I've been a musician for around 35-36yrs and seldomly have heard someone with such pitch control over strong & exacting notes like this. And lawd have mercy, she's got some set of pipes on her! I met her and Dan Tyminsky back around 2004 when she opened for Willie Nelson on a summer package tour in Greenville SC. She's so polite and soft spoken. You wouldn't immediately think she could belt 'em out like that, because she's so petite, but that all changes when she sings.

    Right on chiaarabocelli.
I saw her in ~1989 in the basement of the Natural History Museum in Wash DC. She was plain jane, painfully shy, could barely speak to the audience. She hid behind her fiddle. She opened her mouth to sing and we all fell in love with her. We were the Lucky Ones. Long way from then to now -- see her video with Robert Plant, Gone, Gone, Gone.

I was a fan of Alison back when she was a pleasingly plump redhead...I didn't care about her outer shell...it was her music within in her that I admired. Then when she was transformed in that slick packaging and became more mass-market appealing....that's when everyone else...not just those who liked great music....discovered her.

Alison has a voice that STICKS in my mind LONG after the song is over!! It overwhelms me. Like no other singer. 1). Alison Krauss 2). Emmylou Harris 3). Norah Jones 4). Bonnie Raitt ...... ALL of these girls have that effect on me. Alison Krauss (please notice) I placed in the number "1" spot.

Looking at them here makes me think..."Ahhhh...they were all little babies once weren't they." Barry Bales, I mean look at him! Can we asay uhdorable! Jerry Douglas is still hot even now! And Ron Block hasn't even aged. They're all awesome and what they look like sure aint important when they make the music they make.

Lucky for us Alison liked rock music and chose to cover this Bad Company song. Alison should have toured with Paul Rodgers and not that hag Robert Plant. Paul Rodgers is just about my all time favorite singer and then take someone like Alison Krauss and you've got the makings of one of the best duos that we've never heard.

Went commercial? She has been singing and touring since she was 14 .just because people buy her records in large quantities doesn't mean she is "sold out,".she and the band union station has always considered the music and the song to be the reason for what they do .monetary considerations for not dictate what they do or don't do.nothing wrong with getting paid for what you love doing as far as I am concerned

@ytdsgdjgfueyxn537 I see your point to an extent but I know that I a not avoiding reality. I came to this sight to listen to music for it to take me away for a moment from reality. Is that so wrong to forget for the moment, to get lost in the music the sound of her voice, and to read like minds who enjoy her music, not to read about people arguing, or "debating" about polotics? I live with the reality of things every day, I am analytical and like a good debate, but not about our differences.

I say more power to her and her band if they aren't strictly bluegrass. That is a terribly constricted style of music. Bluegrass players only play in the key of G. There is a limited number of licks they can do, so they have to prove their musicality by pure speed of picking. And singing through the nose! It's "lowest common denominator music" - music of a limited cultural outlook and limited music styles, like gypsy jazz or gangsta rap. Look up "gangstagrass." It proves my point.
