is not important comparing to the music they make, but still.. Wow!!

That's how she looked when I first saw her in 1990..w/Alison Brown on banjo..before Ron Block and Tim Stafford before Dan Tyminski. Alison is the best !!!

I love how Alison looks with that baby fat. She has gotten more beautiful as time has gone by. Her voice never wavers and can calm the raging storm within me. If I make it to heaven by God's grace, after I look up Jesus, I'll go searching for Alison and ask her to sing for me.

    Lyrics:
    Look at the sky baby
    What do you see?
Looks like the tears that I cry
Fallin' down like rain on the ground
    Every time you say goodbye
    Take a look around now
    Why don't you feel
The way that cold wind stings and bites
And your words just are like arrows through my heart
    Every time you say goodbye
There's a restless feeling knocking at my door today
There's a shadow hanging 'round my garden gate
I read between the lines of words you can't disguise
Love has gone away, and put these tears in my eyes
Look at the sky baby, see how it cries?
Ain't it just like my tears
Fallin' down like rain on the ground
    Every time you say goodbye
There's a restless feeling knocking at my door today
There's a shadow hanging 'round my garden gate
I read between the lines of words you can't disguise
Love has gone away, and put these tears in my eyes
There's a restless feeling knocking at my door today
There's a shadow hanging 'round my garden gate
I read between the lines of words you can't disguise
Love has gone away, and put these tears in my eyes

While Dan Tyminski is an outstanding musician. he didn't join Union Station until 1994, when Tim Stafford left the band.
The original line-up on their first album "Two Highways" was:
    Alison Krauss - fiddle, vocals
    Jeff White - guitar, vocals
    Mike Harman - banjo, vocals
    John Pennell - bass
Jeff White went on to work with Vince Gill, and has a couple of outstanding solo albums. If you like Dan, you will probably like Jeff.

I really miss Adam Steffey in Union Station. Love Jerry Douglas on Dobro, but Steffey's mandolin really keyed so many of AKUS' early songs. Does anyone know why he left?

    • @RaxOldies

I think something personal happened...but he did go on to play with the Dixie Chicks after leaving AKUS.

    • @RaxOldies

Educated guess would be '92-'93...album came out in '92 with Tim Stafford on guitar...he was later replaced by Dan Tyminski. This one features John Bowman.
American Music Shop ran from 1990-1994 .....so it's somewhere in that period!! Hope that helps...here's a link to some shows...ruclips.net/p/PLfBSlaNrS1v3aILP0kVwOcclb4RMWKw5M

One of the best for sure. I prefer my dad, Alan Perdue. Steff can smoke it though, no doubt.

  • @mjdewalt
    @mjdewalt 16 лет назад

I could be wrong, but I recall an interview with John Bowman in which he had said he only left AKUS because of meeting his future wife Becky Isaacs and his desire to be with her. John would be an asset to any group though.

Dan wasn't an original Union Station Member. He didn't come till 1994. John Bowman was there filling in before he came full time.

When she lost Adam Steffey and Tim Stafford, the band lost it's edge. Haven't paid any attention to her since despite her popularity. Whatever personality conflicts or whatever there were, she should have put up with them or done something to hold that band together. This is a recurring theme in Bluegrass. John Bowman is nice, Jerry is a great picker but has gotten too mellow with age. (I first saw him in 1974 when he and Ricky mashed in with the Country Gentlemen after they lost their banjo picker. Ricky played banjo and they shucked down the corn as kids). Sad.
